    What’s so weird about this is that thandi did exactly what darkskin monoracial black women wanted mixed women or lightskin black women do and that’s acknowledge their privilege and that still wasn’t enough. All the time they ask us to “acknowledge our privilege” and the moment we apparently do it’s meant with criticism?

    I’m sick and tired of these UABW calling biracial women light skinned BW. Thandie is white identified and that’s perfectly her right. What UABW need to do is address this matter with blk casting directors and production companies. UABP deliberately cast mixed and biracial women over their own then start crying all over the place and acting the victim.

    1:02 You could tell that she really was being honest about how she felt about herself in relation to black women. This is WHY I stand by my theory that it’s not good for LS women’s mental health to solely identify as black.

    Lets also acknowledge the fact that Zendaya and Thandie/Thandiwe are about 30 years different in age so the things that Zendaya can do now are because of all these women that came before her. Thandie did not necessarily have that privilege coming up in Hollywood when she did. The scales are tipping. Now on the other hand, I have seen Thandie in roles that any type could have played i.e. Mission Impossible. Great topic and discussion btw. I enjoy the content.

    • @user-bx2xe8st4s

      Exactly. I was surprised not to see a white woman in the role that she played in Mission impossible. That to me is a white woman’s role. So now what roles does she take from dark black women? Looks like absolutely nothing, just another agenda.🤪

    I have a Dark-skinned mom It's hard to overcome not seeing your mom in the face of every dark-skinned woman. But they are not your mom. Your mom is your mom. I get it you want to be nice and make the world a better place. America's dark skin Exile is not your fault. You might say to yourself that could easily be my mom. We talk a lot about daddy issues but we don't talk as a society about mommy issues. She just wanted to take all the blame but that's a lot just to put on One Singular person. Her mom is dead or alive I pray that see show more attention to that relationship and stand in her strength instead of this victim mentality. This is the light-skinned victim mentality right here can you do one on the light skin Survivor mentality?

      @PrettyWorldwideOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I def get where you're coming from with having a dark skinned mother-it's hard not to project her image on the women who share her likeness but it's also harmful sometimes. I do the same thing myself sometimes around older women. We don't talk enough about Mommy issues but I think the BC suffers from it a lot. I can speak on this because I've had to work through both mommy and daddy issues. I'll do a video on LS Survivor mentality-that's a really good idea! @@PrettyWorldwideOfficialright. I have an UADSBM as a father and I am reminded of him when I see black men. But that also doesn’t mean I will allow black men to mistreat me . I don’t have to be everyone’s social justice warrior. I choose to speak on things that effect me personally and I allow men who look like my dad to create spaces for his phenotype and experiences . We can’t be everything to everybody and light skinned women are tired of being pulled in and out of everyone’s communities . We can’t save everyone . also just because we don’t stand up for a particular thing doesn’t mean we support that thing. I’m not out protesting about racism but it doesn’t mean I support racism. People have different ways of expressing themselves and lighter women have freedom of speech just like anyone else .

    After everything said, my take away is, at least she didn't pretend like she didn't see it happening, she admitted to seeing it happen while she was operating from the inside. A lot of light skinned women gaslight dark skin women about it. Most of them do. And then it's twisted into envy for light skin girls. Most light-skinned girls just say "you're just jealous that they're always choosing me." But this is a light-skinned girl looking deeper saying "I've seen so many times where they should have chosen a darker skin girl and they didn't." I do respect that acknowledgement.

    I love Thandie… but the truth is she has NEVER got a leading role that won a major award and made her ultra-famous. Colorists are mad that Thandie is consistently cast as the pretty girl- whether it’s as a tragic pretty victim, alien femme fatale, love interest in a spy movie, I haven’t seen Westworld but it looks like she plays a femme fatale robot in there, etc. They were hating on Thandie being typecast for her beauty. Because let’s face it, actresses that look like Hattie and Viola do not get typecast as hot girls and femme fatales. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

    • @PrettyWorldwideOfficial
      @PrettyWorldwideOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      LOL!! Exactly, you nailed it-they're jealous of the fact that she's been type-cast as the "pretty/hot femme fatale" but acting like they're just upset at her success. That's such a great distinction!! The gaslighting and deflection is so real. 🤣

  • @SunshineState-ou7pr

    Honestly, tandi is a half black woman herself, so how were the roles she was taking snatched from dark skin black women? Unless the roles she was playing was a true story and the original characters were dark skinned. Tandi didn't need to apologize. She was a good actress, we need to stop blaming other people for taking privileges that they wasn't responsible for giving. Dark black skin is beautiful and unambiguous black women are beautiful as they are, just accept yourself, love you and ignore the hate. There is nothing wrong with your dark skin, it's something wrong with people who hate you or your dark skin. Be confident. Black women need more roles as wives and mothers next to black men in Hollywood
