    Hello Rob & Gail Thank you for your lovely video, what a fabulous location. It's sad the lakeside is going to change it must have been very special to watch the sunsets and have that beautiful view in the morning. You both will have been greatly missed by the ducks and fish at dinnertime. Your videos are great showing lovely places to walk and visit. Take care looking forward to your next adventure 🐟🐤

      Hi Morag and once again thank you for watching our videos. We are really sad there’s only a few months left for anyone influenced by our video to enjoy the waterside pitches and all the site has to offer. It really is quite unique.It was great to make friends with the wildlife and had we known would have taken a larger stash of food for them.We always aim to see and do as much as possible on our getaways and it’s great to be able to share it with all who watch. Thank you for commenting 👍, warm regards, Rob & Gail 😀

    Hi Gail and Rob,
    Another lovely vlog and site, I can't believe that sites are now turning away tourers and replacing with lodges, maybe down to finance/money ?.
    The walks looked lovely and really interesting in the signal box too much for me to remember 😂.
    Gail is defo braver than us with hands in with the hoover fish, loved how the ducks were walking over them 😀.
    Nice weather again until the rain came 😌.

      As always thank you for watching and commenting 👍.
      It’s a shame the touring site is closing at the end of the year. Hopefully our video will inspire people to book before it’s too late. We enjoyed the holiday and filming the attractions in the area which may be helpful for anyone staying at other nearby sites in the future. There might not be a lake view with Hoover fish and ducks though 🦆 😂.
      Don’t mind a caravan day in when it rains but would have loved a visit to Twycross Zoo.

    F.Y.I. I have just received my caravan back after a post sale 1 year warrantee damp repair. The caravan is a 2011. It has been of very good service, to honour their sales warranty ( Beechwood liesure Thirsk ). What was found on both sides of the caravan, was shrivelled sealant under the awning rails, obviously age related, that had shrunk and left gaps for the water to permeate. Interestingly enough, I got talking to another caravan owner in Castleton and he had the exact same problem on a previous caravan , that was also fixed, by replacing the sealant under the caravan awning rails both sides. My thinking is now, that if you have a caravan that is 10 years old or more, to get the awning rail sealant replaced at it's 10 year birthday or shortly after, leakage or not. It is much more inexpensive, than repairing the damage after the water has ingressed. The damage would have cost me north of £2000, if it was not under warranty. The caravan was 11 months into a 12 month warranty approximately. The other caravan owner sold his caravan after 2 years post repair to his friend, who has had it for a further 4 years with no further problems. This may be something that you would like to consider. Because the sealant underneath the awning rails ( both sides ) is hidden by the rails themselves, you have no indication of how good the sealant is until it leaks. Your caravan is about the age that this may start ?

    • @robswiseways5697
      @robswiseways5697  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Steve, I haven’t come across any water ingress. We keep our caravan in its own garage so it’s only exposed to the elements when we go on holiday. I’m hoping less exposure to the elements equals less ageing to the caravan structure. Being Alu-tech construction, the awning rails are part of the structure and hold the sides and roof together. This can be seen in Bailey factory tour videos. Whilst I see your point of view Steve, I would be very reluctant to disturb the awning rails on our caravan. I clean the caravan every time we return home, meaning I should hopefully spot any gaps and rectify before problems arise. Thanks very much for pointing this out though 👍, I will be keeping a close eye on the rails and for any leaks. Cheers Rob & Gail 😀

      I see your point about reversing in. I imagine they expect everyone would want to face the splendid view hence, placing tap and drain at the pitch entrance.
      Had we an awning and parked the car on the other side, the grey waste pipe would have been in the way. I would have had to move the pipe to drive in and out (the fresh water pipe would run around the perimeter).

    • @robswiseways5697
      @robswiseways5697  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi John, we had this site on our to do list for a couple of years and we’re glad we did it this year ! We had no idea the touring section was going.
      Unfortunately not able to input dimensions into the sat nav. In settings I have ‘fastest’, ‘shortest’ or ‘econ’. I have it set to econ and this chooses main routes but there has been the very rare occasion when it wanted to take me along a narrow road. I ignored the instruction and carried on driving so it recalculated and put me back on track. I always check routes on Google satellite and street view beforehand though.
      I did have the sat nav updated in 2023 but bear in mind my car is a 2011 model. Overall I am really pleased with the system. Hope this helps and thanks for watching. Rob & Gail 😀
