USA's serving game was spectacular in this match. It's ironic because service errors used to be their waterloo. I hope Japan qualifies, too.
If USA is good enough, the will play easy and let Japan qualifies only if they win against Slovenia. The spot is very tight bcs Slovenia is not the strongest in the Europe so they will give their all.
Japan already qualified for the Olympics. So basically the match with Japan will just be a free match for fun lol

I used to think that USA is too dependable on the veterans like Matt Anderson, Max Holt, or David Smith but looking at Serbia they really need to do player regeneration asap. They need to keep up with the pace of the younger players. They were totally crushed for the last 2 days.
Well, of the three side attackers two were younger (Peric, Kujundjic) and they netted -6 points combined. Yet Serbia's coach lets them play all three sets. I kinda like the guy, but think Serbia's problem starts with the coach.

Nice to see more court time for Max Holt. They have to strengthen their defense even more on pipe attacks. They're going to meet Japan tomorrow. Japan setter Sekita likes to give it to Ran Takahashi when he's in the back line. Congrats USA. 🎉
I hope they will not have a Tokyo repeat in Paris. They were spectacular pre-Tokyo. On papers they were one of the favorites but sadly they lost at the preliminaries. Though somehow it is understandable due to injuries of some of their key players. I hope they retain their form and have a podium finish

True. Russell was injured and was excluded. Anderson was out of shape. It was a myriad of factors. I think their chances in 2024 will be better barring injuries.

Both US and Japan have qualified for the Olympics for this pool due to the US having the highest amount of points and Japan winning nonstop after Egypt, basically caught up in points. So, for the match against Japan and the US, it will be a free match :)

USA were in system for the significant portion of the match that’s why middles got fed a lot. And those serves are nasty. If they continue to be like this, it’s going to be USA, Poland France and (Brazil or Germany) as final 4 in Paris 2024 Olympics

What happened to Serbia?
They use to be one of the best volleyball team years ago
We are struggling, we hardly pass, we hardly serve well, we don't have tactically sound players, we are quite a poor team in terms of volleyball, everything goes wrong, something goes well and then it's a disaster. And we always have an excuse, when we lose to a stronger national team, for example Poland, in the European tournament, our ears hurt and we keep saying that the next time will be, and it will be, and in the end, nothing will happen, if we continue to promise that it will be better and it doesn't get too long, these results will be normal and even worse.
