(un)Installing Heed crash bars on the Ducati Desert X

I recently received the long awaited offroad package from Ducati and I want to install it as a set. Since it includes the OEM crashbar, I thought about capturing a video on how to uninstall the Heed crash bar. It won't be as helpful as a putting it together tutorial, but hopefully it will help someone.

Next time use a jack under the engine to take stress off the engine mount. The rod will come out a lot easier.

I followed your recommendation when installing the OEM crash bars and you’re right, it was much easier.

Heh - I did the same thing with the Heed crash bars on my Tuareg. Good budget option, but there are better things out there for the money, and if you know where to look, considerably better things for less.

I've to install my Heed set in the next days. Did you use Loctite for the screws?

I did, but blue loctite. Now, I just installed the OEM crashbar, and in several bigger screws, especially the ones with torque > 20 Nm, they call for grease instead of loctite. I think the explanation I read for that is that grease will allow the screw to fully apply the specified torque to the screw/thread. The loctite might cause micro-jams while torquening, so even though you read the right torque, the screw is not really at that specified torque... I'm not sure I fully understand this though...

@@merloti Yesterday Ducati told me that I have to tighten the screw with 60Nm. In the main manuell, heed is writing something about the possibility of using Loctite. Now I'am not sure what to do. I think I have to read more in www.
