Thanks for this. Brought back some memories. Caught my first ever barbel a little way downstream from there on the LAA stretch about 40 years ago. Tight lines when you return.
Nice video lads , glad you enjoyed your day there , its a fantastic place the fishing can be hard but the rewards are amazing when you do catch , tight lines
It's a shadow of its former self unfortunately. During the 90s it was fantastic fishing then the problems started and by the end of 2006 it became very hard to catch barbel.
Try fishing a single rod with a decent bow of line from rod tip to lead. In a flow like that you shouldn't need an 8oz lead. A large bow will also counteract the debris collecting on the line for a bit longer. Unlike Carp fishing it's not necessary to fish a tight line, you are often looking for dropbacks as much as the "3 foot twitch" On a small river like the Lea a single rod fished with a little finesse will outfish 2 rods. Best of luck in your Barbel hunt.
@@JediCarper thought in your video you said you were looking 4ward 2 fishing the evening and the night.when I was there we were told we couldn't fish in2 the evening
@@JediCarper not gunna have a go at you mate.but I drive over 200 hundred miles ta fish there.and told had ta be off bye 6 .I'm gunna still 2 the river seven.i you ever want big barbel guz a shout.i had 4 yesterday over 10pound I only fished 4 hours
@@JediCarper Never got a barbel there, I have seen someone else land one though. Got my PB pike there and have seen a total monster that must be close to 30lbs
There's always a chance of blanking when you fish a river for barbel and chub. I've failed to catch on about 50% of my barbel sessions. You just need to be philosophical and accept it.
Just move your bait more. Every minute move it a turn or two. If you do that you’ll catch more fish guaranteed. You could be under a leaf, in weed whatever. Keep putting the bait in, especially hemp and casters. You want to invite a shoal of Barbel not ‘a’ Barbel. Most of what I watch is a load of boilies. Never seen one of the experts put a float in. How utterly blind and boring. Carp fishing in rivers is shite. They just want your money. And…… Put your bait on your hook. It’s that easy. Steve

Jesus carp and barbel fishing shouldn't mix...stick to your own ffs...the late great fred crouch fished this place, stick to carping.
I will be back...don't you worry..
Thanks for watching
I know many baits will catch barbel but the last 2 years all my barbel have been caught on cheesey garlic pellets glugged in the matching oil 👍
Thanks mate will bear that in mind next time
last time l was there it was full of Crayfish as this guy was catching them in traps and there was loads
Didn't know about the crays
