RK: I bought it new in July of 2010. I did most of the customizing in the Spring of 2011 though. Harley added anti-lock brakes in 2011 and then made the 103 standard in 2012. I upgraded mine to 103 in 2011 with an upgrade kit and new breather and cams.
Great video - nice quality and very informative, you have put some get mod's on the bike - fantastic looking bike, looking forward to doing similar on mine - only wish we were allowed small licence plates here in the UK - unfortunately the law here does not seem to see the difference between the size of a car and a motorbike - anyway happy and safe riding!
That is a Harley windshield. It came with the quick-disconnect feature, which I preferred. I do not recall the height, sorry. I traded the Fat Boy in for a Street Glide Special a few years ago so I cannot check the height for you. Thanks for the comments. She was a great ride.
RK: I put regular Fat Boy handlebars on mine because the stock Lo bars were not comfortable for me. Like you said I had to reach too far forward. Now the riding position is perfect for me. Just sit on a regular Fat Boy and you can check out the reach. I'd recommend buying a new 2012 or 2013 bike over a 2010 used one because you get the new brakes and 103 engine. I did not know that Harley dropped the frame even lower in 2011.
@markmossop Mark, I have since moved to the Middle East and my new license plate here is not so small anymore. Of course having that extra metal on the back helps serve, somewhat, as armor for the many wonderful drivers in my new realm. Luckily the Vance and Hines Big Radius keep everyone informed I am near by. The good news here though is that the riding season never ends. I look forward to seeing some video of your bike when you get it the way you want it.
I don't recall the part number but they were the same ones on a 2011 Fatboy (not a Lo, but standard Fatboy). I liked them because I no longer had to lean forward and the grip angle was a more natural fit for a comfortable hand position.
Other wise I think your better off buying new . I was looking at a 2010 that has drag bars on it . I am thinking that it may get uncomfortable after a while because your leaning forward all the time on it . Whats your thoughts on that . You made some great upgrades to yours I was reading that in 2011 Harley dropped the frame another 1.25 '' as well making it even low
Also curious about the handlebars whether you had to make any changes to the cables/wires. I have a 2012 Fatboy Lo and just need around a 5-6" taller bar to be able to sit upright and be more comfortable.
Yes, I changed out the cables at the same time because the new bars were longer. I added the diamond black stainless cables (I think that's what they were called). I traded in my Fatboy for a Street Glide Special in 2015, but I did love that Softail.
Dang I sure was hoping the stock cables/wires would work.....may still try it with stock cables just to see what length I need added to order. Have read of others running 10" apes with stock cables/wires and just re-routing. ---- From looking on JP Cycles website....the 2012 Fatboy Lo uses a 31" throttle cable and a 62" clutch cable -- Looked up 06 to 13' Fatboy's and they also use the same length cables. So If i can get a set of the bars I should be fine with the install. The 10-11' Fatboy Lo's ran a 28" throttle cable
I bought it from a Harley shop. it is actually a handlebar bag, but I simple drilled holes in the bottom and then attached it using the two bolts that hold the back of the seat. the bolts secure the bag and they are hidden inside the bag - win/win
DS: Nope -- haven't had any problems with the LEDs burning out. The part about the breather was an inside joke between me and Godsmacker. Did not mean to offend or brag.
I got those at a Harley dealership after I removed the passenger pegs. They did not screw in but rather popped in place and were held there with a few dabs of silicone. I traded in that Fat Boy for a Street Glide last year so can't examine them for more detail. I recommend you talk to a Harley dealership to see what they might be able to recommend. I do recall that they make chrome-covered tabs, which can be held in place via silicone. Hope this helps.
Nice bike!!! I really love those handlebars !!!!! I want to get them for my 2012 fatboy. But you said they were stock fatboy handlebars. My handlebars don't look like that. What year stock? and would you have the part number? They look like fatboy handlebars from the early nineties. I think they were the best looking handlebars on a fatboy. Also, did you need to get longer cables? I seriously want to do the same to my bike and want to know what's involved. I have the tribal grips too!
Yes, Killer. They can reset the odometer with your existing mileage. That fits the 2010 model but for 2011 they have a newer one for the new wiring. The 2011 version is actually better because it relays more data but it wasn't compatible with my model year.
Marcus, that is a Harley windshield. I ordered it right out of the catalog. It came with the quick-disconnect feature, which I preferred. I do not recall the height, sorry. I traded the Fat Boy in for a Street Glide Special a few years ago so I cannot check the height for you. Thanks for the comments. She was a great ride.
Im always afraid to buy used unless it a yr or two old and I know why for sure why they are selling it and It has very low miles on it and its a few g 's below msrp . cont.

Thanks, Jungle. The flush-mounted gauge and filler cap was the first mod I made.
Great bike. The Fat Boy Lo would be my choice hands down! Love it.

Yep. I took the windshield off a year ago. I bought an Arai RX-Q in December. Dude, you must be psychic!
Awsome bike, exactly how I want mine, except with a set of black and chrome reinhart crossbacks

I know I am way late but, awesome bike man!
What an awesome bike !!!! Im planning on getting one real soon Did you buy this bike new or used .
I haveca HD windshield off my old evo wide glide. Was wondering if it will fit my 2002 Fat Boy.BUT a w shield does not suit a Fat Boy.lol
Love the handle bars. Would you have a part number? Did you have to change the cables? Great video! Thanks

Love the bike. Where did you get the bag on top of your fender bib. I want one, but can't find it anywhere

Where did you get the speedo and tach. I have a 2012 Fatboy lo and want to change mine.
I ordered it from the Harley catalog back in 2011. I don’t think they sell that version any longer though.
What did you use to fill in the threads for the rear foot pegs and where did you get them.
I got those at a Harley dealership after I removed the passenger pegs. They did not screw in but rather popped in place and were held there with a few dabs of silicone.

Can you remember what year of stock fatboy handlebars did you use in this bike in the video
@@fireflysnakeyes666 I bought them in 2011 so I assume they were from that year.
do those pipes scrape on deeper lean angles like the canyons ?
Nope. I’ve scraped the floorboards a few times but the pipes are high enough and close enough to the bike that they still retain lots of clearance.
Love the bike. What brand of windshield is that and what’s the height? :)
Marcus, that is a Harley windshield. I ordered it right out of the catalog. It came with the quick-disconnect feature, which I preferred. I do not recall the height, sorry. WRUSH2010 thank you. That is def a beautiful bike, love the mods. Your video helped me a lot wile I was working on my fatboy lo..
Nice bike looks great but on video the pipes dont sound 2 beefy
Nice bike except lose the dork shield. Get an arai full face helmet for highways.
