Phil Spencer being part of the decision to pass on Destiny and Guitar Hero is wild. Wonder how many other great opportunities he's passed on. Wow. I know Xbox passed on Grand Theft Auto prior, Xbox really seems to have some bad judgment on games and industry...
That shouldn't surprise anyone though. Who's behind Xbox end of day? MS. How did MS become the juggernaut it is today? Mostly thru a bland but functional OS that basically never innovated too much and was just good enough. Hoping they make some changes like a killer handheld!
Halo combat evolved that was supposed to be a Mac game. Xbox bought. starfield away from PS exclusivity? Bad thing? I think not for next 5-6 years. Palworld bad steam to Xbox pickup? And of course playground games pickup and of course ABK and Bethesda pickups more recently, studios, I would dare say Xbox has had many many misses. But tied with the big three for games and game pickup, I would dare say Nintendo has less more first party. Sony has good and bad acquisitions, Xbox similar but I think as I mentioned^ you missed some of the great Xbox pickups, and more! Have a great gaming day everyone! This is not for comment warring.

Many publishers fumbled a chance for GTA 3, no one believed in it until it came out.

So basically Phil made bad business decisions, and ran to their parent to buy out the existing market to take away consumer choice. This industry is about being creative, you bring new and great ideas to the table, have trust in it and deliver solid products that consumers will get on board with. Phil trying the Pay To Win the market adds nothing to the industry or grows it; if you can't create, then don't be in a creative market. FYI that 76 Billion used to buy Zenimax and ABK could have made over 276 GTAVs. Imagine the influx of industry value, but instead nothing was added for the consumer, just to take control of what's popular. For me, that holds zero respect and could never get on board with. I respect risk taking and new ideas.

It looks like they will be putting all those games from the Microsoft acquisition on all platforms anyway. There seems to be a few bads decisions that is hurting Xbox. Even with the acquisitions, they aren't really putting out that many great games this generation. And then Game Pass is killing game sells for them. Now because of their bad decisions, Xbox will give away the majority of their exclusives, and personally I don't believe they won't give away all of them in the future. I don't think Xbox will be selling consoles for too many more years. Looks like they are moving towards software sells and not competing anymore.

NOT HAVING A PR TEAM WAS THE BEST TIMES FOR XBOX! THERES way tooooo many realistic memories and it felt genuine.
I love this more in depth gaming interview with Phil, we don’t see many other executives or higher ups do this.
Oh, and Phil has to answer to people too, no excuses, I stand with Phil’s direction as long as he guides the big right decisions moreso than not.
