After the stampede during Mahakumbh families are desperately searching for missing loved ones, moving from mortuary to mortuary for answers. Among them is Sanita’s sister-in-law, part of a 15-member group of devotees. Survivors recall the chaos, pleading for help as people fell. Having traveled hundreds of kilometers to Prayagraj for a pilgrimage, many now face heartbreak. Some, like a woman without a mobile phone and a broken foot, remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the tragic stampede. Harshit Sharma brings you this Ground report.
