I was just searching for texture sheets and was 😳 at the prices so I was happily surprised to find your tutorial! Thank you so MUCH! My husband thanks you, my wallet thanks you & I thank you for sharing. ❤
Thanks for providing additional information about homemade texture plates. The flexibility of Souffle and the longer baking time to increase flexibility is particularly useful. Great tutorial!
Thanks so much for this, forthose on a budget it's just sad to see all the amazing things people do with texture mats. Your video was clear concise and really opened my mind to just what you can do, especially love the shell and the charm!!
Thanks for sharing this. Although you ummed and ahhed a little, it didn't detract from what you were saying. I loved seeing what you used to make textures. You made so many lovely ones! I am excited to look around my house to see what I can make with my clay now. That tip you gave about using a piece of materiel to make a power puff was brilliant. Your ideas were really great and very useful to know. Thank you and God bless you.
Very helpful Patricia! I have been thinking about trying this for a while now but always wondered what kind of clay was best to use. Thanks for the info!
Thank you Patricia, I am so impressed with this tutorial, I never thought of doing this to make a texture mat, I have been looking at making them with silicon, but this makes more sense. Well done and once again thank you for sharing your ideas.
Thank you Patricia for sharing this very informative video. I really hope you continue making them. They are so helpful and your work is so beautiful💕. Jocelyn
Thank you Patricia!! Such great tips. I made my first one way too thick for the pasta machine. But I, too added Sculpey mold maker to my Premo to make it more flexible. So anxious to get busy making great textures. ♥
A wonderful selection ...thank you so much for sharing ❤...could I ask what the shell was - I'm particularly interested in making mushroom gills and this looks ideal ! Many thanks 😊
thank you, I am having a hard time finding what I want with commercial texture sheets, so this gives me info and confidence to try some of my own. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing these great texture sheet ideas, but I always make my own clay, so is there a way to use my home made clay into texture sheets & still be able to make them flexible?
Hi Patricia, watching you make the impressions for a texture sheet, gave me a few ideas, when you said that you had to fill some of the holes that the sea urchin made with a baller tool, that gave me this idea,,!! Using a little clay to make a pen size roll, then add a bead,by cupping clay around the bead of the roll making it half or quarter size of a normal pen, that can be glued then cupped round the besd and then baked, and using same idea with a snowflake spacer, so that , metal spacer stays on the roll after being glued,,I think it would work, and will try it out, please let me know what you think,,!!the bracelet and pendent you made is beautiful,,great ideas🌺🌹🌺🌹🍁
I have a boat load of those ribbon clamps - Please tell me where I can find the info for Syndee Holt and those bracelets? I LOVE those! I also have those dragonfly charms and will be making a texture sheet of them. I was just complaining that I didn't have enough texture sheets. THANK YOU for sharing, Patricia! Love your videos and your work!
Thank you ! You must've been reading my mind ! I crave texture with dragonflies but I cannot find this specific Kor roller here in Europe :( I even attempted to make my own texture sheet but it was not nice enough - now I think I used wrong clay (too hard). Thank you so much
Thank you for the answer Patricia, but I used FIMO and I cured it according to the manufacturer instructions and they dont' last. Can you please suggest clay brand and curing time. Thank you. Vassilis from greece.
I really like Souffle Clay for texture sheets, or Premo Clay. Curing them at 275F or 130C for at least an hour. But you have to be sure of the temperature, just setting the dial to the right temperature may not work - most oven are off quite a bit, so you must have an oven thermometer to be sure. Usually if they break, the oven was too low to cure them correctly. As an example I have to set mine at 290F so that it reaches the 275F that I need
Thank you very much, I do not have Souffle in Greece but I can find Premo. I will follow your instructions and I will see the results. Thank you again, I appreciate your answer. Vassilis from Greece
I'm not sure what Bake and Bend is... Bake and Bond? The liquid is not the same as the Sculpey mold maker. The sheets can be made without the mold maker, just bake them for a long time and keep them fairly thin.
Patricia Roberts-Thompson it is actually clay....darn..I didn’t keep the package. Anyway. I got a set of 6 in the clay section of Micheals. When it is baked, it is very flexible. I think they geared this product for kids. Lol. I am going to try your method and will keep you posted.
How about a negative and a positive impression? Very interesting technique. Those who have stamp impression cutting machines would find this a great idea.
Thank you! excellent video; I made a texture sheet from one of the ceramic stamps I'd made when I did pottery, but I made the mistake of making it thick, doesn't bend at all. Now I know better, I'll redo it.
Thank you Patricia for the given information. I would like to ask you what is the durability of theese textured mats, how long you can use them? Vassilis from Greece
Just amazing work! Thank you, Patricia. Also, from reading the other comments, I find that you also have a Facebook page. Please consider putting your Facebook page address permanently in your video description section. I think _all_ your followers need to know you have that. ♥
I posted Syndee Holt's live video on my Facebook page facebook.com/PatRobertsThompson?ref=hl She explains how she made and assembled the straps. The center part of my bracelet is from my Sea urchin Texture, coloured with Pan Pastels
I trust my oven not to spike or get too hot while it's coming up to the temperature that I want. Having ceramic tiles and - or bricks in the oven helps with that, and always cover your work with a disposable aluminum baking tin to keep it from scorching. I just add extra time to my baking to accommodate the preheating, so yes, I guess it is easier!
Check out Rock Shops and watch for Gem and Mineral shows. I got mine at an annual Gem and Mineral show which comes to my town. It wasn't expensive 10 dollars I think
Hello Patricia, When you are talking about the souffle clay are you referring to "Sculpey Souffle clay" ? By the way. I am Super new to this craft. Wish you had suppppeeeerrrr beginner videos, because I just Love the way you explain things.
Yes, Sandra, sorry i didn't make that clear. I'm really starting to love that clay! I'm sure you'll do fine, there are so many beginner clay videos out there. Just jump right in and above all - have fun with the clay!
Patricia, love your videos. This is interesting. I tried it but guess my clay wasn’t soft enough, my impression was t as good as yours. Will try again.
I got really good results with just the Souffle clay, if that works for you, also Sculpey makes a clay called Bake and Bend, some of that in your regular clay will help with the flexibility
No one on youtube uses gloves -- have you all had your fingerprints removed? I get fingerprints all over my work no matter what I do, unless I wear gloves. Please, tell me your secret! :)
lol! I have developed a lighter touch, so that I don't leave as many fingerprints as I work. I also use the side of my hand a lot to erase fingerprints and marks. Burnishing with deli paper helps a lot too, also great for reducing the amounts of bubbles between layers. If the clay is hot and sticky, you'll have more trouble with prints, let it cool down a bit before smoothing. Petting the clay lightly with your fingertips will erase prints as well. Sometimes I'll use a bit of cornstarch pounced on the clay, and rubbed into the surface - I don't do that as much as I used to, probably because I handle the clay with less pressure. Easier to avoid the problem than fix it. I have tried gloves and finger cots, but they just annoy me
I was just searching for texture sheets and was 😳 at the prices so I was happily surprised to find your tutorial! Thank you so MUCH! My husband thanks you, my wallet thanks you & I thank you for sharing. ❤
Nature is an endless and free resource!

Thank you Patricia, I am so impressed with this tutorial, I never thought of doing this to make a texture mat, I have been looking at making them with silicon, but this makes more sense. Well done and once again thank you for sharing your ideas.
Oh how I love this! I would definitely super glue a small bead on the back of the dragonfly to pick it up without messing up the clay. Tytyty for this

Thank you very much! Great tutorial! Do you have a tutorial on how you made your lovely bracelet? 💕
Thank you Patricia!! Such great tips. I made my first one way too thick for the pasta machine. But I, too added Sculpey mold maker to my Premo to make it more flexible. So anxious to get busy making great textures. ♥
Thanks Nancy, Hope you have better results next time! Even the thick ones can be used, just with hand pressure instead of the pasta machine
A wonderful selection ...thank you so much for sharing ❤...could I ask what the shell was - I'm particularly interested in making mushroom gills and this looks ideal ! Many thanks 😊
Some great information Patricia thank you ❤️
Thanks Janet
This was so helpful! I was on the right track but had too much Mold Maker mixed in. Thanks so much! 💜
Thanks Amy, I did the same thing, too much Mold Maker makes the clay mush!
I cant seem to find the mold maker. Can you tell me what it is made of so I can find a similar product. I too live in Canada.
Thank you for this tip.
thank you, I am having a hard time finding what I want with commercial texture sheets, so this gives me info and confidence to try some of my own. Thanks for sharing

Sure Angela, give it a go! You may be on to something!
Great tutorial how long do you bake it to make it flexible ?
I like to bake mine for 1 and 1/2 hours

Thank you, I struggled with posting it, as there are other ones out there, hopefully mine adds a bit to the mix!
Patricia Roberts-Thompson, absolutely it does, your explanation of the two, different clays is great info.
This information was great. I tried making a few with regular clay but they are rather rigid. I will try with Souffle next time. thanks for sharing!
Thank you ! You must've been reading my mind ! I crave texture with dragonflies but I cannot find this specific Kor roller here in Europe :( I even attempted to make my own texture sheet but it was not nice enough - now I think I used wrong clay (too hard). Thank you so much

Would the Bake and Bend work for large sheets? Wow!
I'm not sure what Bake and Bend is... Bake and Bond? The liquid is not the same as the Sculpey mold maker. The sheets can be made without the mold maker, just bake them for a long time and keep them fairly thin.

Sounds like it would work well, I've never seen that product, let me know how it works!
Patricia Roberts-Thompson I made a couple and it works great. Thanks for inspiring me.
Great, I have to see if I can find that product!
TYFS Patricia. Very interesting.

How about a negative and a positive impression? Very interesting technique. Those who have stamp impression cutting machines would find this a great idea.
Definitely Lyn, the dragonfly mat that I made was done as both the negative and positive.
i would love to see a tutorial on that dragonfly pendant :)
Thank you! excellent video; I made a texture sheet from one of the ceramic stamps I'd made when I did pottery, but I made the mistake of making it thick, doesn't bend at all. Now I know better, I'll redo it.
Thank you, I'm so happy you found it helpful!
Thank you Patricia for the given information. I would like to ask you what is the durability of theese textured mats, how long you can use them? Vassilis from Greece
If they are properly cured and made with a strong clay, they will last for a long time. It really depends on how well they are cured
Patricia, absolutely love this and your blue piece is great is that done with Kato liquid clay? thank you for this video.
Thanks Rosy, the blue dragonfly piece is coated with the UV Resin that I showed in my last couple of videos
Just amazing work! Thank you, Patricia. Also, from reading the other comments, I find that you also have a Facebook page. Please consider putting your Facebook page address permanently in your video description section. I think _all_ your followers need to know you have that. ♥
Thanks Cheryl, good suggestion!

Thank you!
Can you tell us where to find the video tutorial for the bracelet you are wearing?
I posted Syndee Holt's live video on my Facebook page facebook.com/PatRobertsThompson?ref=hl She explains how she made and assembled the straps. The center part of my bracelet is from my Sea urchin Texture, coloured with Pan Pastels
Hi, could you llist the names of the products you used and where I could get them?
Did you use clay to make your own sheets or a diffrent material
Thank you Patricia
You're welcome Leona!

Excellent, thank you
Curious why you don't preheat your oven. Is it just easier?

At what temp do you bake these?
How can they be flexible? U bake them or not?
Patricia where did you get your ammonite?

Baby sock a great idea m any thanks Patricia🇦🇺
Thanks Marion, it wasn't my idea, I wish i could remember who suggested it first!
😍
I can never get a clay sheet that large out of my pasta maker. Drives me crazy!
I've got an Atlas 180, it's got a 7 inch width - makes it easier to get the big sheets!
Patricia Roberts-Thompson if you ever get a chance, id like to see you make one. Throw it into a tutorial if you can! Lol thanks 😊
