Thank goodness 1.16 gave the hints to get to the nether. I mean, everything worked out exactly the way Mojang imagined it. He saw an ancient ruin, saw the incomplete rectangle at the middle of it. He used the obsidian in the chest to complete it, and then grabbed the thing that creates fire that he found in the chest, which was not an accident, it's why the flint and steel was there. He tried a shot in the dark and relit the portal. Very nice.
He's lucky that his subscribers didn't spoil what was in the nether, as they had everything so closed off, he didn't even realize he was in another dimension, just thought it was a teleporter.

The reason the chest didnt show up in the recipe list in the beginning was because you have a toggle on that only shows recipes craftable with the things currently in your inventory. Since you didn't have enough planks in your inventory, you couldn't craft a chest without getting more planks first, so the recipe didn't show up. The toggle is the icon with the crafting table and the checkmark next to it. If you turn it off you can browse all crafting recipes you have discovered (most are discovered when you first obtain the ingredients for them)

So about the water: the block you placed the water at became a source block and tried to flow out. If 2 source blocks are next to flowing water that water becomes a source block as we'll. This means in your pig hot tub you can put a source block of water in each of the corners and it'll flatten out the water. You can also put soulsand(which is found in the nether through the portal you made and is brown) under the water and it'll make bubbles in the pig hot tub

The soul sand will push you up. Magma will pull you down (and hurt). Any space that two water source blocks can flow into from different directions will become a source block, so if you do them kitty corner to each other they will create more source blocks, or spaced out one apart from each other they'll make the block in between a source block, but just two next to each other won't do anything special.

All I'm going to say is that you got *insanely* lucky with that diamond in the village chest, and even more lucky with that nether portal, *accompanied* by a chest with the materials to finish the portal! AND a gold sword so the pigmen don't attack you on entry!
There's a lot of engineering potential in minecraft so, please keep this series going, into "late" game! Once you're all familiar with regular minecraft, there are MANY very good mods out there that can change your game into an engineers dream.

    1. That white ore you found in the Nether isn't Iron. It's Quartz.
    2. Gold tools have the lowest durability out of all the tools you can make.
    3. You can negate Creeper (knobmonster) explosions by using your shield.
    4. Those pig things with crossbows you found in the Nether are called Piglins. They usually have gold armor or gear, so if you make gold armor, you can easily blend in.
    5. Not all Piglins can be friendly. Piglin Brutes can, and will, attack you even when you have gold armor. They are commonly found in Nether Bastions. Huge structures made of Basalt.

You can place water after creating a barrier, the first time you did it you placed it on a block that had grass on it. Therefore it placed it above the grass, which was also above the barrier you already built.

I really wish that you will continue doing some Minecraft streams. 🥺I really enjoyed them. Maybe the Minecraft 1.21 is motivating you to continue with the game.
There will be added some types new copper blocks, including some which have some sort of girder and mini-truss texture. This New Trusses are amazing! The are making a bridge look much stronger and more realistic than ever before! This mini-trusses are also good for detailing tiny structures (for example cranes or poles).
Although this new blocks are under development, it’s very likely going to happen that Minecraft-Players are able to enjoy a view of a wonderful looking trussbridge in Vanilla Minecraft soon.

    RCE Minecraft video, AWESOME...
So glad you hit your goal, I love Minecraft.
A few hints, Your 1st well failed because there was a plant in the hole and your water got placed on top of it (Else it would had worked 1st try).
When you goto the nether (That very red dimension) wear some gold armour so the piglins don't attack you Eg: Boots can be crafted from 4x gold ingots in the crafting table (Also each gold block can craft into 9x gold ingots).
I could go on but I just wanted to point out some of the simple, yet less obvious things in Minecraft.
Your doing great, Keep up the great work.

I just discovered you and i think you need some advice:
-To use your sheild use the right click of your mouse it will protect you from damages (like explosions or bows)
-Protect the other side of the portal with cobblestone (the other side is called the nether and it's pretty dangerous)
-You can kill the golem to get iron by placing towering 3 bocks in a flat terrain, the golem will respawn
-The axe is better than the sword to deal damage
-Golden tools are faster but breaks easier
That's all that i can think for you right now
Sorry if my english is not really good beacause i'm french

Place down a 2x2 area of water (contained) and fill it with water from a river, sea etc. until water source blocks (the ones that are tallest and not flowing) are filling the entire pool. If you grab water from any spot in the pool it flows back into place. Boosh, infinite water source!

  • @gristen

i got so excited seeing you figure out how the portal works. a few updates ago half built nether portals like that didnt spawn in the overworld so there used to be no hints in the game at all about how they worked. mojang did a great job adding little touches like that to the game to help out newcomers to the series. before you even had to memorize all the crafting recipes by heart because they didnt have the crafting book in the game yet. im glad they made the game a lot more intuitive and accessible now.
oh also here's a hint about the nether: piglins wont attack you if youre wearing a piece of gold armor. that big white thing is called a ghast and they can deactivate nether portals with their fireballs so watch out for them. obsidian can only be mined with a diamond pickaxe

    Some tips:
1: that place you went to is called the neather
2: you can hit the fireballs back
3: those pigs in the neather love gold and will give you things if you give it to them.
4: gold tools and armor are bad, but you can wear a piece of gold armor and the neather pigs are fine with you being there.
6: DIAMOND IS REALLY GOOD AND STRONG
7: the knobmonsters( called creepers) can be blocked with a shield and drop gunpowder, which can make tnt ( with sand).
8: you can keep the architects from school awning if you light the area up

    Loved the video!
    A few tips that might help;
If you make a 2x2 square ‘well’ with water, you can remove any block and it will automatically refill, making infinite water
Obsidian can be mined with a diamond pickaxe
The white stuff in the nether is quartz, not iron
Wearing gold armour will stop the piglin with the crossbow from attacking you
It is possible, but hard, to place water before you land to save yourself from a fall
Please keep making these it’s so fun to watch someone work Minecraft out for the first time, and also, would you try playing Polytopia, it’s a great strategy game!

There is a mod for minecraft... actually a whole mod series called "Create" that I would love to see you take a crack at. There are addons for alloy smelting, factory automation, and even meth (breaking bad style). It all runs on rotational power and stresses and you can even make your crane base work... like turn, drop the winch, and other stuff. As always, love to see your perspective on a game I love. Keep it up! Oh, and I feel the need to mention... there is a mod called immersive engineering... I feel like that one was made for you.

    A few hints:
    1. Gold is very soft and therefore Tools Made from it break really fast.
    2. Diamonds are really hard, so diamond armour and Tools are great (Yep better Then Gold and Iron)
    3. Redstone is great. (The Bugs are always the Same, before you ask)
    4. Redstone and diamonds are found Deep down in the World. AND THEY ARE GREAT! (dig tunels down there to find them)
    5. The Nether (the place behind the Portal) is the most dangerous place in the game and everyone who thinks safety is Important should avoid this place at All costs. (especially if you dont have any Armour)

Its so interesting seeing you play, discovering things as you go. Its obvious that you are intelligent (being an engineer and not an architect). But you are discovering over a decade's worth of continual game development at a rather decent rate. It reminds me of the early days of Minecraft when I was still learning and discovering things. In a way I am very jealous of you haha.

The non-zombie piglins from the Nether won't attack you if you wear at least one piece of golden armor. Although they'll still attack you if they see you mine gold or open a chest.

I really wanted to give you some tips so these are the tips: those pigman wont attack you if you wear golden armor and you can give the pigman gold and you can discover new ITEMS! As well the ender pearl its kinda rare, you also can find a fortress which you can find blazes to kill, and after that you can make the eye of ender! Throw the eye of ender and it lead you to the stronghold, after that dig the area where the eye of ender keeps falling into, and when you are in the stronghold find the end portal and fill it with the eye of ender, and then jump in! But i dont think you are ready for ALLL of that because of ALL the thing that you can discover! Keep going!

    2. The water sources you placed can be picked up again
    3. Water chages color depending on the biome you're in
    4. Reflect fireballs with your sword
    5. Wear golden armor to make the pig bois like you
    6. Where you went is called the Nether
