Hey Thomas, great review! (again) Could you please tell some more about your percieved interior quality, compared to let's say Peugeot 308 or Ford Focus? Are plastics solidly screwed together, are there any creaks and squeaks while driving or when you start the AC on a really hot summer day?
I've driven the hatchback, and that really surprised me in a positive way. Every now and then Opel makes decent cars that look and drive well (even though I don't like the particular look of this car). However, quality wise, it's always a question. For people who are looking for a car for private use and want to drive the car for more than 4 years, I have a hard time recommending any of the GM-brands, even more so as an occasion. They keep selling well in a market that's crowded with really good options. Kind of odd, this conservatism in car buying behavior.
One question. What is the weight difference compared to the previous model? For the hatch version you mention it was 200kg lighter, which sounds like a lot.
Something I wish would be conveyed to European automakers, Americans want rear leg space. 88cm of leg room is ok in something like a Golf or GTI, but we'd really prefer 96cm or greater. Having comfortable rear adults or a child in a booster seat that can't kick the front driver is paramount.
+Huw Williams Yes, Volvo will be importing S60 L version from China. It would be nice to get more European cars with an 1-2" of legroom in the back seat. All other dimensions can remain the same (1-2" increase in body length). The Honda Civic is a great seller, but doesn't have the quality interior of an Opel or VW product.
i very like the opel cars, and for the astra sport tourer i love the design, and the engine, But i would ask if this new car is reliable as the old one ??? i hope so match......... and thank you.
Nice looking vehicle ! Side profile to me might look better in the rear roof line if it had the floating roof design similar to some of the Nissan vehicles .
I like this car very much. It has so many available options but it has no climatzation vents for the rear seats. Other than this, I enjoyed the format of this review and this car is nice both on the outside and on the inside. Now I don't know which I like more, this Astra or the Megane.
I'm Hoping in near future the automobile manufacturers will implement Apple new AppleCarPlay with out the cable that's is just now becoming available with latest Apple firmware update and soon to be wireless charging also from Apple with out a case implementation from third parties . Thanks Joe

Good job. I told you when you came to Portugal guive a call for a coffe and to show some good places to shoot. You where really really near my home, i live in Porto, where you where shotting was Matosinhos by the sea. Not the same finesse with you showing of the car
Does anyone know if the Astra estate has more room in the back seat compared to the hatchback? Also, if there are any really tall owners ( > 195 cm) to comment on the driving position
My friend, Last year my wife and I rented this Astra for 3 1/2 months in the Algarve. I am just under 6 feet tall and our freinds from California visited us for 2 weeks . He is 6 foot 3 inches tall and sat behind me with the drivers seat in my normal driving position and had a few inches between his knees and the back of my seat. We drove from Faro to Seville with no complaints. If I could get this car in California I would do so in a heartbeat!!!
