Congrats on summiting Humphreys! I first discovered your channel a couple years ago because of your highpointing, so I’m happy to see you continue that! I summited Humphreys in 2022 and loved it. The weather was perfect, but the mountain creates its own weather, and the summit proper was extremely cloudy and windy. It was an experience I’ll never forget. Seeing the Grand Canyon from Humphreys Peak was a bucket list item to me.
@@OneMansOdyssey Thanks man, I’m catching up on my video edits so I have 5 more state high points I’ve summited/filmed on the way to upload! I’m also planning a trip to South Dakota this next month to film a couple more, so the journey continues. Humphrey’s was a unique experience, I want to do it again but stay on the main trail next time lol.
You guys got really lucky with the weather. 12:45 is VERY late to be starting out. Those clouds were looking nasty all around. I'm glad it turned out ok. Congrats on Humphrey's. The view from the top is stellar. I stayed up there for almost 45 minutes, probably way too long. Looking forward to you conquering some more of the western high points. I'm at 26, unfortunately no new ones for me this year. Hopefully next year
@@travelingRonman We were very lucky with the late start and ominous clouds near the top, had we seen any lightning we would have turned around immediately. I’m at 10 highpoints currently, editing the next 5 videos this month. Planning on hiking South Dakota soon & hopefully Nevada, California, & Utah this next year for western states. I’d like to do a trip back to the Midwest in the near future to knock off Minnesota, Wisconsin, & Michigan. Safe climbing to you!
Hiked to the top with my 7 year old son and it was a challenge for him. We had to take it slow a lot of the way. But worth it to reach the top. Wind was crazy though at the peak.
@@GetmeouttahereErik Right! I am then going on the sunset horseback ride from the winery. It is just a quick little 3 day vacation for me. I hope it will be fun!
You should never go into a grove of trees, or be anywhere outdoors near tall objects in a lightning storm. Lie flat in an open are or go inside. You would’ve been better staying in the rock field and lie flat on the ground. When there is a chance of lightning strikes, you should be as flat as you can be moving from the Rockfield into the trees was no better than standing in the backyard. Next time lay flat in the rock field.

Wow he’s one tough kid, very windy summit but rewarding views at the top.
Cool channel! I am going to Verde Mesa river to do the wine kayak Cruz in Sept out of Cottonwood. I have feel in love with beautiful scenery.
You had me at wine kayak cruz - that sounds awesome!
