What a fantastic day for you Steve , such good weather and a fab display by CYMRU of some of there fleet , that University bus was something , as you said very space age , even a pilot instead of bus driver !!! mind on a uni bus think he needed a door between him and the passengers ..great display also of the classic cars and the scooters , just see Mike the Mod !! on one of those , great job they have done on 1203 , and well the professional driving of the AEC Regent 639..bet you really enjoyed that ...Congrats all round on a truly memorable 100th Celebration
Thank you so much Dave...your comments are always invaluable to me. I filmed the scooters just for Mike...should make him smile. The Uni Bus was pretty amazing...keep the students in their own sector...lol... It was one awesome day for me....loved every minute of it....it was over to soon.......and yes, 1203 was the *star* of the day....looks just superb now....soon be out with the other buses. Cheers....
I use to work with South Wales transport in Swansea Ravenhill Bus Depot doing the timetables and I use to work and help with the best buses in the Swansea bus museum I had to give up the work in the museum do to my back
That's quite the interesting array of buses they have displayed, from modern to classics. My dad would love to visit this museum, he's a bus driver here in Canada.
Gosh it really makes you realise that we are all getting older seeing the shapes of the modern buses! I do like them though! So different to only a few years back! There are some magnificent styles there! Nice to see the classic cars there too, vehicles seen and appreciated as I grew up and the scooters too! And you got to drive a lovely sounding AEC Regent bus again too! Excellent! Well done Steve! I bet you had a fine time!
Thanks Mike....yes it was a brilliant day..The First vehicles were quite amazing.....i just had to film your scooters too !! What has happened to your name? This looks like a completely new channel.... let me know what's occurring..lol
Absolutely superb Steve, you were obviously in your element there....brilliant camera work in stunning conditions, and you've produced an amazing record of the day...Perfect in every way...Best wishes...Bob
I certainly was Bob...it was the first time i haven't been concerned about how this all panned out. Strangely enough less pressure than with some Steam videos ! It really was a wonderful Day.....one i will remember for a long time to come ! I didn't want the day to end....says it all really...lol. Thank you so much for your invaluable support with what i film...it's much appreciated...best wishes to you all in Burry Port.
Another classic, Steve! It gave me a good chance to see parts of the event I missed as it was such a manic day. I even make an appearance right at the end!
Glad you like it John.....you could never have had the time to see all the other exhibits as you were working so much. I deliberately put you in the last clip...just had too ! Best wishes.....catch you soon.
Such an interesting video Steve.. It really gave us an insight to the buses of yesteryear and some motor cars & bikes too. Would have been quite a journey you had driving these great vehicles. Some of your reply comments are a pleasure to read and there is a lot of info in it..Thoroughly enjoyed the video and many many thanks for sharing this with us..Blessings to you all !! Friend Menu :)
Thank you Menu for your extremely kind words....it was a special day for me, as it is my home City too. I normally film their running days twice a year, but this event was an extra bonus. Thank you once again for watching .....best wishes.
Great video some lovely old machines from buses to cars/scooters,some very nice new models too.Nice to get back behind the wheel again Steve.Hope Sharon gets better soon.Regards Chris.
Chris every time i get behind the wheel of an AEC Regent V....it's a dream come true....i spent my childhood up to the age of 12 in Swansea, and i always loved these buses and the sound they made. Never ever imagined i would ever get to drive one !!! So glad you found the video ok.....Sharon was home Monday, and is being monitored very closely by The Beacon Centre (Cancer unit) in Taunton. We take every day step by step....ups and downs......Thank you for the kind comments...S.
First Cymru formally South Wales Transport was the company that closed the Swansea and Mumbles Railway on the 5th January 1960 despite it making a profit. Then they wasted money on the bendy buses which were withdrawn from service as the cost to referbish them would cost to much. A new light rail/tram system would have been better instead.
Pity First Cymru didn't tell people that when they were S.W.T.,they got rid of the street trams of Swansea in 1935,then closed the Swansea and Mumbles Railway on the 5th January 1960,despite a petition signed by people to save it. Their excuse was that it was not making a profit, but this was a complete lie,the reason they closed it,it would be competiting with their bus service.
+Eirug Sion Griffiths I agree with you totally....The biggest disgrace to happen to Swansea ever......What a superb Tourist attraction that would be theses Days.....56 wasted Years......I remember going on the Mumbles Train as a child...oopppss showing my age here......!! Thanks for the Comment....Steve.-:)

Just think what a Money spinner the Mumbles Train would be now in 2017....Would give Blackpool a run for it's Money !!!
