  • A quick look at the Marlin 1894 lever action in .357 magnum with an AAC Tirant 9 suppressor.
    I neglected to mention it in the video, but since I'm sure someone will ask; with the barrel cut down to 16.5", the mag tube holds 8 rounds.
    If lever action rifles in general tend to make you drool, be sure to check out www.grizzlycustom.com/

    I'd love to see a series where you test .357 loads out of a 4" revolver and a 16" carbine.

      Andrew at TFB (on you tube) has done several tests between revolver and lever gun. His 357 mag test showed the 158s defeating level III soft armor when fired from a lever gun

    I can't deny that is one sweet setup! I like how you've subtly added some "tactical" aspects while still preserving the classic vibe. Great job.

    Took a family member shooting recently. First time she had been to the range in 30 years. She didn't like shooting my hi power or my model 10. She loved my lever action .357 and M1 carbine especially with the red dot on the M1. She also enjoyed my pocket hammerless. My first time taking what for all intents and purposes is a first time shooter to the range. Light weight and low recoil are defiantly the way to go if I'm ever in that situation again.

    357 mag is an excellent deer and black bear round when fired from a rifle. Both my kids learned to shoot with a winchester 94 in 357 mag and both harvested their first game animsls using it.

    Great video, great gun.
    I used to mostly like semi auto pistols and have purchased a few that I still own (Colt 1911, Sig P226, Glocks, etc.) but for all the time i have been shooting, nothing compares to pure shooting FUN like a pistol caliber lever action. I have 4 (2 Winchester 92's in 44 rem mag) and 2 Marlin 94's in .357.
    I know people always tell me, "A lever gun for SHTF?!" but honestly I just like to shoot and have fun and not every single damn gun has to be about the world somehow dropping to a state of complete anarchy. That's not to say that a pistol caliber lever gun can't hold its own.

    My 1980s Marlin 1894 in 44 mag used to bind with 44 specials. The original extractor broke and I took it in for repairs and after that, never an issue with either round. I bought mine new at K-mart.

    A year? Anyway, I bought a Marlin 44mag, around 80, and sold it for a Marlin 375 Big Bore. I shoulda known that caliber wouldn't last. The good news, I sold the 375 for almost 5times what I bout it for, about 12 yrs. ago. Many years later, I'm in the hunt for another lever in a handgun cartridge. Nice vid.

    Cool mods. I was looking for one of these (in .357) 9-10 years ago and let myself get talked into a used .44mag in good condition. I have to say, the recoil on the 44 mag is on the stout side so I used .44 special...and wish I looked harder for the .357

  • @WolfieRogers
    @WolfieRogers 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I own a Marlin 30-30 and love it. My reasoning for a .357 lever action is because I am a proud gun owner of a SW 686 revolver in 357 and want a lever action because I cannot get a semi-auto in .357 and I know a lot of people who are expanding their gun collection to involve the majority of common calibers they have. And I would love to have a .357/.38 lever action for small game if not medium game hunting. Along with if you find an 8-10 round lever action for $535-$650 or so it would be a good home defense gun however the cocking noise would give away tradition self defense situations but anyway I want a lever action in this caliber because because I already love the caliber in another another gun and want a lever action in it.

I have a Marlin 1894CP and have the enlarged lever and the Rail with XS sights. I put a Trijicon T1 on it but I'm looking at the newer RMR type sights. 125gr JHP that give me about 1450fps out of my 4" 357's give me 2050fps out of the Marlin. Underwood 125gr gave me 2500fps

    In CA and IL 10 rounds is max and no automatic feed - so cowboy action carbine doubles as your tacti-cool carbine. One of those 308 bolt action scout rifles with the 10 round box clip would clearly be a better martial arm, but my Rossi 92 shoots the same cheap and easily available 38 and 357 as my trusty (fingers crossed!) Taurus Tracker.

      +Salty Diarrhea As jadedengineer said, the Liberty Mystic is one can that will handle magnums, though I'm sure there are others. But .357 will still be supersonic, and half the fun of shooting this rifle suppressed is how quiet it can be with subsonic .38 ammo. So unless I decide to use the 1894 for something other than the range, I doubt I'll put a different suppressor on it anytime soon.
