🎵 César Franck - Prière (from 'Six Pièces') // Richard McVeigh

Throughout 2022, I have had the immense privilege of recording 10 amazing organists record the complete major organ works of César Franck.
This recording of the Prière is the final piece to be fit into this jigsaw, and is a taster of the complete Organ Album which will feature the 'Six Pièces pour Grand Orgue', 'Trois Pièces' and the peerless 'Trois Chorals'.
I learned the Prière especially for this project and can now say that it is probably my favourite piece by César Franck!
I am very grateful to Lyrebird Music for sponsoring this project and for donating a complete set of Franck's Organ Music. It's a fantastic new edition by Richard Brasier and may be obtained from lyrebirdmusic.....
This was recorded on the BIS organ using the Surround version of Dudelange on Hauptwerk.

Perfect tempo Richard! Some organists play the Priere too fast. The slower the better - it allows the melody to sing. Such a wonderful piece of music, very unique for sure. Bravo.

Lord Richard, you are a born Franck interpreter. You have so spectacularly registered the Priere and let the music ebb and flow like a prayer proffered by a devout Christian. God bless you, Lord Richard, for providing a healing salve for us lowly mortals. I will also say that your interpretation, imho, exceeds that of Jeanne Demessieux who was my favorite interpreter of Franck when I was in my formative years.
