Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol joined the Sky Sports News set to discuss Gary Lineker's return to air with the BBC.
Gary Lineker will return as Match of the Day host after he was taken off air over his tweets criticising the government's migration policy.
BBC director general Tim Davie apologised for the episode and announced an independent review into its social media usage guidelines.
In a statement, Mr Davie said: "Everyone recognises this has been a difficult period for staff, contributors, presenters and, most importantly, our audiences

I really don't think an Employer has ANY right to dictate what opinions, views etc someone has in their personal life. Its not as if he was attacking or hurting the BBC directly and was only expressing his own opinion on a pertinent subject matter that has been completely overshadowed thanks to this incident.
For an employer with obvious Bias towards a political party, it seems ridiculous to claim 'impartiality' let alone 'suspend' an 'entertainment' host of a sports show, not a 'journalist' or even one that works in 'political' content where 'impartiality' is more critical. He was the host of a 'sports' show, not discussing 'political' matters on the BBC so his opinions really matter to the BBC or its Political neutrality - and besides which, its also a Human Rights issue...
His twitter isn't his personal life. It's printing your opinion for millions of people. I guarantee that had he said something on the extreme right rather than the extreme left you and others would suuddenly lose your principles.

It's called reputational damage and the vast majority of businesses have it included in their IT policies.
IMO everyone is entitled to say what they like but there will always be consequences for those actions that you have to accept.

The frank Warren video on Lineker is fantastic
Gotta say I am quite relieved to live in a country that isn't quite that much of an Orwellian hell hole. The fact that you can have that different rules for Lineker and Andrew Neil where Andrew Neil could chair a smutrag like the spectator publishing articles in praise of actual Neo nazis while working as the chief of the political coverage on BBC where as a sports presenter can't say the government is using language similar to the nazis before they came to power. The big difference: Tim Davie is a conservative party member who has run for office for the party and is basically displaying his bias. We have seen a few signs here in Denmark of the government taking totalitarian steps. But so far they keep the Danish national TV channel at an arms length.
...except the only ones who used the word Nazis were the daily Fail and Express.
Talking of Orwellian society, doesn't anyone find it a little convenient that this fuss erupted at the same time the tories are voting on what I lovingly call the thought crime bill which will make silent prayer in certain areas around abortion centres illegal...amongst other things?

"Difficult period" is something of an understatement, but the thing that makes it worse is the fact it was self-inflicted - the BBC chose to suspend Lineker, rather foolishly and quite frankly unnecessarily.

The BBC chair is a Tory party donor, Tim Davie was a Tory candidate- BBC senior management are all Tories. Alan Sugar posts all kinds of right wing stuff on twitter as do other TV presenters. What sort of balance is there at the BBC?
Lineker should shut his smug rich mouth. So easy for rich people to make comments on which they know very little about, yes we all are entitled to an opinion and we all should be allowed freedom of speech. However, if he has signed a contract that restricts his speech then that is down to him and his management team. The BBC are paying him a ridiculous salary for him to abide by their contract. To make a comparison of the Jews leaving Germany for a safe haven to the immigrants crossing the English Channel is naive at best. These “immigrants”, in most instances, are not fleeing war torn countries where they are being persecuted but travelling to the UK crossing other free domicile countries to reap the rich benefits they get from the British tax-payers…
