Welcome back and Congratulations on the 10k! As for books, I don't read prefaces and introductions. I will wait until after I finish the book, just in case someone loses themselves and gives away too much.
Congrats on 10k, awesome achievement! I was never a fan of The Running Man, sorry it got spoiled. Agree that it does not feel like King. The Lottery is a kick in the guts, We Have Always Lived In The Castle is my favorite by Shirley Jackson. Look forward to your final top 10 list. Q & A Have you ever been a guest on a live show? Just kidding mate, keep growing.
Awesome on the 10k!! Congrats 🥳 Question for the Q&A: Do you have a "loss of innocence" book? Something that you read in mid-school or high-school, that dealt with dark , more adult themes (maybe poverty, violence or just some weird topic) which felt like it stripped you of something you couldn't name?
I am curious if you have another job outside TH-cam and how you find time to read and put out awesome videos! Also tell us more about your audiobook narrator career and how you got into it.
10k 🎉 great video as always, favorite booktuber because we share similar taste but more importantly you’re always entertaining. We need a monthly book club from you, maybe you give your community 4 choices to vote and at the end of the month you talk about it idk or include it on your monthly wrap up. Just a thought haha
I really loved The Lottery. It was my first Shirley Jackson book. I read it in 1985. Sword of Kaigen was on my radar maybe because you liked it so much I'll move it up on my TBR. Congrats on the 10k subscribers!
Congrats on 10K! Happy to have joined your cult. 😅 Have you read The Gormenghast Trilogy? You mentioned a battle scene being like a watercolor, and Mervyn Peake's writing very much feels like art made with words. I think you will like it.
10k is so well deserved. Congrats. Sword of Kaigen and All The Light.. have been sitting on my shelves for a couple of months to get around to so great to get the seal of approval. I’m reading The Book Thief right now, that seems like a good companion piece for All The Light so I think I’ll start on it pretty soon. And then there’s Royal Assassin. …no comment.
Found your channel recently and have enjoyed everything I’ve watched. Thanks for all the great recommendations. Lonesome Dove is on its way in the mail, and it sounds like Sword of Kaigan will have to get picked up sometime soon. That, and I will have to continue on with the Assassin trilogy. Love your enthusiasm and erudition.
I absolutely love the channel man, I stumbled across you a couple of weeks ago and I’ve binged straight through your videos! I was initially just interested in the Dark Tower journey as I was always intrigued by it and I really enjoyed how passionate you were about the books. I then started working through your other videos, due to your recommendation I’ve picked up a few books to read, I haven’t read any fiction in years and years but your vigour and enthusiasm really made me want to go out and pick up some books. I picked up the Blade Itself and I have to say it’s tough to put down I absolutely love it and the characters they are as you described them and I intend on delving into way more Joe Abercrombie. I also have The Gunslinger and Red Rising waiting and had the tremendous luck of finding Hyperion in a charity shop for 50p so I’m set for a few weeks! Love the channel long may it continue and grow!
Congrats on the 10K subscribers!! Since the antagonist pisses you off that much in the Fraser trilogy, I can’t wait to see what you think of the one in the Liveship Traders books 🤣 Also just some advice to read the preface/intro/anything in the front matter of a novel that’s not part of the story last. Those things often have spoilers. I used to read them first because I like to go front to back, but I kept getting spoiled.
If I could just give some constructive criticism on your channel...... I need MORE videos! 😁I'm a fairly new subscriber and have watched all of your videos (like in some sort of rabbit hole of obsession) in the past couple of weeks! I really enjoy your reviews, your passion for books, and your sense of humor. You're just a lovely bit of TH-cam. Also, as an American (and anglophile) - you could go full hard with your accent and I would eat it up! You're a delight and I'm so happy your channel/cult continues to grow. Congratulations. Well deserved.
Long time silent subscriber. Love your videos, and I'd like to make a request. Can you make n sure you select 'closed caption'?' It isn't available for me to turn on. I had the same issues with another content creator, and they said TH-cam had made some changes, and you now have to select the 'CC' option. Appreciate it!! Back to watching the video .... Take care!!
Thank you for this comment. Do you know what's crazy? I can't seem to choose CC for this one video. On all my other videos its automated but on this one it doesn't seem to recognise the words I'm saying haha.
@PaperbackJourneys .... thank you!! I appreciate your trying to correct. Something else I wanted to ask, did you hear about the anthology based on THE STAND? (IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT, what a name!) August 2025 is the release time, and Sir King does the opener. Of COURSE I HAD to order the special edition. Which will sit next to my special edition of THE STAND when it finally is released ....
Congrats on 10k! Love your channel! I wanted to share a little tactic about Spotify - if I want to listen to something that's up to 30 hours, I put a reminder in my calendar five days before my hours reset to start that long book, that way, I can listen to the 15 hours, then let it topup again and finish the book shortly after. :D I have finished a couple of super long non fiction and fantasy book this way. As for Stephen King - WHY WOULD HE SPOIL THE BOOK LIKE THAT????? Crazy.
Thank god for karma, Jay. :) (The Running Man is wild and I agree about it feeling like it's the least SK book that SK wrote haha... sorry u got spoiled)
Love the channel, been watching for a while. Would you consider putting time stamps in these videos? Would be easy to skip books I’m not as interested in to see the rest of the list.
Love your content! For the Q&A, I was wondering: What under rated modern author is your favorite? Or at least what modern author do you really enjoy and think deserves more attention?
Wait until you get to the Liveship Trader trilogy which is the next series in the reading order if you decide to keep going. I’ve been reading it for years because I’m intimidated and infatuated in equal measure. I want to finish it but I don’t want it to end and it’s been a long time since I’ve felt that for a book or series. No matter how much time passes I can pick up Liveship and be right back in the mix. I think part of my subconscious lives in the Realm of the Eldering perpetually.
Out of all the Bachman books I've read, there is only one that I actually rate at all is Thinner. On the other hand I pretty much love all the Stephen King books that I've read.
🎉10k, but your channel deserves a lot more
Congrats on 10k man, you're a big part of how i got into reading alot more

Nice to see you back with another great video, feels like an age since the last one. Thanks for the reviews as always 📖☕
Awesome on the 10k!! Congrats 🥳

Never mind you mentioned a read along 😅 at the end. My question for 10k vid, what are your top 3 TH-camrs (not necessarily booktubers)
I really loved The Lottery. It was my first Shirley Jackson book. I read it in 1985. Sword of Kaigen was on my radar maybe because you liked it so much I'll move it up on my TBR. Congrats on the 10k subscribers!

For the Q&A, have you always been into reading or did you start maybe later in life and grow to love reading?
10k is so well deserved. Congrats.

Someone going this long without knowing the ending to Fight Club is incredible, even if they didn't see it
I don't know the end of Fight Club but also I don't know if I'd like the book.
Congrats on the 10k man. You deserve it!
Thanks Michael! I appreciate it mate.

Thanks so much for the lovely comment. Yeah I do tend to get carried away when it comes to books 😂 . I hope you enjoy the books when they arrive.
Eyo! Congrats on 10 k subs man!
Happy to see the channel growing so much!
Nobody knew Bachman was king at this point, only when they went to make it into a movie, which is great!
Yeah I was reading all about that in the preface and was really interested but then... BOOM!
@@PaperbackJourneys this is one where I prefer the movie to the book. I’ll need to find your edition to read the preface

I'm so glad you're enjoying The First Law. It's great right? Thanks so much for your kind words mate.
@ I’m itching to start the next one! I’m gonna be patient though and get through the other books I’ve got, The Gunslinger is already underway!
Great video my man. Always a joy to see a new post from you.

Oh wow. You're the second person to say that so far. I wonder how mad I'm gonna be when I read Liveship Traders haha. Am I about to punch a book? 😂

Yes a Discord Channel!! Was about to ask when that will finally happen:)
Yeah we'll start it next year 😃. We can all have somewhere to hang out then.

@@KaylasBestie That's so cool! I hadn't heard of that before.
You deserve a lot more than 10k!
Thanks! I'm just happy to have you guys around.

Your review of Stephen King’s book made me lol. Great video!
Haha. Thanks so much. I'm glad you liked it.
Love the channel, been watching for a while. Would you consider putting time stamps in these videos?
Would be easy to skip books I’m not as interested in to see the rest of the list.
Congrats on 10K! subscribers! Love your content as your tastes are very similar to mine! Been reading along with your Dark Tower videos
Oh amazing! I'm so glad that you like the videos and I hope you're enjoying The Dark Tower.
Congratulations on 10k!
Thanks so much Beck!
Love your content! For the Q&A, I was wondering: What under rated modern author is your favorite? Or at least what modern author do you really enjoy and think deserves more attention?
I don't read King, tried him a few times not for me... but I liked the Running Man movie.
Loved Sword of Kaigan.

Yeah, I don't blame you. Whenever I read Robin Hobb, it feels like I'm inhabiting a different space.
What made you move to Georgia? Go dawgs!
My wife! She's an American and she got a great opportunity in Georgia so we moved over here. She's from Pennsylvania originally.
Out of all the Bachman books I've read, there is only one that I actually rate at all is Thinner. On the other hand I pretty much love all the Stephen King books that I've read.
What made you start a booktube channel?
Oh sorry are these questions that you'd like me to answer in the Q&A video? I just realised lol.
Haha yes that was what they were for!
Nope,not a cult 😂.Congrats!
😉 😉
If it's not too personal, does your scar have a cool story?
The book community is not a cult? I've misunderstood then.😊
Oh yeah totally we're not a cult. We're just very committed... VERY committed 😈 😜.
I did not enjoy The Running Man. At all. 😬
