BRILLIANT. saw a bunch of other 'upsize' videos that made my head hurt lol. this is hands down the BEST. not just because it's easy, but because it's way smarter to do it this way. THANK YOU
Thank you so very much for your video, you have just opened up my world of available patterns I can new use. I love searching thrift stores for patterns, and I have always been limited to what I can find due to sizing. But now I can pick any pattern I like. Thank you so very much again.
I really hope you're still making videos. I was wondering if this could be done and, if so, how it was done. I was trying to figure out how to enlarge a pajama pants pattern i just bought. I forgot to check the sizes it showed, and it goes up to an XL size. I like my PJ pants to fit loosely on me, so, i actually needed to get the 2XL size. But, where i purchased the pattern, the one i bought was the only one they had. So, I'm gonna try using your method of enlarging the pattern to fit me. TYSM for sharing this video with us. 👍😍❣️😻
This is absolutely amazing! I really appreciate you teaching us how to do this. I love vintage patterns and I've passed on many I really wanted because I was intimidated about grading them. This video was a gift. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I know this video is older, but you just saved my life by making it so much easier! I got the last pattern going to retire that one and it is only sized up to 16 and I needed bigger and didn’t realise it was the small one, I even looked to see if there were more but as I said it was the last one. So THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! God bless
You are fabulous! Thank you so much for explaining this method ... love love love the fact I can now use my old patterns and make them to fit my current size ❤️
Thank you so much! I bought a pattern but didn't check the measurements and I was worried I wasted my money on a pattern that was too small. But now I can just use your method and save my pattern!
Hi I just came across your video and I try to see if you had uploaded any other videos with the older patterns that were just a one size I see that your videos are two years old I don’t know if you go on TH-cam anymore but it would be great if you can show a video of increasing a pattern with a one size like a 12 or 14 only thank you and I hope you read this🙏🏻
The best tutorial I've seen to grade up a pattern. Where did you purchase your paper from please? I have several adorable little girl patterns that go up to size 10. My granddaughter is in a 16 youth now. I want to use the existence patterns I have. Thanks for your knowledge & sharing!
Hey Tina!! A question about a basic torso foundation block. When grading it from 8 to 6, does the apex also shift 1/8” just like the darts? Thank you!!!
Hi Tina, I have a vintage peplum blazer pattern size 10 My client needs a size 14 (36 bust) bust but a size 22 waist (37 waist) can I use your same method?
Ok. Hi. I have sooo many questions. I'm extremely new to sewing. I can only sew by hand atm, have never made or followed a pattern for sewing. I've always wanted to make my own clothes. My questions are: do u get a sizing paper that your tracing the pattern? What if don't want a store bought pattern but to make a certain dress in a much larger size and how would I go about that having no experiance of terminology and going off looks of stitches and dress materials? Please hoping you can help?
Thanks for demonstrating this! But you increased (and traced) the size from 20 to size 22 THEN moved the pattern (and traced again) to size 24. Why not just move it from size 20 to size 24 the first time?
I bought my patterns for my commercial size: 16. I just found out that I should have bought them according to my measurements, which means a size 22 pattern. Is that gradable or do I need to buy all new patterns??

Good method. What is the process if I only needed to add to the belly area and not the bust and waist? Thanks
Does this method work as well for trousers please?

Can you explain how to move a dart and other markings to the new size when grading a pattern?
Love this method, but can it work for a single size pattern that doesn't have all the sizes on one pattern piece?
MovieMadam54 yes.

shellyslioneyes ok thank you
VeggieMight4Life This technique is for store bought patterns.
How do you know how much to increase. My pattern is 16 and I need 22 for jeans pattern
If not using a store bought pattern but a pattern hand made, what would be the correct measurements (in/cm) to make the pattern smaller and bigger ??
Indasia Janee' I suggest inches
Brilliant!
Wow. Thank you.
What if the pattern needs resizing up by three sizes.
Hi! Do each size separately to keep balance
Thanks for demonstrating this! But you increased (and traced) the size from 20 to size 22 THEN moved the pattern (and traced again) to size 24. Why not just move it from size 20 to size 24 the first time?
Scarlett O'Hara Precision is important..
Scarlett O'Hara Balance takes each size when doing larger sizes
Would anybody out there would say that to enlarge by one size would enlarge 1/2 an inch per one size? It is a simple question can someone answer it?
No so many inches depending on Size range it can go up to 2 inches i
It will tell you on the the pattern
I bought my patterns for my commercial size: 16. I just found out that I should have bought them according to my measurements, which means a size 22 pattern. Is that gradable or do I need to buy all new patterns??
Just Ms. Len New Patterns is best
Just Ms. Len Hi, buy the largest size and grade to your size from there
Also where did you get your weights? ☺️
Hi there, these were purchased while in college at F.I.T. In New York circa 1980
