Big night in Sunbury, huh? Looks like that track is a little wobbly. Nice video. With the telephoto, that big blue Dash 8 kept growing and growing.. Fun to watch!
I lived on the top floor of the eddy inn and then moved into a small appt above Peter's Peter's appliance ..I loved hearin them trains go through...was very relaxing to me. wont say how much faster they went thru during the wee hours tho.. haulin' ass.
That's really incredible, and is a spot I have been meaning to visit for a long time. Tyrone is still one of my favorites, but this is just sweet, the amount of crossings blows my mind. Plus nice catch on some good blue power.
Cool video, she gets a little shaky looking when she aproaches the Market street crossing. Funny thing is this isn't even all the crossings in Sunbury. You were at the Arch street crossing by the looks of it. I believe that brick building to the left of the shot was hit by a tractor trailer in 96 that ran the crossing and was hit by a train. I grew up just outside of Sunbury in the RD and most of you are right . There are QUIT a few trains that go through Sunbury on a daily basis.
@boweandrew3 True. I think one of the only crossings with a gate is the Packer Street crossing, next to the bowling alley. But of course, nobody really stops when the gates go down...typical Sunbury style.
nice video and an awesome catch with not only a Big Blue leading, but also another one helping! Not many of the iconic Conrail BBs are left in that paint scheme
I am a Sunbury Native and the street dwi189 is filming is 3rd and Market Street, which is Sunbury's main street through the city. dwi is standing on 3rd as he films. He then zooms out and you are viewing the train from 3rd and Arch street.
it is the safest vehicle on that street... all of the other ones could swerve an run you down at any time. that train, ya pretty much knows where it is going to stay :)
God I miss the old Conrail locos, it was always the coolest to see them combined with CSX and NS units which made for some nice colorful lashups! Real pity NS couldn't have left just a couple CR units be, consists by comparison today look very stagnant and dull without them for sure
Hello there. Very nice video! Conrail lives on! :) Quite a lot of grade crossings close together; one would think that they would be seperated a little; but great video otherwise. Not one CR, but two! Great catch!
@1936case I looked it up and the building that was hit was the one across the street from you. When you pan the camera to follow the train it would be to the right of those trees behind the crossing signal in the right of your shot. clear as mud right?
Unfortunately there were 2 deaths, about 30 yrs. ago a couple of teenagers tried to jump on one of the rail cars , got both legs severed & died of blood loss, the other died of internal injuries, so yes there should be safety measures taken when these crossings take place! I left this town 22 yrs. ago and it's still the same!
i kno NS baught conrail but when a train gose to get repainted do they paint it NS logo insted of conrail logo if the train had the conrail logo on itor do they keep the same paint skeem an repaint it conrail untill the train is scraped.
as nice as this vid is, this is not street-running. street-running, is the cars and train sharing the road. this, the train has its own separate grade protected at each crossover by signals.
I HATE that Market Street crossing. HATE IT. The way the trains sway going over both sets of crossings on Market makes me nervous that they're gonna tip or something.

I swear the northeast is beautiful!!! I would be in heaven around this many train crossings!! Thanks for posting this!!

They're FINALLY fixing the Market Street crossing. About time.

Kinda cool looking how the crossing lights blink as the train gets closer
Great video man

Conrail Blue street running looks like the BEST kind of street running there is...
man itd suck to live next to those tracks
Nice near miss from the blue truck at 1:12
@xJengie well at least no one was killed wow no crossing gates at least the crossing lights make great christmas lights
Man that Conrail Engine look really good it’s a shame that NS has to repaint them but at the same time we knew it was coming!!

It's like christmas lights with all the crossing signals!
Dang that is a lot of grade crossings!! A good thing is a lot of whistle action! Great video! :)
its called a horn🎷
Always love to see the NS and Conrail action coming through downtown Sunbury Pa.

Thats ALOT of crossings, and alot of people going infront of the train!
Great place to catch trains, not only from NS but CP as well. I prefer the Packer Street crossing myself. Good video!

That's what I was thinking, I do not envy the guys who have to go out and fix all those crossings after a major rain or snowstorm, lol

wow talk about alot of crossing, can we get more videos shot from here? good job 5 stars
Where was this NS freight headin? It would either be north on the Buffalo line or up the former D&H at the time CP's Sunbury line.
i love the blue in the morning.
I'd hate to live there, every morning you'd just hear the crossings and the train horn, right out your front door...
How many crossings are there?
Does that line receive alot of traffic?
About how many trains use this line?
ignore the 1:12 comment
Awesome railfan video, 5 stars!!!!
What Comment at 1:12?

WTF?
AWESOME!!!
an engineer's hell
That train needs to go faster
It really is not street running, the right of way is separate and not in the actually in the street
Pretty dangerously close to it though
Good Catch.
When was this filmed?
Was this from 2009 or uploaded in 2009. Awesome post.
IDIOT TRUCK AT 1:11
Are you shure it is a street running train?
