The fact that it was 7 to 5 in blitz just shows that even though pia might not be in her prime. She is definitely one of the strongest woman chess player ever. Regardless of this, I saw many hate comments on Levy's stream. Saying that Pia is too old and can't play. I could bet all my savings that these were the people who told Levy will get crushed. Anyways massive props to the players and to the production team behind this masterpiece, was one of the first chess matches I watched fully
Absolutely, especially for us older players! Interesting how few top players continued competing in their 60s and beyond - Korchnoi comes to mind, also U.S. GMs Reshevsky and Bisguier.
Game #1 Anna, the London System Opening worked well for Levy the first game. Pia won that game, yet Levy's strategy was good. Game #2 A fast draw by Levy. Actually, this was a great idea by Levy to get the draw. Game #3 Another draw by Levy. Well done. Game #4 This win by Levy was very well played. With these 4 games, at this accuracy level, it was really to me how well both were playing, and for Levy to tie the Classical portion was unexpected for me. Both played fantastic chess in the Classical portion! Rapid and Blitz I was thinking that Levy would have the advantage, especially in the Blitz area. Rapid portion - It was amazing how both were playing so well, just look at the Accuracy! Too many games, you said it correctly Anna. Pia, played well in the Rapid portion. Blitz portion - This is Levy's strength; I mean he has beaten people like GM Nepo and GM Alireza online. 94% Accuracy in a Blitz game...wow! Pretty tiring to play that many games in a row. Anna, I subscribe and listen to your Channel and Gotham Chess more than any other TH-cam Channel. Sometimes I listen to GM Hiraru's channel, he is good also. I was glad that both Pia and Levy played Great Chess, a very well-done presentation and match!!!
After losing the first game Levy had a meltdown bc he thought he was going 0-4 in classical, (he apparently coming as series of poor tournament losses after the format was established) Levy ask to play Pia and he and her daughter baked in the strengths and weaknesses of each to come up with a fair format for both players for content. (Pia didn’t sign up to be a paid GM to lose as she still plays non open competitive chess tournament against high level players…she signed up to create good content for daughter channel while playing a format she has chance to win to promote the game she loves) while Levy played an engine draw 2nd game and claimed draw after Pia didn’t (while his friend looked on like proud father in his commentary using his idea) nullifying the fairness of the format geared to Pia’s strength allowed her any opportunity to bank points in classic portion while ruing her daughter’s content. Pia after second game didn’t shake his hand or didn’t make eye contact as Levy schlepped away bc Levy violated what was discussed in planning and emphasized by her to Levy during a discussion of the Sophia rule before the first game with arbitrator of playing the games to the end game. I assume his instagram post afterwards was some attempt for his behavior Pia and other people who worked hard to organize the tournament for example the guy shutdown and rearranged his bar each night for Levy’s 20 minute draw games to protect his ego and his persona among his chess followers.
Liberal political activists will be angered by this comparison of a young woman to a dog, but I totally get what you really mean. Surely Anna will understand you. Golden retrievers are emblematic of friendship, love, loyalty, family, positivity, and wholesome goodness. Anna Cramling, the golden retriever of chess!
The tournament was great, I REALLY enjoyed it because it was SO intense, but it's obvious to me that the arrangement did not quite bring out the best in each player, leaving me feeling quite unsatisfied, that a rematch must be in arranged! Congrats on you blitz peak! Looks like you can get to 2300 soon, and even 2400 in the future, since you're beating them in Titled Tuesday. Looking forward to December's tournaments and the next stream!
This match was absolutely amazing!!! Thank you so so much to everyone involved and congrats to Levy! What I loved most was how everyone wanted to learn from the match and each other. Including Pia who’s already an expert! I was happy to see Levy take the learning opportunity and not only the win. And thank you for the commentary, as a beginner who’d never watched classical chess before I couldn’t have understood without you and Alex Also I must pay my respects to the cow 🐮 I had zero interest in chess until it got my attention anyway and brought me to your channel. I stayed for your positivity and after seeing recaps of the first 2 games I wanted to watch them in full! I saw the cow and less than a week later I was watching classical chess, completely focused for every second of it
It was a very fun event to watch. You were a great team as "objective" commentators (😁). Or not, but your bias, joyfulness and stress over lack of time on the clock was a fun and unusual addition. I hope you will host more events like this.
Amazing event, I dont remember when I was wathcing something like that. Both players were fantastic, it was true battle of generations. Cudos to both of them, because so many games in a row must be exhausting and you can start doing mistakes just because your brain is overwhelemd or you see position you played hours or days ago. So big thanks for that marathon
Thank you Anna for all your hard work in putting this on. Not only great entertainment, but so much to learn from on the chess front too. Perhaps there is one more challenge? Pia v Gotham at Fischer Chess!! Position picked at random, 10 minutes to study the starting position, then the game!
4th comment! Anyways, I was rooting for Pia even before it all happened, but I still love her as much as I did before She is really good chess player with AMAZING skills, and the whole event was just wonderful! And I remember watching through Levi's live and the way people were so mean.. She didn't deserved any of those things that was said about her in the live comments. I hope we will see her again someday, I already miss her :,)
This was an incredible tournament for the ages. We should see more of these with different chess streamers who want to gain the rank of GM or IM. Get both men and women involved. God bless.
@@vladimirmarin3072 good job on stating the obvious. Titles exist for a reason. There's a clear difference in strength and if he could beat pia in her prime he would be a lot closer to gm
lol certainly not. His GM coach esplained while commentating live a feeble attempt by his pupil in a GM-norm closed tournament that rozman had a decent level only in the opening phase and then in middlegame was way too passive .
I like and support Pia not only because she's a very good chess player, but because she always remains humble and friendly. Always eager to learn, and only concerned with the pleasure of playing. Characteristics of a true master. Not at all the 'another one bites the dust' style of the younger generation, shouting out loud: "Yessss, I beat another GM!" as a clickbait.
Yeah... I just got finished watching an ad, and then the video launched into a surfshark promo. Double dipping on sponsorships AND ad revenue. Very frustrating. I didn't finish the video.

Shoutout to both Pia and Levy for playing such amazing chess and giving us an incredibly thrilling match. This one’s in the history books for sure
Pia is such an inspiration. She truly loves the game, and is so humble while being so strong. Always awesome to see her play.

I have been watching a lot of videos of Anna lately.. and I must say the golden retriever energy she gives off is so cute!

18:42 I just did the same peekaboo in a real game, but exposing a defended bishop to their queen.
Pia is so lucky to have anna on her side
Effortless beauty, just so right.
Congratulations to Levy and props for Pia that she agreed on playing in that format. Great games.
Great tournament. You’re an excellent producer, Anna.
Was a very Nice Event, was able to see a few moments live, Thanks a lot for the nice recap 😊

Excellent games from you both! Especially Mrs Cramling!
Great match. This is excellent content for TH-cam. You (Pia, Gotham, Anna) are doing an excellent job promoting chess!
We love Pia!
I just love you care for your mom so much.
If you guys played the rest of the games, why are the rest of the games not in this video?
Beautiful beyond words, just wow.
Bots goin crazy thanks for the algorithm boost 💯

MY GM MOM !!!
Cuando en español?!??!?
Fer sure. Fer sure. Is Anna becoming a Vally girl?
Who won?
Overall, Levi scored the most points, so he won the tournament.
