Motorcyclist and Sedan Driver Both Killed in Highspeed Crash

AREA/CITY: Fontana
DETAILS:
On June 26th, 2024, at about 10:54 PM, County Fire and AMR responded to a reported traffic collision with extrication at Sierra Ave and Valley Blvd in the City of Fontana.
County Fire arrived and located a motorcycle and sedan with major damage.
The driver of the sedan was trapped inside the vehicle.
Both the Motorcyclist and the driver of the sedan were pronounced deceased at the scene.
All Northbound traffic on Sierra Ave and East and Westbound lanes are closed on Valley Blvd.
It is believed that speed was a major factor in this collision as parts of the motorcycle were scattered across the roadway, and the sedan came to a stop on the curb by an Arco.
Fontana PD’s “MAIT” (Major Accident Investigation Team) is at the scene investigating this double fatal crash.
No further information was provided at the scene.

According to police reports, an officer tried to follow a speeding motorcycle but was unable to keep up and called for aerial surveillance. The motorcycle was then involved in this collision.
When I was a tow truck driver I did motorcylce fatals. I noticed 7 out of 10 times when its a crotch rocket the driver is at fault. When it's a Harley, the other driver is at fault.
That made absolutely no sense what so ever.

@@cybasmuggla3697 No, they're correct. The "driver" is the operator of the motorcycle and a "rider" is any passenger. I did a couple statistics projects for police departments and I was surprised to see that in the 30+ states I reviewed (2000 to 2010, I believe), the motorcycle driver was at fault more than half the time (as high as 70% in some states) and a high percentage of motorcycle accidents (fatal) were single vehicle. I don't remember doing any correlations on make, but his observations do seem to match because I recall that speeds were higher and age (experience) was lower in sport bikes and vice versa on "other" makes. There is a LOT of bad data on the internet that is gathered at an aggregate level, so pulling all the raw data from police reports was exhaustive.

Someone travelling too fast, someone not yielding right of way, someone not watching the road. One or both of the persons now deceased. Tragedy that should not have happened. Two people are dead because mistakes were made. Very sad.

I ride a motorcycle and it scares the hell out of me when I see people speeding in front of me. Just be careful when riding.

The officer was putting out yellow tape, then later in the video it shows red tape. What’s up with that?

I think red tape is to make sure no one working inside the yellow tape steps on evidence that might be needed.
In my area we sometimes used red tape to mark hazards like body fluids or spilt fuel or slippery surfaces, so we knew to avoid stepping in anything and walking it all over the scene... The path for people to access the scene is ussually recorded so that they avoid areas like where tyres rubbed or gouged the road, where fibers from clothes, hair, skin, etc were left on the road if someone slid along the road (major gravel rash) so the scene of crime forensics team can match up injuries to locations.
There are more procedures if someone has died.
In this case both died and the police need everything they can find to help work out what happened and why.
Someone has commented the rider was being chased at high speed by police and the driver "got in the road" because the rider was being reckless.
They will have to sort it out and go to coroner's court I'd say.
It amazes me how many times I see this stuff on this channel every day on youtube. There must be a lot of stupid people in Southern California here. No wonder why insurance rates are so high. From my personal experience it amazes me how many people approach a four-way stop and none of them know who has the right of the way. Especially in the city of Garden Grove. The city with the worst drivers in my opinion.
So sad and likely so avoidable. When my 17 year old son tries to assure me that he's a great driver, I remind him that I know he is because I taught him how. He would never get behind the wheel if I doubted his ability. It's the other people's stupid decisions I worry about.

no one can make any assumptions here but a "human" mistake was made, either by the sedan driver or the motorcyclist...We all make mistakes but this one has caused the needless death of two people...RIP. According to the police, the motorcyclist was going so fast, they didn't even bother trying to pursue him, and called for air support instead. The sedan was making a turn in an intersection and was broadsided by the cyclist.

I have three son’s they all are grown, But my boy Baby the biker has been in two Club that I know of, the Ones that he’s with now I truly believe Is A family. Maybe the rider wasn't worried about safety, wanted to look cool, and only had the helmet for show. My vote would be it wasn't being worn. If it had been on there would be damage to it, possibly hairs, fibbers, skin and blood as well as damage to the actual helmet like scrapes, dents, chin strap ripped from one side of the helmet, etc.
Think about when the rider T-boned the door where would the helmet be in relation to the roof of the car and frame of car door.
I'd be looking carefully at door frame and outside and inside the roof of the car for impact area.
Or if the bike played down and slid then riders head would be very low, almost low enough to fit under the car.
Can't tell if the rider hit the door (it's missing) and landed on the car drivers lap or if the bike slid into and partly under the driver's door.

Well I'm no expert but I'll take a crack at it. Driver turned right in front of the bike who was travelling at an insane amount of speed. Motorcycle collided with the drivers side door, killing the driver and motorcyclist instantly. You can see the damage to the frame of the car where he likely hit. Helmet would likely not have saved him, it looks like poor quality based on the lack of bolstering and the fact that the D-ring detached from the other side. Could also be such a violent impact (riders head off the vehicle) that his head broke the straps which is insane. RIP to both invovled, that's a shitty outcome.
Helmet has only DOT sticker and missing Snell sticker indicating it's cheap crap. Never buy cheap helmet or gear, not worth it. Better to ride cheap bike wearing quality gear than other way around.

Accident like this I'm just glad the helmet was empty. Many years ago my friend was helping at her first accident scene (emergency services) and made the mistake of trying to pick up the helmet she saw in a field because the cows were nosing around it.. Turned out the poor rider had lost his head, helmet and all, after hitting a barbed wire fence at very high speed. The cops were about to search for it when she found it.
No. The Biker was going at a fast speed, a cop tried to tail him without his lights or sirens and that maybe triggered the biker to go even faster, took the Red light and collided with the Nissan that was going to turn left... the bike lit up on fire and the police that was tailing him quickly pulled up to extinguish the flames off him and the bike... it was such a fucking chaotic moment to witness..

Always some ignorant wannabe comedian poking fun at the "rookie" who is just doing what they are told/trained to do... First rule of this type of collision is preserve the scene so nothing goes missing or is tampered with.
SOP (Standard operating procedure) at a scene where someone has been hurt bad, enough to threaten their life, or in this case 2 people killed, is to mark out the area where evidence is and then record it, photograph it and then remove bodies/collect evidence. They do more than just put up tape.
As to selfies, they are more likely to be taken by witnesses or people who don't actually have a job to do at the scene... The same people who don't know the difference between they're (they are) and their (possessive use) and there (locational).

If that was your mate, friend, brother or dad under that tarp, laying there dead you would want to know what happened and why this accident happened. Maybe you would want to know who to blame for it. The only way to get closer to the truth is to make sure the evidence is recorded and analysed. The tape marks out the area they want to record and gather evidence from.
You might not want some guy you don't know anywhere near the body of the person you care about, close enough to steal that helmet or the wallet out of their pocket or anything valuable that could be saved. Some people would want to get the tarp off and take photos of the damaged body to sell online or make money off...if that was your loved one or someone you knew would you want their damaged image to be on the internet or the local news?
The tape that is up is needed. Have you ever heard the distress of a parent who turns up to an accident scene and has to be taken aside and told their child is dead, can't be helped, etc? Have you ever had to hold a mum back from a scene so she won't have nightmares of just how bad "her baby" looked?
If you can help it don't ever be inside the tape, seeing the reality of people who made stupid/silly mistakes and lost their life as a result.

I always have stickers on my helmets warning not to take my helmet off unless medical personnel.
It could be someone killed him by accident when they took his helmet off.
I'd guess the rider wanted to look cool rather than be safe.
I think it would be damaged, roughed up and have fiber, hair, skin or blood on it as well as scrapes and dents if it was on at the time of the crash.
It would depend on where the riders head was.. I mean was he upright, head at level of the roof of car? or was he crouched down to be aerodynamic and get faster speed,? Or did he see the car and try to avoid it by turning? Or was the bike down on its side sliding along into the car? Or..?
It's hard to tell because the door of the car is removed to access and assess the driver of the car. The rider could have been on the drivers lap, thrown over the roof of the car, under the car, etc.
Witness said they were racing to the McDonald’s to get the meal deal. I guess that didn’t work out.. also still looking for the motorcycle rider’s head.. that sounds laughable 😮
