a lovely celebration of the beauty of Swansea Bay and Mumbles, Bob. It was very nostalgic for me growing up there and seeing the changes, fortunately not too many. Steve and you make a great partnership ! Best wishes , Geoff.
A ride on a museum piece, how cool is that. Thanks for sharing. The scenery in Wales was interesting, but driving on the wrong side of the road was unnerving. Poor driver had to shift with the wrong hand.
+ncplantdoctor I never thought about that, as it's the norm here to drive on the left....Thanks for your comments...Bob....There's more to watch on the link above if you're interested!
+EMuksteam Thanks both, it was lovely to see you both as well as Em and Sam..the weather couldn't have been better for the run. Tommi had a great time, especially when I bought him that ice cream!.....Bob
Another great day out on the buses Bob. Great driving by Steve and some great camera work by you Bob. I hope you are recovering well from your accident. Regards, Jeff.
+bobnweaver It was a great day, and more so with meeting up with Steve....having to use crutches, didn't make things easy, but we got through it. Got the go ahead to start driving this week Jeff, but still using the crutches at times.....Best wishes...Bob
+acw71000 Thanks Austin, the Best part of the run I captured for Steve on his camera ( another X920) and that should be up soon, it's the section from where mine finishes all the way through Mumbles to Limeslade and back....Autumn Colours and sunshine...a beautiful stretch...Bob
Great footage Bob...well filmed from that first Seat....Thanks so much for coming over and Filming this trip for Me...i really appreciated it. Hopefully mine (with your help filming) will be up in a Day or so..lol....Best wishes....S.~
+Steve Lewis Video Channel. Thanks Steve, it was a memorable day, and the run to Limeslade was the icing on the cake. I will put a link to yours on here when it's uploaded,,,Best wishes...Bob
+Larry R Wendell Jr It must look very strange to your eyes Larry, Swansea is the second largest City in Wales, and is still a small place....Many, many thanks...Bob
Robert Masterman It reminds me of many towns along the highways in New Jersey and in New England, that I remember as young adult, :o) Your quite welcome, Bob
Well Bob you got lucky and got a ringside seat way to go and a great video I must say. I loved watching this man work the gears because that is what I did many years ago as a tractor trailer or you call them articulates operator. It looked like a 5 or 6 speed transmission.
+canvids1 It was special being driven by a friend Wayne, I was fascinated that Steve went into second first then changing to First Gear as it an easier operation...Not sure about how many gears this particular bus has....Thanks as always...Bob
I felt like I was there with you, wonderful to see. It's Ironic that the Driver is Steve Lewis, as I was thinking of the character "Inspector Blake" played by "Stephen Lewis" of "On The Buses". Good footage. Geoff
Wow Bob that was fantastic!! - I've not ridden on a bus like that or heard that kind of engine sound since I was a young lad, Im 54 now...lol Absolutely loved that ride, felt like I was back in time and being made to go with my mom to a local hairdressers back in the 1960's That big old bus is certainly a slower ride than its modern counterparts, but a damn sight more enjoyable. :-) Can we go further next time please..? :-) 5*****
+Bevoin1970 Hello Paul, it's quite something to be able to ride on an old bus like that, and one I've ridden on back in the 60's. I also videod the remainder, of the run down through Mumbles and on to Limeslade for Steve the Driver, and that will be linked onto this upload when he does it tomorrow......Best wishes from West Wales...Bob
Interesting little tour of the sights of Swansea. Smashing day you had for it. I bet Mr. Weedy the General Manager was a right tyrant in an endeavour to compensate for having a name like that. :D
+AndreiTupolev Thanks Andrei, trying to keep the camera from shaking too much was very challenging I must say, but the camera does a superb job. Like your comment about Mr Weedy....a familiar name, but I've never seen an image of him...Regards...Bob
Well, that resuscitated long lost memories: I rode on these buses (probably this one) to Llanelli from Pwll and back many times as a small boy. I even remember the Regent 3s these replaced.I note the use of first gear, though: is that really authentic? When I was taught (admittedly on a PD2) I was told first gear was for use only on steep hills or with an overload (or both), and even then you got out of it asap.
+Philbru Production Thank you Philippe, it's always a wonderful sight to see preserved vehicles, that bring back happy bygone memories of what they looked like and sounded like.....Diolch fel arfer...Bob
I was expecting Steve to get the starting handle out ?? ..not doing bad for a learner driver ..good day all round then Bob ..free ride I hope.. LOL ...Dave
+David Howarth I did suggest it Dave. but he refused :o)...It was only £3 to get in, and that included as many free bus rides as you wanted during the day...incredibly good value...Bob
