I used to watch your MTG streams what feels like 5 years ago. I stepped away from card games for a while after having a couple kids. I watched a lot of the stream yesterday and enjoyed the tournament organization and your commentary. You seem happy and successful, and that’s awesome.
Wow, so cool to see my match being highlighted here 😅 It was an intense game. Thanks for the highlight and the great analysis! Also, huge thanks to the TO for putting together such an amazing event!
7:14 spargels commentary is always funny 😂😂😂 whereas yours is more knowledgeable about the game, exactly how casters are meant to compliment each other, great job🎉
Loved watching the tournament, from start to finish. Was really hoping the lone fighting deck left would win though. Looking forward to future tournaments!
Watched the whole stream, excellent work by both - can't wait to see the content of digesting all the statistics from it, y'all were awrsome and look forward to more
As someone who couldn’t make it to the stream I really appreciate highlight matches like this, thank you Jeff and sprawls and well played by both players
Gah I see many reasons why my Rampardos deck would be even more efficient and versatile than this one but I'm still missing a couple very key trainer cards and don't have enough pack points left 😩 I'll have to jump in on the next one and see how it performs. Thank you both so much for organizing this! I know a lot of the community wants ranked mode, but I quite like the idea of the community itself throwing tournaments like these. I think it's so fun to have unofficial showcases of what the general public are experimenting with, and having my favorite streamers commentate is always such a treat. Awesome matches!
such a fun game to watch live, and so so blisteringly close (third game rampados player had a 50/50 chance to pull rampardos and likely close out the game instantly and got aero) also, the Aerodactyl ability coming into play in multiple games was so crazy!! the lawwww
I'd love to see your take on a luxray deck. I brought a luxray/zebstrika/zapdos ex build to your tournament yesterday and saw some moderate success. What was cool to see though was that my losses felt like they could have been avoided if I had pokemon communication in my deck to draw luxray more consistently. Aside from a somewhat unlucky exeggutor/yanmega matchup with a lot of lost coin flips, every other match that i was able to draw luxray in time I won. It feels especially favoured into palkia variations (naturally), and the dialga and darkrai matchups definitely felt winnable in a more optimised luxray deck. All in all the tournament was a lot of fun as my first and I really enjoyed seeing my brew around one of my favourite pokemon win some games. Just a little bummed about torterra lol
he's pretty analytical guy so he prolly said "i calculated this outcome, but its safe to say im literally landing all these hoog that I've been planning since turn 1." 😭
This was definitely one of the highlight matches of the day for me! Really love this Rampardos build, but I also feel like Aero EX is in a bit of an awkward spot under the current meta and Marsh + helmet could be a better option.
I run Hitmonchan and Lucario with Rampardos, which provides a healthy number of pokemon to PokeComm with and allows you to actually search your bench for basics rather than sit on your hands waiting for a fossil (though running four fossils is pretty safe). The Hitmonchans average out to Farfetch'd-level pressure with Lucario buffs and have enough HP to survive early Darkrai/Fetch combos, while the Lucario buff also gives Rampardos breakpoint coverage for most of the meta. No need for Hitmonlee with 2 Cyrus (quicker / lower risk) and while I initially thought Marshadow was a must, the two energy cost seems to disrupt the flow and Rampardos can usually KO twice on it's own without much trouble in my experience. All that said, this is the first Rampardos deck I've seen in action and I really like how it performed and the level of thought that was put into it. Love to see the single Pokeball as I think people forget PokeComm can be use interchangeably in the right scenarios.
Imo I agree, Aerodactyl doesn't make much sense. 140 hp and an electric weakness means you die to Magnezone with chip from Darkrai or Druddigon, and that deck is way too common and strong to deal with that issue.
I got a deck idea. Remember that Exeggutor and Aerodactyle ex deck you made a video about? What if you used Yanmega ex with it? I think this is a good idea because it’s a dual-type deck and Yanmega ex can use any energy for its move.
If i were to participate in an event like this, where would i need to watch for communication? (IE: sharing) , Ive never played in an online tourney, or screen shared. Is there a certain program for screen sharing i would need?
Tournaments, including this one, are hosted on Limitless. This one we just hosted was promoted in a few videos here leading up to it as well as on my live streams / other social channels. play.limitlesstcg.com/tournaments?game=pocket
19:51 This is interesting I guess some card gamers have the opposite idea. I've always heard beatdown being used to refer to the deck that slowly builds up an unstoppable attack and has to be silenced quickly
"Who's the beatdown?" Is a seminal MTG strategy article, so "being the beatdown" has meant being the deck that strives to end the game quickly before they lose control for about 25 years
Aerodactyl had it's breakout weekend over a month ago and has had a pretty consistent presence since that. Here is the meta report where I first covered that: th-cam.com/video/RLLD9Z68KJI/w-d-xo.html
Hey Jeff, I have a suggestion for the next tournaments, I feel like to develop any scene you need to highlight the players themselves instead of just the decks they're playing. Not sure exactly how to bring about it, maybe interviews or montages or something but we need some person to root for behind it otherwise it wouldn't be much different than just you and spragels playing each other with different decks if you think about it. We need some stakes like "this is the best person of x area" and "this is the only person making Slowbro deck work" and stuff like other tournament communities have like even "this guy is fighting this guy who broke into his house, stole his girl, killed his puppy and clogged his toilet" although maybe not that level of WWE drama lol
I don't intend to run events often enough to really build story lines like that. In my experience most people watching card game events care more about the decks themselves rather than the players. Just looking for stuff to copy.
in the last game rampardos player would have won if they used cyrus to kill that 80hp melmetal... hitmonlee could revenge kill the 10hp dialga later... Thats so sad
I used to watch your MTG streams what feels like 5 years ago. I stepped away from card games for a while after having a couple kids. I watched a lot of the stream yesterday and enjoyed the tournament organization and your commentary. You seem happy and successful, and that’s awesome.
Welcome back! I'm pretty fortunate to be able to do what I do. Been a solid last few years for my job.
Wow, so cool to see my match being highlighted here 😅 It was an intense game. Thanks for the highlight and the great analysis! Also, huge thanks to the TO for putting together such an amazing event!
Yesterday’s tournament was a great stream. Loved the commentary
We know Jeff has changed the meta before, but it's awesome to see you run a huge tourney to help develop this early meta too! really enjoyed it
7:14 spargels commentary is always funny 😂😂😂 whereas yours is more knowledgeable about the game, exactly how casters are meant to compliment each other, great job🎉
This is such good commentary, hoping to see more highlight matches from the tournament posted
Loved watching the tournament, from start to finish. Was really hoping the lone fighting deck left would win though. Looking forward to future tournaments!
I love this kind of content. I really hope that you are able to host another tournament in the future!
STOP TRYING TO BREAK THE LAWWW!!!
My favorite line each time we see the enemy forget about Aerodactyls text 😂
So glad yall were able to host the tourney. Bunch of good times alongside great content!
This is event is a blast man. Enjoyed both of your commentaries. You should both continue this series.
Watched the whole stream, excellent work by both - can't wait to see the content of digesting all the statistics from it, y'all were awrsome and look forward to more

Surprising and cool to see Primeval Law be meaningful text
Now this is great content! High level commentary, high level gameplay and two charismatic hosts.
Loved spending the day watching the tournament yesterday in between my adult responsibilities keep it up Jeff
Damn Hoogland. Your demeanor and appearance have made complete upgrades. Happy 2025 mane.
Dropped 50 pounds last year
Great pick to showcase here! Would definitely love to see more tournaments in the future 👍
I bet it was extremely tiring to stream the entire tournament but I really enjoyed it. Would love to see another one in the future
Seriously great tournement! Cudos to you and everybody that made it happen!
I swear some of those one-liners had to be made in advance. Great casting by you and Spragels!
Dawn and Poke Communication are such game changers. In particular, they're making my Moltres/Charizard EX deck feel especially cracked.
Love Jeff almost saying "congratulations" at the end there, in his mind the winner of this game just won the tournament 😂
Gah I see many reasons why my Rampardos deck would be even more efficient and versatile than this one but I'm still missing a couple very key trainer cards and don't have enough pack points left 😩 I'll have to jump in on the next one and see how it performs. 7:01 “Flairing the Immersive” 🤯💸💸💸😂🤣🤣😂”They are the 1%”
I never laughed so hard at a TCG Pocket Video😂
I was about to say how good it would be for you to upload highlights!
cool to watch with the comentary. I suggest highlighting the KOs and points for those that are just listening.
Great match and great commentary!

I agree Jeff, Absolute Cinema!

When you do a good play, do you ever say "I'm straight up Hoogin' it right now"?
he's pretty analytical guy so he prolly said "i calculated this outcome, but its safe to say im literally landing all these hoog that I've been planning since turn 1." 😭

This giving me hope for fighting
Hey!! I watched that live! Great times.
What does someone need to take part in one of these tournaments?
I got a deck idea. Remember that Exeggutor and Aerodactyle ex deck you made a video about? What if you used Yanmega ex with it? I think this is a good idea because it’s a dual-type deck and Yanmega ex can use any energy for its move.
The tournament was awsome. Also are the decks posted anywhere?
On the limitless tcg page
These were some awesome games.
where can i get more of this?
Pls more of this. It's so hard to find material with no replays and It's hard to practice cause no ranked and average player playing scuffed decks.
Ranked really doesn't change the scuffed deck part in my experience.
Is there a deck list for the fighting type deck?
Shown at the start of the video yes.
broken Cyrus 😅
Huh, I just played a melmetal v rampardos match yesterday! (And lost pretty sure)
Rampardos’ attack is inSANE for 1 energy
If i were to participate in an event like this, where would i need to watch for communication? (IE: sharing) , Ive never played in an online tourney, or screen shared. Is there a certain program for screen sharing i would need?
The rules of the tournament will specify that

I have only heard it in clash Royale tbh, similar to what you said
Wtf i thought everyone said Aeredactyl EX was bad. I guess its good in this new meta? ( somehow with stage 1 pokemon being more relevant now )
Aerodactyl had it's breakout weekend over a month ago and has had a pretty consistent presence since that. Here is the meta report where I first covered that: th-cam.com/video/RLLD9Z68KJI/w-d-xo.html

@HooglandiaPocket yeah, I understand :/
can someone pls trade me a Melmetal ?
in the last game rampardos player would have won if they used cyrus to kill that 80hp melmetal... hitmonlee could revenge kill the 10hp dialga later... Thats so sad
I did not have rampardos until last turn, so I would have still lost to cyrus
@frod0b true... I saw the opponent using Cyrus after comenting hahaha
why am I seeing German cards? xDDD
