Guys, I made an error in this video. When you get to "u", you'll see I wrote the translation of uniek as "union". That is wrong! The English word for "uniek" is "unique".

Brazil and Portugal (as also the nearby Mozambique) has Portuguese as official language. But in Brazil the language we speak is being in process of criolization in speech. Maybe in 500 years my first language will be called `Amerikaans´ or something like that. For exemple, we almost don´t conjugate verbs. But the written language is quite similar to European Portuguese.

The distinction between long and short vowels is complicated for me, as a Portuguese language speaker, despite Latin having long and short vowels. For example, "bitch" and "beach" sound the same for me in English...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi. Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it. In Afrikaans we have a very hard "H". H at the beginning of words are never silent.

Don´t be sad about vowels in Afrikaans. Mastering vowels pronunciation in Portuguese is a complete nightmare. Unlike Spanish, we have also nasal vowels. There is a joke about this: speaking Portuguese is like a drunk frenchman who tries to speak Spanish...
