Installing a BENTOLINER GCL in a landfill capping system

This video shows the installation of a BENTOLINER® geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) as part of a landfill capping system.
GCLs serve as an essential barrier or as part of a multi-barrier system in landfill capping systems, thereby preventing the infiltration of water into the waste body of the landfill and therefore reducing the need for leachate treatment and gas control systems.
BENTOLINER® GCLs are composed of a layer of bentonite clay sandwiched between a woven carrier laver and the non-woven cover layer that can additionally be bonded to a geomembrane. They leverage the natural sealing properties of bentonite to swell upon contact with water, creating a self-healing, low-permeability barrier. This characteristic is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the landfill cap over time, with natural settlement or minor substrate movements.
