I'm SO glad to know that I'm not the only one who didn't like Irregular Witches. I gave it 2 stars (should've given it 1). I made myself push through it (don't know why, should've DNF'd it). I started out reading it, almost put it down, then got the audiobook and finished it. Definitely was not for me and don't understand the hype. Excited to hear about Grady Hendrix's new book. I had 2 five-star books in November - The Women by Kristin Hannah and The Thirteenth Child by Erin A. Craig. I also really enjoyed The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center (4.5 stars). Highly recommend all 3 books! I'm excited to read light-hearted Christmas books in December. Maybe throw in some winter thrillers if I need to mix things up. Hope you get to rest and relax a little during the holidays! Take care of yourself!
Oh, Sarah, it makes me sad to see how you’re feeling around reading. Don’t worry…it will pass. Sometimes I wonder if Book Tube puts too much pressure on my beloved favorite Book Tubers😢. Hang in there! 💝
Wow, you and your book club are the first that I’ve heard of people not liking the very secret Society of your regular witches! I read it in October and gave it five stars! I can absolutely see where you’re coming from on the pieces you didn’t like. I also do agree about the love scene, I feel like they could’ve left that out of the book.
I'm all for DNF'ing books. I DNF'd 2 in the past 3 days. Some November faves: The Blue Hour- Paula Hawkins Madwoman- Chelsea Bieker A Calamity of Souls- David Baldacci The Briar Club- Kate Quinn
I so lived All the Colors of the Dark. I was afraid to tackle it because if what I had heard about his writing style, but consumed it via audiobook and just adored it!! All I wanted to do was listen to this story. ❤
I was trying to do Historathon with Lindsey from Lindsey’s little library. I only finished 2 and I’m in the middle of a 3rd. And I finished a novella that I read to my dog. My reading has been slower lately and I’m definitely not making my 80 book goal for the year.
I looked at my GR review of The Very Secret… I gave it 3 stars and basically called it “meh”. Good books deserve our full attention. And that means taking our time and reading slowly. Allow yourself the opportunity to completely enjoy your book.
I also DNF’d A very secret society of irregular witches! I thought I was the only one since I know people here on Booktube LOVE it! I wanted to love it but unfortunately just not the book for me! I couldn’t make myself finish it! 🥴
Reading is reading. Sometimes quality over quantity. For a book I just read with a lot of characters, I used a huge index card and wrote the characters names and a brief few words disscripion for me to refer them.
I’ve been trying to read more to finish my Goodreads reading challenge, but I don’t think I’ll be successful this year and that’s ok. Sometimes other things have to take priority. I did actually just finish The Au Pair Affair by Tessa Bailey. She was an author I was going to not read anything else from, but the cover caught my eye and it was a library book. So I figured I didn’t have much to lose by giving another chance. I was actually pleasantly surprised by it and might read the other 2 in that series eventually. And I’m sorry to hear Secret Society was a DNF. I’ve had it sitting on my bookshelf for over a year. Purchased it after seeing all the praise it got, but I haven’t been inclined to pick it up yet. Maybe it’s a sign. 🤔
I just finished the Wedding People and loved it. I rarely laugh at books but I laugh till I cried 3 times. Did you find it humorous? I know you said you liked it.
I haven't heard anybody dnf'ing it, sorry it didn't work for y'all. I can totally get what your getting at, there were eye rolling spots in there and the ending I think could have been better. It seemed rushed to me.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches wasn't great....I didn't hate it, but it was just meh. Don't feel bad about having less books to talk about or reading less. It's unreasonable to expect anyone, even booktubers to read non-stop. Love your videos!
I think Taylor Adam’s was a one hit wonder for me. Hairpin bridge was meh and I just didn’t like The Last Word. Currently listening to All The Ever Afters on audio and rereading The Last Time I Lied. I’m just not in a reading mood
Same with Taylor Adams. I couldn't put down No Exit! Hairpin Bridge was such an eye roller. I've always said, it would have been a great movie, but such a bad book. The Last Word was just meh for me.

Excited to hear your thoughts on Grady Hendrix!
I have been saving up Christmas romances and mysteries for December, so I am really looking forward to reading this month.

I love puzzles too but always have audiobooks going when I’m doing those.

I didn’t like A Very Secret Society of Irregular witches either! Also in a reading slump but I started a new book and am slowly coming back!❤

Me Too! I’ve been in a 6 week slump. ☹️

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches was boring. You absolutely did not miss anything with that one. I wish I had DNF’d it too.

That's why I'm reading Harry Potter. I went in a total reading slump. It was the only thing that got me out of it.
Be kind to your self,
I was very underwhelmed by Very Secret Society.
I DNFd A Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches also. I hope your reading desire comes back soon
All The Colors of The Dark was my favorite book of the year!
I DNF it too, was sooo bored
I’m in a slump right now 🤦🏼♀️

My book club picked Irregular Witches and I was in the minority because I didn’t like it. Had a lot of the same feelings! Not for me!
