- Today I'm sharing one of the first budgets we made 6 years ago! We were newlyweds working on paying off $80k of student loans. Here's how we spent our money.

Hey Marissa, I just wanted to say that I finally bought your budgeting spreadsheet last week and I’m SO glad I did. I already feel like I have a better handle on my finances and savings goals. Great video!
I’m so glad to hear this!! That’s awesome!!
Me too. I just bought a house and this definitely helped me get a better view of my budget.
I NEEDED THIS video. I realize I am tracking now and am ready to actually budget.
Wao, super nice to see the 2015 budget and sacrifices now are blessings 😎
This is exactly how I feel! Thank you ❤️
Also such a great example of how being debt-free frees you up to spend. We currently have an income similar to this one, in the same hcol area, but we are debt-free. I rarely feel like we are scrimping or suffering from lack of funds. We want to increase income to be able to accomplish some other goals, but being debt-free is something I am SO thankful for!
That's sooo true! It would have freed up so much more room for other things if we were debt-free!
I'm so glad you did this video. I requested it and love that you listen to your subscriber's feedback. Thank you. It's amazing to look back and see how far you've come. BTW-I'm loving your hair.
Aww thank you! I'm happy to share. And it was crazy to look back on!
Excellent. Thank you for sharing!!
I am lucky my income has increased over the years but the pay scale at my job has not changed since 2015. I rented a one bedroom that year for $950. Same apt now is $1250. And I’d be getting paid the same I did back then! I feel fortunate for my timing but bad for young people just getting out of school now. Cost of living has increased a lot in my area
Great video!
Great content!!! Keep uploading 👍
My early budgets are so basic too. Now they are so many line items in comparison! I think it's a combination of better budgeting but also how life gets more expensive & complicated, once kids come along, and home ownership etc.
When I first moved into my house. Things were tight. I had just put a large down payment. I had an emergency fund that was soon drained by necessary home repairs. I started cutting everything from my budget and side hustling more. It took me four months to rebuild my emergency fund and I love having a little bit more discretionary income in my budget. The sacrifices are worth it.
Awesome to see how you guys got started and where you're at now! My husband and I worked three jobs for two years to payoff debt and pay cash for our wedding. My budget spreadsheet looks a lot like your did back then! Lol
That's amazing! Way to go. A lot of work but totally worth it.
AHHHH I requested this!
❤
How long did you have to do this and how long did it take to pay off your student loans?
It took us 2.5 years to pay off our debt and we lived like this for most of it! After 1 year of living in this apartment we started renting a room from my parents and lived in their house for another year. Then we moved to a larger apartment on our own while increasing our savings.
@@TheBudgetingWife That's so impressive, happy for you both 😊
Wild to see a budget that doesn't even include eating out or fun money. Why did you guys have two cars then? I guess selling them wouldn't have yielded much but it doesn't sound like you used them much.
Yeah. We knew we wouldn’t get much from the sale and the added convenience if we ever had to go separate places.
