Al gore in his Oscar winning documentary said the Arctic would be gone by 2013 and polar bears would be extinct. Polar bears are thriving right now and not even on endangered list. Media was also fearmongering about 10 years ago, citing "experts" that were predicting Florida would be underwater in 7 years. Australia even warned in 1999, that in 20 years, there would be no more snow. They just had historic record snowfall. Climate has always been changing. That's why ice age is cyclical and Sahara desert was lush 10,000 years ago.

This isn't an issue with the batteries. The industry is moving towards Sodium-Ion batteries with one company already producing cars with it. The government is trying to "appear" to be getting out of the electric car business, thinking they can gain more votes from people who are "anti-electric car".

I worked at the bus depot in Virginia beach. The electric busses sat at the shop continuously broken from day one. They never hit the streets and couldn't get out of the shop.
Bad vehicles or bad mechanics? The stuff is in general use in quite a few european cities and works well. A lot quiter than the older diesel versions.

In Switzerland Full electrics are having major problems .The problems include but are not limited to operation during cold weather , overheating battery in the summer, air condition not working due to lack of power, doors not opening , higher than expected operating cost. The buses are built in Mexico . Also the bus drivers are not allowed to talk to the media .
The only really reliable electric bus is the trolley bus that got its power from overhead trolley wires. Granted they were limited to streets/routes with trolley wires but they were clean, quiet and reliable.

But i think people overestimate the power the president has on the economy in general and also the pandemic had a huge impact overshadowing economic policies, which makes a 1 to 1 comparison difficult.

a modern gasoline car burns cleanly in comparison to years past. EVs arent very green at all with lithium strip mining, battery disposal, and power generation.
By the time you break even for the carbon footprint of making the EV car battery, it is time to replace the battery.

The push for EV vehicles and not enough charging stations, so working in cold weather, etc. to go along with this and the "green" movement, has anyone thought of what you're going to do with all these "dead" batteries that last 10-15 years and start piling up in landfills and begin leaking? Same question lies with the solar panels that only last around 20-25 years and then get thrown into piles

Entire highway system has underrated guard rails for high weight electric vehicles.
Guard rails are not a perfect safety net and were never meant to be; they don't stop high speed vehicles and trucks, that is just reality.
My wife and I made a 600 mile trip yesterday, 1 full tank of fuel. In an ev this would have been a 2 day trip just for waiting for charging stations to open. I'll enjoy the convenience of fuel and not waste money on an ev.

Actually, in my experience a 600 mile trip is only stopping twice for 20 mins. I assume your stops on the 600 mile trip were 40 mins or more as well.
My favorite lie I ever heard was someone told me they drove coast to coast in a single day with an EV and never had to stop to charge. Idiot clearly has never driven “coast to coast” because that drive is impossible in a single day, let alone with an EV

Albuquerque rebuilt a main street to accomodate EV busses and bought 12. Some ran three months, broke down and couldn't get parts. The milage per charge was not what was advertised. They sent them ALL back after 11 months.
Indianapolis did the same thing with a similar result.

A comment without knowledge about the problem. Electricity risk leads to staggering prices and sometimes power shortages. Nature is degraded and destroyed. The solution is nuclear power, especially in smaller units.
We can't support the current draw let alone all vehicles....these clowns want.....they are not even reliable. Batteries must be most carcinogen product there is....and people are sitting on them!!!!! Think about it!!!!!

Electricity is NOT an energy source in and of itself. Is it in the ground and just needs to be refined? Burnt to release the energy? Electricity is only the mechanism by which energy is delivered, regardless of the source of the energy, be it coal, nuclear, hydro, etc. Too funny seeing comments like this.

BTW, in case you were wondering, I am pro EV despite its current limitations. Whether nuclear is the energy source of the future really is just opinion for the time being. Time will tell.

How are EVs going to help in an evacuation scenario for an incoming hurricane if everyone's EV isn't already topped off when the order is given?
Maybe they will install pedals inside them so you can generate your own power? Pedal for 10 minutes, move ten feet.

How is this any different with a gasoline powered vehicle? Hurricane warnings happen days in advance. Far easier to charge your car before a storm than to leave the house to get fuel.

Have to laugh about that! My wife got stuck with renting an EV in California and she ended up being stuck somewhere trying to find a working charging station and wait to download an app for a charge, an app that didn't work at first before the need for customer service assistance, and then wait some more for the charge, just so she could go back from work to the place where she was staying! She definitely doesn't want us to buy one after going through all that!
EVs are definitely the future but to say they're ready for mass adoption is naive. I don't think anybody thinks everybody can and should own an EV right away.
@@imzjustplayin Before I'd even consider one, it would have to best the range of the Cadillac I owned. Not less than 500 miles of range. I have yet to see one. I have no desire to do range anxiety again, either. My wife still is adamant that she won't drive one again. In California, the rental companies now are charging an additional fee of $39/day to rent a non-EV.
@@d.charlespyle How many cars on the road have a range of 500 miles that isn't a pickup truck or a truck with an extra fuel tank? I'm certain future EVs will have this sort of range so I wouldn't concern myself with it anyway.
@@imzjustplayin Not many. But my Cadillac Seville SLS did. And I used that vehicle for work assignments every other week out of state. I consistently got 500 miles to a tank in that car. Cybertruck is supposed to have a 500-mile range vehicle in its lineup. But I don't like the $2200+/mo. payment that will come with it.
