So happy to hear that no one messed with his pride and joy, would love to go with dad in his similar, yet stock disco 4 one day. Big thumbs up, enjoyed every second of it, especially liked the variety of vehicles.
Lol that's what I was thinking when they said at the start of the vid they'd lost 2 tyres... I thought that wheel looked like the one in Andrew's video. Amazing!
Steve was pretty game to leave his car out there for a week! Glad that it all worked out okay though, goes to show that our 4x4 community are generally a good bunch.Great video fellas. Cam.
Well done on your video. I did the Holland Track over 20 years ago. One thing I always carry in my 4wd in my 30 years experience 4WD driving in very remote areas of the Australian bush is to carry in case of tyre damage a set of Bandag truck tyre patches (big ones) of various sizes & 6 spare inner tubes. I have been in the situation similar to the tyre incident here where on my own I got out of trouble by doing temporary repair fixes using patches & inner tubes to get me back to civilization. These patches can be obtained here in Australia if you enquire at tyre outlets that deal in truck tyres.
Really enjoyed the vid, but I can see it was a series of misadventures that were exhausting. Extra kudos for pulling through with an entertaining show!
Hello from the U.S. We do similar trips without the long distances from home to the backcountry. If you ever make it to the West coast of the U.S. hit me up to see what we do over here.
Was that a proper imperial pint in the pub at the end in Taylor's hand? I'm tempted to start a spreadsheet of outback pubs that sell thirst quenching sized drinks, with plenty of research of course.. Top of the pops dudes 👍
My Pajero has factory fitted Dunlop AT20's. Just wondering should I attempt this track with these Tyres? I don't want to replace these tyres with something better until they are worn out and money is a bit tight at the moment.
I'd certainly wait until you've used up that set and bought a pair of solid all terrains 🙂 it was unbelievable how easily these tyres punctured! You wouldn't have much fun if the same happened on your pajero
A couple of minutes before the motorcycle crash, when you were riding I thought: "I don't wanna be that guy but he should really wear some protection gear, especially when riding out in the bush" xD Take it easy boys :) //A fellow dirtbike rider ;)
Hi there Alex great vid. Surprised you showed nothing passed Agnes Gnamma hole past Thursday rock to Victoria rock rd.Having done the track a number of times I've found this section through the woodlands some of the best parts of the track. Also parts of it are quite narly and if you take it too quickly through here things get broken. You did well to drive from the Namma hole to Coolgardie in a day.For anyone who decides to drive this track on road tyres. It can be done, but your tickling the dragons tail big time.regards fromBigezi
I think honestly we were just too damn exhausted! And like you say, from the gnamma hole to Coolgardie is a big effort, but we had to get it done after the setbacks and filming suffered :(
All were running 28 psi which is what the Toyota landcruiser club recommends (they maintain the track). Except the discovery, I think the pressures had to be higher on that for its low profile.
My grandfather's expression is if you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough. I hate it for the young man. I have been that guy a couple times. Glad he's ok.
+Sayntavian it did get out. Steve went back to Perth, ordered new rims and a set of all terrain tyres, hired a mine spec ute and took the new wheels and tyres out to it. That was the following weekend, the rest of us had ventured deeper into the middle of nowhere.
The problem with the tyres were they were Goodyears. They are a shocking tyre and very puncture prone, ebay cheapies would've faired better. What I dont get though is the guy has spent big money on two spares and a rear wheel carrier yet runs those tyres? Also they sell for more than many AT's
+zoezoe610 i love your thinking! Maybe if you had a tube of slaz or a butt tonne of tape you could tape up the holes and limp off the track without damaging your rims
@@Alex.G it's funny, I've watched this series a couple of times but I'm yet to see the Busselton trip, go figure. I'll have to amend that and treat my eye balls.... after i finish the Munda Biddi that is.
Ah you must have been suffering from the 'curse of VB Ed' (he had fun on the Holland too.) Pity the trip got so badly disrupted but hey, is makes a more interesting story that way :)
Andrew from th-cam.com/video/TTKa10sJlPs/w-d-xo.html found this vehicle travelling solo and made a point of referring to how completely unsuitable the road tyres on this stranded Land Rover are for this type of touring. This is a classic example of inexperienced remote area travellers getting caught out. Can afford the Land Rover, it's full of great gear, but road tyres, and low profile at that. Simply not a good combination. $2000 worth of good quality LT construction All Terrain tyres and this vehicle most likely wouldn't have had a single tyre issue..
That's why I never cut this sort of thing out, everyone has heard the concerns about highway terrain tyres, but when they actually see just how far up shit creek it can land you....then you've really grasped the idea 😂
hope they got Bullitt proof tires on the ol Landy at the turkey nest oh look an egg .... a boong egg Alex sporting stubbies white shirt with suspenders and beau short and 3/4 length black stockings weird looking bush attire and double oh hello Jake the surfer dude! THIS trip is supported by B.E.E.R shame about the young rider smacking into the other party's vehicle much more safer than going bush with all them sharp and pointy sticks (yikes) those riders didn't have a support vehicle?
hahahaha 16:04 cheers mate :D

I think I saw that note on another "Overland" tube...
Ooo so it was your landrover Andrew from 4xoverland covered in his holland track vid!!................. 25:45 ARGH MY EYES!!
Oh no way! That's a funny coincidence, well... not really funny, more of a real bummer to have so many flats :(
th-cam.com/video/TTKa10sJlPs/w-d-xo.html 24:53
+Kenjineering yuuuup! Pretty cool little almost cross channel collaboration there hey?
Ha i was just about to comment on the same, seeing the disco in 4xoverland video with notes in the windows the car wasn't deserted.
Lol that's what I was thinking when they said at the start of the vid they'd lost 2 tyres... I thought that wheel looked like the one in Andrew's video. Amazing!
Period correct well done lads very enjoyable
I travelled on the Holland Track back in Nov 17. We had a lot of flat tyres. Great video. Brings back a lot of great memories.
Great job. Love the production. Gives a good over view of the track.

Just missed us on our trip by a few weeks.
A fellow 4wder stole my maxtrax on Australia day 2017 no 1 else could of got to where we were camped up guttered
Goes to show how important the right tyres are out on the tracks. Great video

Another great adventure !!! It just keeps on getting better and better ...Stand by mode ON ... LOL LOL ... Cheers
Top job from start to finish. Highly entertaining as usual
Darren Wilkes aaa
Highlights the importance and function of a good all terrain tyre!
No use having all the off road accessories bolted to the car whilst keeping road tyres - crazy
Really enjoyed the vid, but I can see it was a series of misadventures that were exhausting. Extra kudos for pulling through with an entertaining show!
Great stuff Alex! Love your work, keep it coming!
Great video
Thanks!
Gud shyt forkin lov it.. great Vids guyz very well put together

Nice one Alex, really good job on the video mate 👍
Taylor likes his brew cold
Brilliant 👌👍
Good stuff! Informational & damn entertaining :)
great vid Alex enjoyed it
How many litres of fuel did u use roughly on the track
Was that a proper imperial pint in the pub at the end in Taylor's hand? I'm tempted to start a spreadsheet of outback pubs that sell thirst quenching sized drinks, with plenty of research of course..

GAJ yea mate proper pint
Your project sounds like a damn good idea

@@Alex.G Thanks for the info. I might stick to easier tracks!
What are you doing on tracks with street tires?
yeah, not only that but I think they're goodyear wranglers which are made out of recycled fairy floss
Outstanding

How long was the Landrover left out there ? I saw one out there on 04/01/18 while doing a solo run out there
What tyre pressures were you running in the tyres? In the first video when lifting wheels in the air the pressures looked very low!
All were running 28 psi which is what the Toyota landcruiser club recommends (they maintain the track). Except the discovery, I think the pressures had to be higher on that for its low profile.
Great Vid. Steve
My grandfather's expression is if you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough. I hate it for the young man. I have been that guy a couple times. Glad he's ok.
Pretty sure you're supposed to leave the boot on in such an incident, acts as bandage.
(I could be wrong, first aid course was 25 yrs ago)!
Goe rims or the new 18 steelies are needed for discos
The staked tyres looked like HT road tyres to me.
+ethicalfarmer yep there wasn't much to it! Just rubber and fabric, no steel belts ☹
So how did you end up getting the Rover out? I hope I'm not making a bold assumption there... you did get it out right?
+Sayntavian it did get out. Steve went back to Perth, ordered new rims and a set of all terrain tyres, hired a mine spec ute and took the new wheels and tyres out to it. That was the following weekend, the rest of us had ventured deeper into the middle of nowhere.
That evil clown tho :O im not even a minute into the video..
The problem with the tyres were they were Goodyears. They are a shocking tyre and very puncture prone, ebay cheapies would've faired better. What I dont get though is the guy has spent big money on two spares and a rear wheel carrier yet runs those tyres? Also they sell for more than many AT's
00:40 - I see what you did there ;)
Hahaha awesome...
Could you take off the wheel and lay on it's side and fill it with dry sand , would that work and plug the hole ?
Nah mate the side walls were torn to shreds no saving those tyres
Yes low profile tyres are pretty useless off road. Good video keep them coming I like to see some WA 4wding and touring
+zoezoe610 i love your thinking! Maybe if you had a tube of slaz or a butt tonne of tape you could tape up the holes and limp off the track without damaging your rims
Probably a can of insulation foam(the yellow expanding type used in construction) might do a job for an emergency repair.
Good onya lads keep up the ripper vids. Holland Track is a great place on a dirt bike, am yet to do it in a fourby...
Looking back, I can't believe how few views this trip got, this was the champagne of content when it dropped🍾🍾🍆.
Absolutely! I felt it was WAAYYY better than the 'Busselton secret 4wd track' that exploded so much!
@@Alex.G it's funny, I've watched this series a couple of times but I'm yet to see the Busselton trip, go figure.

Western Australia Now and Then Thanks for the mention Marc.
Yes, your holland track vid is one I pull up when I need to get in a good mood. Its a ripper.
JJ's Adventures No worries mate. You must think it's a comedy ? Lol
The way you delivered it, it was pretty funny.. Just about thought it was a set up ;)
You are LUCKY that you didn't burn pouring that fuel into the bike. By a funnel.
So much for having a Sat phone.
