    As a lightskin black man this truly offends me and it’s horrific. I hate when people make fun of dark ski women because my Nigerian grandmother is a dark skin woman and I love her. Being lightskin doesn’t make you pretty and being dark skin doesn’t make you ugly and vice versa

    To me, Colorism and Racism are two sides of the same coin. LS people calling DS people “colorism cry babies” has the same energy as ⚪️ people shaming ⚫️ people who talk about their experiences with racism.

    • @catlady3024
      @catlady3024 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +153

      Also, there are levels to oppression. A LS person saying they face colorism holds the same weight as when a ⚪️ person says they face racism. Sure, both can experience their own form of discrimination because of how they look, but we all know that the closer to monoracial ⚫️ you look, the harsher the discrimination. The sad reality.

    • @AngelicaEstherxo

      same as black people shaming mixed or lightskin women who talk about their experience..... but ya'll love to skip on that one.

      @catlady3024 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +99

      @@AngelicaEstherxo I personally don’t believe anyone should be shamed for talking about the discrimination they’ve faced. What I don’t agree with is people who aren’t ⚫️ or who don’t have a darker complexion talking about their discrimination to suggest that they face greater discrimination than those who are both ⚫️ and darker complected. In a world where proximity to ⚪️’ness gives you privileges, it is impossible to be more oppressed or discriminated against than someone who is completely monoracially ⚫️.

    Idk why anyone would expect more from ekane. She has her children living in a household where domestic violence occurs on a very regular basis. If she doesn’t give af about herself for her own children. Why would anyone expect her to have any level of morality or basic intelligence??? And miss me with the “it takes people ______ times to actually leave”. After someone makes the decision to bring defenseless children into the world and raise them. They themselves no longer have top priority in their own life. Their children do.

      Girl same, my parents are on different ends of the spectrum. My mom has always told me how beautiful my skin is, but because all my closest relatives are light besides my dad(deep rich dark brown with red undertones), I didn't learn to live my skin till I got older. Colorism is everywhere, even seeing how my mom had privilege compared to darker women had me questioning myself subconsciously as a child. I pray for the folks who make their skin color their whole personality. Whole time we needed to be loving and growing on the inside.

    I’m an Igbo-American woman who was raised in South Jersey and had friends from different cultures. As an older Millennial, the n-word was never casually used to refer to someone you didn’t really know, including other Black ppl. It was predominantly used in rap music by rappers to refer to other Black ppl. And when it was used publicly, it was well understood that only Black ppl could say it to other Black ppl. White ppl (and yes, including White Hispanics) were never given the okay to use that word publicly to refer to Black ppl. That’s something that is being allowed by younger generations, which is unfortunate. It was well known that any White person dropping the n-word risked getting beat up by any Black person that they said it to, at least where I’m from. I don’t allow ppl to call me the n-word and I never have. It still is a derogatory term, especially when it is said by White ppl 🤦🏽‍♀️.

    I told my friend this earlier and I'll say it again: THIS ISNT THE TIME FOR DARK SKIN WOMAN TO SPEAK ON THIS TOPIC instead this is a time for us to pay close attentiion to the LS black woman WHO ARENT SPEAKING UP! we've been saying this for YEARS and some been fearful of saying it but THIS IS THE TIME for LS woman to speak up to their fellow LS because when we do it-IT'S NOT RESPECTED its "OHHH here they go again" but now they see their own spekaing OUT on this n what are they doing? MUTE! even her bestie Raymont who blasted cardi lasst month for the exact samething, he isn't even speaking up n this just tells u alot! 14:57 Gretchen is a white Latino who “grew up around Black people” and I don’t care. If you go to work and won’t say it at work then you shouldn’t say it. It’s ridiculous. The producer should’ve kicked her off.
    I take offense. I don’t care. There’s so many words we learn from different cultures that we know we can’t repeat it.

    All ima say is, idc what black person lets you say the N word, don’t say it around me and don’t call me one. I’ve been tried before and had to tell someone that and whoop up on em. That is a contemptuous term for black people and honestly i don’t even think we should say it. Mind you, the fact that black people set majority of the trends, when they hear black people say it, they’re gonna wanna hop on and say it too just like they do with every other trend we start. If we don’t want people to say it then stand on business and let’s cut it out as a whole. Jela’s from GA like me so I understand where she’s coming from. And depending on what parts you stay in (majority Ga) you will run into many racist people. We don’t play about that word down here and we don’t play about our respect. We understand it’s different in the north but you don’t know other people’s experiences when it comes down to that word. I’ve been called that by white people and Mexicans and not in a “good way” so I’m not about to take it lightly from nobody no matter where I’m at just because y’all all use that word up north or somewhere else.

Not to mention, she's been called out for dating a 13 y/o when she was 18 plus would make remarks on her facebook when she was of age saying "idgaf if he was 13, i need him on me." but colorism is where people are finally drawing the line...but then you also got the people who are always saying "idc ima still follow and watch her, they could never make me hate heerrr" lol yeaaaa okay!!!! the internet is so unreal chile

    Ekane BEEN saying slick colorist comments for a WHILE! She even asked her daughter to describe her own skin tone introducing colorism to her daughter. Another instance, she asked Chris if he liked “this Erica or that Erica” in reference to her tan lines and I could tell she was fishing for him to say the lighter side but he said the darker one because he probably knows what she wanted but humbled her.
