    High budget clients value you more and want you to take control 👏 Why work for less when your quality of life will be worse on top of it all! Great vid as always Chris.

    Your story of your low-pricing clients below $500 sounds a lot like a couple of the clients I had last year. The clients I had, did not know what they really wanted until they saw the photos and asked for changes at no cost, although I asked for more money to reshoot. I try to avoid these clients, and one time I broke the contract as the reshoot would take too long and definitely not worth it. Most of my clients don't have these issues. Although, I do need to raise my rates more, and have begun to do so. I watermark images with logos over them as proofs, and release them with payment received so chasing invoices is not usually a problem for first time clients. Bigger clients are usually less hassle.

    Great video! Do you suggest targeting the higher budget clients right out of the gate for someone just starting out and only take the lower budget ones if you are starting to get desperate financially? How do you conquer the fear of charging more if you're just starting?

    • @ChrisPieta
      @ChrisPieta  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's tough in the beginnings and you will most likely need to deal with these higher budget clients. There's no good way of getting over the fear other than progressively charging more and more and getting comfortable that you deliver that value. The first few clients are rough but it gets better fast!

    I actually sell the products I’m taking pictures of and the same thing goes.
    Cheap customers are normally horrible to deal with

    You're funny, I don't even personally know anyone that has a lot of money. So how am I supposed to just find these wealthy clients that love my work?!

  • @focusingforward

    Just got a client that I super undershot on pricing and then they proceed to tell me they don’t know what they want which could mean a lot of different things… Crossing my fingers they don’t end up being a pain 🤞🏼

    • @ChrisPieta
      @ChrisPieta  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hopefully they're one of the good ones. Show them plenty of examples of the direction you're planning on going so you're both on the same page from the start

    Chris, do you ever take $ upfront? For example, if a client wants specific prop items

    • @ChrisPieta
      @ChrisPieta  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Always a 50% deposit. Props are usually included in my fee unless they're $100+

    If a client has approved the proofs, why not require payment before handing over photos?
    That’s pretty standard practice in the photography industry no?
    I’ve done many wedding and portraits etc, but looking to make a shift.
    I’m genuinely curious if product photography is different in the billing aspect. Thanks. :)

    Do you offer a free reshoot or no charge if they are not happy with the photos? Also do you have a template that you have for the proposal

    • @ChrisPieta
      @ChrisPieta  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Free reshoot or refund if they're not happy. All the systems we put in place prioir to the shoot helps prevent that from happening 99% of the time.
