👴 Old Composer Reactions 🤘
Native Construct might be one of the biggest "what if" bands in the last decade. They were a group of students from Berkley. Quiet World was their one and only album and then they just went away. Its one of personal favorite concept albums, following a mute man's struggle to proclaim his love for a girl but being rejected, so he turns inward and creates a world in his mind where he is a all powerful god. His mania is apparant in the lyrics and music, where he will have breaks with reality. Its really an incredible piece of work.
Couldn't have said it better myself, and I've heard many people just call them a BTBAM rip-off, the influence is obviously there, but their work stands on its own, I don't think Coma Ecliptic coming out within a year of this album helped their case in any way, hate that their not still together
I think on a more meta level this album represents the inner struggle of a depressed doomer, with Sinister Silence being a metaphor for his anger and despair and The Archon being a metaphor for his hope and the indomitable human spirit. Sinister Silence can trap The Archon and bind him in darkness but is incapable of killing him outright because somewhere deep down the Mute still clings to his hope for a brighter future.
One of the great singularities in progressive music. That they only released one album is a tragedy but what an album!

So happy you finally checked them out. Between the buried and me is the only reason this album exists, they got native construct signed to their label. They did 1 album and it took like 5 years to get it out, then they broke up. The album is a prog legend in my mind.
Greatest 1 album wonder ever. The 2 minute track before this really fits as an intro. They should have just added it to this track.

truly amazing you got around to some Native Construct. they made the best concept album of 2015 and stopped making more music for this project. it's truly sad, but at least we have this album, and their guitarist still makes stuff too, Poh Hock is amazing

I've never click on a video sooo fast! One of my favorite albums, and Miles (one of the guitarist) is a super nice guy. Not to ruin the magic, but the drums were programmed if I remember right. Definitely worth a full album listen, it would be a disservice to yourself to only do this one track!!

This is the end of a concept album. Like, the finale, where all the other songs and themes you've heard throughout the album are played together on top of each other, like in West side story or Oklahoma

due to the odd time structure and technical aspects of the drum arrangement, with some other factors, this song was never played live; a touring drummer for the band covered the song extremely well, years after the band fell apart, his name is James Knoerl and he now plays with Aviations, another Berklee-based prog band
I am an old prog metal fan and this is easily one of my all time favs, masterpiece. The drummer!! My goodness. The whole record is a trip!! So sad there was only one.

If you're curious, I'm not sure Native Construct ever had a drummer in their official line up (this album used programmed drums) but James Knoerl toured with them for their live shows. Not really related much but the vocals at a few parts sort of remind me of Rishloo.
I've never seen anyone do a reaction/analysis of any Rishloo songs but I think you might enjoy the song Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun.

I considered Quiet World to be one of the best debuts in prog metal when it first dropped. Absolutely outstanding album, and also a shame that it was their only one.

This song has a lot of musical callbacks to the rest of the album, you should definitely check some of that album out if you want, one of the best prog albums I have ever heard. That being said, this is probably my least favorite song on the album (too chaotic for me)
