Thanks for the video! I bought 4 Mosins at the turn of the last century. I gave away 1 and sold 2, all of those 3 were 91-30s. There was very little info on Mosins at the time and the 4th, the weird short one, was the redheaded stepchild. My remaining Mosin is the little oddball '59.
I have 2, picked them up at a pawn shop. One dated 1943, one dated 1944. Excellent shape. Both of them started out as full length 1891/30 mosins. Interesting rifles, both kick hard, brutal recoil.
Got my 91/59 in 1991 when I was 16. I had no idea what it was but the guy at the hardware store said it was plenty powerful enough for moose and the sticker price was 79.99 Canadian. I shot my first caribou with in 9 years later (180gr S&B soft point) using the iron sights. Setting the rear sight to 3 1/2 put my point of impact 2" high at 100 yards which I figured would put me close to zero at 200 yards. I think the caribou was within 100 feet when I shot him. Recently I put a 2-7x Vortex Crossfire scout scope on it (relax, no permanent change to the rifle). I got a 1 1/8" 3 shot group off the bags at 100 yards (fluke?) and was ringing my 8" plate with decent regularity shooting offhand at ranges between 100 and 125 yards. Not bad for a rifle built in the 40's and chopped up and refurbished in the 50's or 60's. Only real complaint I have is that she rimlocks if I don't pay attention loading her. The interrupter/ejector spring doesn't look quite right to me so that's probably the issue.
I just got my first 91/59 All matching serial numbers any idea where I can go to tdy to locate more about this rifle. This rifle was made in 1938 Any help would be greatly appreciated

Interesting video! I just posted a video yesterday comparing my M91 to my M44. Thanks for posting this!
I'll check it out man. I love each of those rifles.
Now that's a beautiful rifle. Please don't sell it. Wish I had all my rifles back that I sold thinking I needed something new. Never stops.
Certainly not one to sell these old girls! The history is too cool for me to want to get rid of them certainly for something newer and easier to get.
@@themosindude7925 great attitude. I use to feel the same way. wants change. Just sayin.
@@easttexan2933 change can be nice but not at the expensive of losing these guns haha
@@themosindude7925 well that makes me feel better lol 😀
