Ermor leaving his armies completely unscripted really triggers me.

Ermor would have already destroyed Yomi if he had been scripting properly. This war should have been a steamroll, instead Yomi is clawing it back.

Now That Vanheim is on the move, I guess he'd rather scripted his units to sack Yomi.

If Ermor had tried at all, I probably would have been holed up in my cap by this point, like I expected.

Remote search spells are more mage turn efficient than site searching. You move fewer times to search the same province count, which leaves turns for something else (research, forging, fighting). The downside is the gem/pearl cost, which is non-trivial. I tend to manually search anything where I have mages with decent paths early, because in many cases the spells aren't available yet. But when you are breaking into a path where you don't have many mages these spells are excellent because you search a site for it every turn per mage rather than every other turn.
It does depend on magic school though. Several of the remote site spells are in conjuration rather than thaumaturgy for example. A water nation going for water elementals anyway is going to have both voice of apsu and voice of tiamat at the same time (as well as dark knowledge for death), so gunning to immediately remote search might make sense for them.
Arcane probing is evocation 3, which may or may not make sense for an astral nation early on.

Naiads, foul vapors, to some extent bone melter mostly when it comes to reasons to want to get a hold of it.

And it's reasonably good for site searching. More variety in magic paths helps pick up some of the lower level sites and is quite efficient in mage turns. At least for the early game.

Ermor might aswell have undisciplined units the way they are scripting, Kinda sad to see honestly. I don't see them maintaining their spot on top for much longer.

Yeah, I expect it early in the game but at this stage they should really be bringing their A game if they want to stay on top.
Ermor is big and threatening with it's fairly large armies and good income but it's a paper tiger with it's scripting so far.
That said, this is a newbie game so i'm willing to forgive some of these issues. Dominions is not an easy game to learn.
And while Ermor also has strong communions I doubt we'll see them, they're not exactly easy to understand for a newbie still learning the game so I think ermor is in a really rough spot.
And on top of all of that their diplomacy is very lacklustre. That huge income and some variety in gems would be perfect for throwing little gem baskets to players to ensure non aggression pacts are honoured. And even just using their words like the wordsmith Yomi would go some way toward reducing their threatening appearance.
Being the quiet loner in this game can work but you can't be completely silent, it comes across as someone trying to scheme their way to the top and avoid attention.
And sure that's another subtle thing about this kind of multiplayer but they've got hints from Yomi about how to do it well but they don't seem to have taken that on board.
I fully expect Ermor to be sliced and diced up 4 ways in the next 10 turns or so. When you're that big you have to either already be in a war with support from another player or planning a throne rush.
And their war with Yomi isn't going as well as it could. It's an unfortunate situation. Their early expansion was comparitively easy, hell they didn't even need to script their forces. But they've got so big it's hard not to notice them.
Even oceania is ringing alarm bells about them. which is hilarious. Them and their 4 armed 4 weaponised giant kraken.
Would love to see that thing roll up on land and start slashing through ermor.
