    In this video, I head out just before sunset for a little hike and photography near Twin Peaks Campground in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
    I follow the Palo Verde trail a short way from the campground towards the visitor center stopping at a previously scouted out location of photo taking.
    I explain why I like the location and move about taking photos with various compositions as the lighting changes with the setting sun.
    The location is rich with cacti ranging from Cholla, Organ Pipe and tall Saguaros. In the background lighting up beautifully in the low sun is the Little Ajo mountain range.
    Near the end of the video is a slide show of photos taken with both my new Sony AX53 camcorder and my older Sony NEX5R mirrorless still camera.
    Finally, the video ends with a time-lapse sunset sequence from the next night. The sky lit up with a fiery display from nature.

    "In residential areas, cactus wrens are notorious for getting into mischief. Being curious birds, it is not uncommon for them to be found flying about out-of-place in automobiles or homes where a window has been left open." So keep the screen door closed and the doors and windows of the truck too, LOL.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw one hanging out in the wheel well of my truck the other day. They like to perch and nest inside Cholla cactus, amazing how they can avoid the needles.

    • @snubbedpeer
      @snubbedpeer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LoveYourRV Apparently they do that on purpose, the needles protect them from other animals.

    Nice video and photos Ray! I've never really been a landscape photographer but I suspect as we travel more, I'll get more into it. So I was wondering what kind of tripod you (or Anne) use. The tripod I have is much to heavy to be lugging around on a hike. I'll need something that's lighter to carry along. Thanks!

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Anne uses a Gitzo Tripod with a Really Right Stuff Ball Head and L-Bracket. Pricey stuff but really light and well made.

    Ray, great video. I'll be heading there soon myself, although probably boondocking. Any concerns about running into undocumented folks coming across the border?

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not much of a concern from my experience and talking to a few others that have visited for many years. Not saying it doesn't go on but the area is heavily patrolled by border patrol agents and National park rangers. There is a large border patrol station in the area www.cbp.gov/border-security/along-us-borders/border-patrol-sectors/tucson-sector-arizona/ajo-station and two checkpoints on highway 85.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite boondocking, it's an organized campground, even has concrete pads and picnic tables, but it is dry camping if that's what you mean, no hookups. There are water fill spigots around and an RV dump station plus bathrooms and I think solar powered showers. Cheers, Ray
