I started the evening off listening to Wes Montgomery , and then I found another gem listening to STEPH JOHNSON & ROB THORNSON ! STEPH , you are a truly amazing , generous and genuine spirit ! Keep the love flowing and the smiles showing ! with love , Ricky Artist Kogerup
Steph sounds purely natural. Fun to see + hear play all three of them. Must be a pleasure to perform towards an audience of enthousiastic connoisseurs.
Hi Steph, Wow, so glad to have found you here (thanks to jamofthewwek :), you're a fantastic singer and player! I'll make sure to check more of your stuff.... so far, all the best from germany - Uli
No play Cottontail! LOL! Just kidding. Really cool actually. I love this song so much and I've been pulling my hair out trying to learn the Smokin' at the Half Note version. I'm more of a straight up blues player so the phrasings and fingerings of jazz are much harder to get used to. I will just keep on practicing. Great job!
I'll never be as good as her, but I'd rather see here than many who "might be" better...not just because she's smiling which is good but selection and feel.
The spirit of Emily Remler?? Emily would be extremely upset. Where is the attention to detail in this song? Where is the swing feel? Where is the depth of improvisation??? Why are we celebrating mediocrity? Because she’s a lady?… Sorry, got to keep it real!
Vinsu Karma , please use punctuation so people can understand what you are saying or trying to convey.… The playing is lousy. There is little attention to detail, no depth of improvisation, no swing feel, and she seems to be covering up her shortcomings with laughter, smiles and throwing her hair around.… This is not good at all. And it’s really a shame that we celebrate mediocrity. I appreciate the fact she’s trying to keep Jazz alive but that’s about it. And we should not give her a pass for being a girl.
Great job, Steph! Plus, that is the way to play--with pure joy!

Jazz is not supposed to be moody hipster music.
Jazz is whatever the musicians want it to be. That's why its so great!

I like their four on six. Actually, drummer is also quite good. when it is trio, Jazz is hard to play. i refer to hia phrase a lot.
E 335 GIBSON SEMI HOLLOW
playing that stuff on double bass is near impossible cheers my bass playing friend
Another 'Fred Montgomery" cover
Wes is rolling in his grave 😁

Sorry, got to keep it real!
so you don't like it, ok, no reason to be an a-hole
emily remler would not have thrown a fit over someone playing a wes tune loose and having fun with it because unlike you she was not a narc
lousy playing. Emily must be furious and Wes is puking
