I love how the books are fading away throughout this scene. Like he's more focused on the conversation that he's losing all the details of the surrounding environment because they're less important.
Yeah, I was wondering why did they keep in a way , but I must admit set design matters and speaks a lot about the scene that is taking place. Loved the cinematography
when i finished this movie .... it was just silence ...i didn't know what to think ...this scene and that bye scene at the beach house ...just shattered me
Just really love this scene. The surroundings are whitening out showing that Joel is heavily focused on Clementine & that nothing else in this world matters except her. He knows he doesn’t want to forget her but sadly the procedure is erasing Clementine for good. He’s trapped in his own fear amongst his mind, watching everything slip away.
I was married, I was in love, then I was cheated on multiple times and kept trying to save my marriage over and over. I finally found the strength to love myself like in deserved and left my ex. I found love in an old friend, and it was like something I never experienced before. She eventually just changed on me, I don't know what happened to her but I hurt everyday and wish I could forget her. This movie has never been closer to my heart.

It is amazing how all Literature would be meaningless < comparable to that most wonderful emotional experience of all. What a Beautiful screenplay ,acting, and that 'Remember Me' just before the frontal lobe triggers/synapses were erased.

@@ZainsingsI feel like it’s underrated in the general culture. Being critically acclaimed doesn’t mean you’re well known. Most of my friends or situationships have never seen it so I don’t think it’s as popular in general
Kate Winslet's acting is so fine when she is natural like this. Same goes with her performances in Sense and Sensibility & Little Children. When she becomes self-conscious, it's a nightmare.
I remember watching this movie thinking, would I erase the memory of my own relationship that went bad and broke up. I thought no " for al the bad I wouldn't want to forget the feeling of how it was when it was new love."

I’ve never seen this movie. But I feel this scene so deeply. “Remeber me, try your best” is something my soul mate would say, if I still had her in my life.
I tried to forget Olivia but i know its impossible. It's like an endless rain that never goes to stop, dumping over me, this stupid foolishness of nostalghia sense.
siempre me he preguntado si Clementine recordo lo mismo cuando ella borro a Joel y a el diciéndole que le recordara por eso los dos tenian la necesidad de ir a Montauk
So idk if you were joking but if you think clementine was the problem, I think you missed the whole thing. We never even met clementine. We met Joel’s memory of her. She said in this scene, so clearly and honestly, ‘I cannot fix you’ and he didn’t believe her. ‘I still thought you were going to save my life, even after that’ is him apologizing for not listening to her, and building their whole relationship around her being the woman of his dreams. Women aren’t concepts and we can’t complete any man with missing pieces. That was his responsibility. He put too much pressure on her to be what he wanted and needed. He expected her to heal all his pain and cure his dissatisfaction with life. She was just looking for her own peace of mind and he did exactly what she warned him not to, and put all of his on her.
You know when you go back to places you remember significantly and you just relive that moment that it slaps you so fucking hard. It’s like that and there’s more until you are very old.
Idk, never really felt that way everyone says. The dialouge between them is incredibly natural, but never really emotional. Not the way like The Green Mile, EEAAO, Past Lives

I mean I doubt he’d have memorized every single book
It's symbolic of his memory's being erased, it's literally the entire premise of the movie
when he broke the conversation by saying “i remember that speech really well” just hits so much
She even said the same speech at the end of the film.

This film. It gets me. It enters me. It rips me apart. In good ways and I don’t know how else to describe it.
There's a cream for that.

The whole human race pegged your mom.

it's a dream. details are lost.
“I still thought you were gonna save my life”
😩so sweet & beautiful
What’s that mean
This is definitely Jim's best performance in his whole career since Truman show.
Agreed

One of the most underrated movies.
How is this underrated when it’s clearly topping the list of best movies ever in 2000s, nominated in Oscar and perform well in box office
Not underrated at all. Thank god! This movie is a true masterpiece. One of the greatest films ever made.

can you name some films where you felt she was self conscious? not antagonistic, i would genuinely like to know.
@@thegirlinquestion Titanic, The Reader (the courtroom scene ugh!), Carnage, Revolutionary Road, Wonder Wheel, and some.
This has been my favorite movie for so long and yet it makes me achingly depressed every time I even think about it
this is my favorite movie of all time especially with Kate winslet in it she is so beautiful and very talented
To me, Kate Winslet is heartbreakingly beautiful in this movie for some reason.

This movie is absolutely brilliant and should be preserved for all time. It's just so well-written and timeless. God bless you Charlie Kaufman. ❤

Such an underrated film. Maybe not underrated - but definitely not as well-known as it should be.
