  • My name is Kevin Volpe, It's been a little more than 8 years that I've had my Broca's Aphasia. I had mine on March 22, 2011. First I will tell you what Broca's Aphasia is all about. People have difficulty producing grammatical sentences and their speech is limited mainly to short utterances of less than four words. Producing the right sounds or finding the right words is often a laborious process. People like me have more difficulty using verbs than using nouns. A person with Broca’s aphasia may understand speech relatively well, particularly when the grammatical structure of the spoken language is simple. However we may have harder times understanding sentences with more complex grammatical construct. Kevin had a massive stroke to his right side, while his right leg has improved greatly his right arm has not. He has lost the ability to think and speak and that is his big issue right now. Next week he may go to a rehab center but his DR.s are not sure his brain function will come back any more then it has right now. Yes he can say mom and words like no, yes but not more. The signals from the brain to his speech and his ability to swallow are very diminished. I wish I tell you that he shall return but I can't, not yet but know this we will fight along with him and the Big Guy Upstairs to bring him as far back as we can. Please keep the Prayer's coming and think of him once in awhile. Fondly Pats
