There were a couple of things I was wrong about so I’ll go ahead and put it here: Firstly, this was the seventh location overall, not the sixth. This was the sixth rock-afire explosion though in a store. Secondly, the Fatz and Looney Bird are not from Topeka. Topeka was the first to not have the hollow frames (but did display the other beta elements such as the different head shell bolt placements) and while there are three bots known to have survived from Topeka, they don’t include those two. Mitzi did come from Topeka, but the other two are Rolfe and Beach Bear, who belong to Connor Lechinsky and Jack (Animatronicswarehouse) respectively. Thanks to Tutorial Time for pointing this out to me
Actually Rolfe and Earle ended up at Shawnee Heights Jr high which was used to examine in their shop/tech class. It was there in the early 90s but I don't know where it went or if they got rid of it.
The CeC that went on wanamaker was actually highly anticipated as we all missed our Showbiz, as us kids had grown up a little and weren't as easily scared as when we went to Showbiz. There was still a Showbiz in the city my grandparents lived and they still took me to that one in the interim. However when CeC opened, we were all kind of bummed out because it wasn't nearly as family/all ages oriented as Showbiz was, but the arcade was still fun. Kids that never got to go to the Showbiz in topeka loved Cec. We were all kind of "meh"
There was a ShowBiz Pizza Place in Topeka, Kansas from 1980 to 1986, when it closed and was not converted into Chuck E. Cheese's during Concept Unification. and there was a Chuck E. Cheese's location in Topeka, Kansas where it had a Road Stage from 1990 to 2022, until it replaced with Dance Floor + Video Wall.
Ngl this ShowBiz and Cec has got to be one of the interesting videos Iv seen! the Rae kept there early masks till 86 Jasper had his banjo and overalls pretty Rare to see at a Cec Location cuz some locations kept it and keep up the good videos Rob!
This was the Showbiz I went to growing up, and I remember it pretty well. As the place had no windows, featured a sports room and was kind of big, it would've been one of the first locations. It's flaw was the fact the show/dining room was separated from the arcade and the rest of the place with a wall that had a kind of small entryway. The showroom was very dimly lit so it was kind of dark in there, and that made the rock-a-fire show stand out in the colored stage lights, which looked kind of frightening. This place was notorious for scaring children. The red and yellow lights on Fatz made him look like a monster and it scared us. The place operated up to 1987, and closed that year or possibly 1988. They weren't able to renovate and convert the location to the more "open" space the later locations had, things like windows and opening the showroom up.
Awesome video!! This was interesting to listen to, I listen to your videos while drawing sometimes! When I hear “topeka” I think of that clip of Bloo from Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends :D
This is so cool! I'm from Topeka and have always been curious about what The Showbiz was like. Also, having the distribution center is the new coolest thing about my city!
I used to go to it a lot when I was growing up. You may have heard some urban legends about it due to the fact the place was known to scare kids. The CeC in topeka is a completely different location but the Showbiz was an early one, as it was bigger and it had no windows. The showroom/dining room was actually separated from the arcade by a wall with a small entry way. I remember it was very dimly lit and this is what made the Rock-A-Fire stand out and look frightening. The colored lights on the stage made the show look like a bad acid trip. Fatz looked the most intimidating because he had red and yellow lights over him. He looked like a demon or monster and was what scared kids the most. Somebody said it closed in 1986 but I clearly remember it being open up into 1987, closing then or possibly 1988. There are accounts that the service and food was very poor, like burnt pizzas but most likely the reason was probably because Showbiz leased the gage center location. By the late 80s, Showbiz overhauled their restaurants by making them more "open", adding windows and also opening up the showroom. The owners of gage center probably wouldn't allow the necessary alterations and the restaurant was just closed.
The Topeka Kansas Showbiz and CEC locations are super interesting, though I am sad the road stage bots got destroyed, even if they weren't in good shape.
I'm surprised Circle didn't request this to be honest, but either way we got an amazing video! This is the only other picture of Robert Brock I've seen as well. Interesting to see at entirely beta stage!
My dream would be to see you do either Boardman, OH or Mentor, OH. I think Mentor would be more interesting, as it had the last 1 stage. Both had PTTs that were retrofitted
Idea: what if instead of history of locations, what about history behind places like Billy bobs wonderland, pistol Pete’s pizza, circus pizza, etc. It would be brands that didn’t do concept unification or that Aaron Fechter sold bots too.
Hey by chance can you do the history of Chuck e Cheese in newington conneticuit I already have done some research but I haven't found much the earliest footage I could find was from 2005
I can't wait for the Laurel Maryland location history. I think I actually been there before 🤔 since I went to CEC like 5 times before and I always lived in Maryland. I know I mainly been to the Largo Maryland at the Boulevard cap center since it was like literally a minute away from my childhood house which I still live in today at 18 and then I been to two others I believe which I remember one of them still having the CEC Pizza exterior up until like 2011ish when I went. I mainly went to CEC for my cousin's birthdays in the 2000s and early 2010s and my first time was at Largo Maryland I believe when I was like 2 I think in 2008.
3:37,ok so I don’t want to sound nitpicky, but that’s just flat out wrong, fatz and looney are beta bots and are the oldest surviving Rae characters, but there not from Topeka,it’s unknown the location they came from, the actual 3 surviving Topeka bots are Rolfe, fatz and Mitzi,Rolfe is with Coonor lechinsky, beach bear is with Jack, and Mitzi as you said is with sully. Also Topeka was actually the first store to use solid steal frames, only the first 5 stores+cei’s first show used hollow frames
@tutorialtime403 I see that now…I must have assumed that they were Topeka based off the fact that it was the only show not to get sent back and dismantled. How do you know Topeka didn’t use hollow frames though? I’m guessing the known Topeka bots that survived don’t have those hollow frames? Jack categorized Topeka as “beta” so I assumed the hollow frames were a part of all of the bots.
I apologize for that. I went back and checked every comment with the word “Topeka” in it while I was working in the video, so if you made a comment then it must have been deleted at some point or you misspelled “Topeka”.
Can you do Naples Florida or do Pensacola Florida those are two unique locations in Florida one of them has the last 32 circles of light bots and the other one had the fur had one of the best condition three stages in Florida

I loved going to the Topeka CEC. It sucks that the stage is gone! I actually have a playlist of footage I took in October 2021 and August 2019.
This is gonna be such an awesome video
The Topeka Kansas Showbiz and CEC locations are super interesting, though I am sad the road stage bots got destroyed, even if they weren't in good shape.

@@ItzaRob ok good to know definitely gonna watch it when it comes out
Another video! Fantastic!
Oh also I dont know if they still have it but the Rolfe and Earle animatronic was donated to Shawnee Heights Jr high.

If you ever need a video idea, I suggest the San Antonio, TX area. Like most other cities in TX tho it is quite a big area to cover.
