It's clearly evident in this video that you picked up quite a bit of knowledge beyond your previous episode. The rudder is taking shape and looking good at this point. You're on the right path.

Thanks. It was an intimidating project. When we bought the boat we had researched how much a new one would be just in case. But 2 years later it's holding up good.

@@WildlyIntrepid Thanks to inspiring videos like yours we are working for our dreams. Our bid for a 41 foot jeanneau was accepted yesterday. The only way we could afford her is because she's a hurricane damaged boat. We have a lot of time and work ahead of us before she's seaworthy, but we can't wait.

Congratulations. This is so exciting. Lots of hard work to come but it'll be all worth it when you are jumping into crystal clear water from your boat or enjoying some sundowners. Friends of ours have a jeanneau which they love. Best of luck.

Your problem with using the chopped strand matting was that you used US made CSM which uses styrene as a binder in it. You need to use a polyester resin (which contains styrene) and it will fold over and adjust to your radii easily. Were you using epoxy here or vinylester? If so you would NEVER get that CSM to mold the way you want it. I assume that's what happened here based on seeing the CSM stick out past the edge of the rudder, not wanting to fold over properly.

Actually we used poly for this job. But if I recall we used biaxial which does not have binder in it. Although at the time we didn't know any of this. The edge of the rudder was just too much of a sharp radius so Instead of trying to get a perfect edge we just cut it flush afterwords and filled it in. Thanks for the insight.

@@WildlyIntrepid going by green cove this weekend to look at a boat i just bought there. It seems where they parked your for sale boat was only one or two hulls over from mine in Australia. I get to look at a famous internet celebrity.

Too funny. What kind of boat is yours? And our Hunter was purchased by a good friend of ours. We miss her but are very happy with the new one.

@@WildlyIntrepid that is the best way. You know she went to a good home. Getting into a Hunter 33.5 personally. About the same boat you had only 10 years later down the production line.
