Rift of the NecroDancer Demo | SS Rank on All Songs Hard Difficulty

- Rift of the NecroDancer is a rhythm game by the makers of Crypt of the NecroDancer, set in the same universe as that game but set in a more modern setting and with gameplay more like a traditional rhythm game, but with its own NecroDancer twist. Rift recently got a timed demo release, and I'm absolutely loving it so far! So to show off this game a little bit, here's gameplay of me getting an SS Rank, the highest rank attainable, on every chart in the demo on Hard difficulty, the hardest difficulty available in the demo (although the full release is slated to have an even harder Expert difficulty).
(PS: This was originally supposed to be All Songs Full Combo, but I ended up settling for 1 miss on Ravevenge because I was happy with the accuracy. I do plan on going back to get the Full Combo, but likely off-camera.)

0:00 Disco Disaster (by Danny Baranowsky)
3:24 Amalgamaniac (by Alex Moukala)
7:18 Ravevenge (by Alex Moukala ft. Aram Zero)

Guilty gear has poisoned my mind to the point that hearing "lets rock" gives me a ptsd response.

Have you played Guitar Hero before?
That single miss must've been painful, despite vibe invincibility being on
Yeah I was originally going for all Full Combos, but I ended up taking the -1 because I was happy with the score even with a miss
@@UltraCboy, best to never give up, okay?
Just give it your all!
Music games that allow to get max rank, even when you don’t perfect a song>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"now we're talking"
I love the fact they kept the mechanic of different monsters behaving differently from CotN
It makes things more difficult, but also very satisfying once you pull it off
I really like how the "chart" transforms due to the monster behavior while you play. I really dig that
i havent payed much attention to the gameplay in the trailers so to actually see it now.. wowie its really REALLY impressive how many cool ideas for monster behaviours they came up with for this gameplay style! game looks great honestlly
Try the demo I beg you it's really fun
Yeah the game is designed in a way that’s super creative and unique but still fair, and we’ve probably only seen the half of it. Can’t wait until the full release.
Also please do play the demo if you haven’t already, it’s free on Steam until June 27th.
Yeah it has far more potential than I originally saw in it. I really enjoyed the demo.
true
Amalmaniac is such a bop!
They’re all certified hood classics
Danny B and Alex Moukala delivered wonderful bangs
You can bet someone is going to craete an intentionally confusing song/series of enemies.Like bats & shielded skeletons on the left, mixed with slimes in the middle and right.
amalgamaniac, not to be confused with amalgamania
Even just this demo is such a blast, so excited for the full game! Though... Ravevenge on hard was a very humbling experience on just how bad I am at registering multiple different little things at the same time lol.
really really excited to chart in the full game
Ravevenge is my favorite aong out of the entire demo even though its insanely hard
This Octavian (in disco disaster seems more like a chill mentor than the greedy immortal guy in crypt
🔥 You nailed it mate
dude i never heard of this before. this is so cool!
People are insane. The demo's been out for not even a week and there's already full SS clears
sure it's just 3 songs but holy SHIT
Actually if you play music games a lot (I play DDR, ITG, SMX, IIDX and PnM), then you can quickly learn how to "read" those charts. Ravevenge got a little bit messy, but I figured out the sight reading easily while watching it once.
@@ArekuMizuhara I know, I *play* those kinds of games!
It's still just very hard
Yaknow... looking at the intensity bar for ravevenge... Looks like it can go even higher. Since there is still space on that bar. Which'll be interesting to see.
In the demo, there's another difficulty shown, expert. It's not available, but it will be in the full game.
i really hope this game comes out for other platforms
Well done! Started playing ytd and got my 1st SS Rank on Hard Mode
Edit: Just to remind that you missed 1 combo on Amalmaniac
oh i want to play this on a dance pad so bad
The way enemies move down the screen kinda messes with my eyes.
awesome job on these dude! high level gameplay makes me excited to dig into this game when it comes out! do you have any tips for dealing with shielded and non-shieldes enemies on the same row? my hand is extremely unaccustomed to pressing only one of those keys twice rhythmically lol.
Idk what advice to give other than just practice. The more you do that motion, the more comfortable it’ll get. Also make sure your hands are in a comfortable position when you play.
I had to disable animations, too distracting
WOW. How long did it take you? I barely managed to get S on hard on all songs after 5h. And SS on ravevenge hard after additional 5. The ending of this song is brutal.
Not that long? About 4 hours for the lot. And yeah Ravevenge Hard is brutal, but super satisfying if you can pull it off.
@@UltraCboy For sure it's satysfying, sadly I combo-broke on last red bat + shielded skelly in the finale
“The demo is free on Steam” =D
“Until June 27th.”
*Me learning about this the 28th:* D=
It do be like that sometimes, there are plans for more demos later down the road tho so keep an eye out for those
I don't think I've ever seen a rhythm game of this kind that makes "notes" move in discreet intervals
The enemy variety is pretty cool and sometimes gives me rhythm heaven vibes
Not a fan of the lava bits as it made the patterns pretty unintuitive
Crypt's and now this game's soundtracks are possibly the best that ever existed in gaming tbh
On second thought, maybe RotND isn't a good introduction to rhythm games
I can barely do normal modes, and that excludes Ravevenge
I just keep messing inputs
Also, shielded sceletons are kinda bs, their timings are so confusing
Yeah as much as I love Rift so far, you kind of need prior experience in other rhythm games to be able to enjoy it bc so much of the challenge is put on reading.
I can enjoy it fine bc I’ve been playing Stepmania-style games for several years now but I understand my experience isn’t common, let alone universal.
@@UltraCboy dunno about that, though, I myself don't play too much rhythm games, Hi-Fi Rush is probably the most exposure I've had to rhythm games and I only played like the 13 hours you need to complete the game, and even then I am having a blast with Rift, albeit, I am nowhere close to getting an S rank (haven't even been able to finish the third song in the hardest difficulty) but is not like I can't make heads from tails in the game, heck, I'd say half of the fun is trying to figure what the right "feel" for the sequence is.
@@ajch22 Glad to hear you're enjoying it! I would definitely like to be proven wrong in this regard
It's worth noting that the songs in this demo have difficulty scores of 4/10, 6/10 and 8/10, so the full game might still have a smother learning curve than the one we have here.
Small update: it would appear that the reason I was so bad at the game was because of poor calibration. I still feel like something's off, but at least I managed to do Amalgamaniac on hard and Ravevenge on medium, albeit not perfectly
Now, only S-ranking and Ravevenge hard remain
How do you perfect somewhat consistently? On the shields I swear I cant lol
Lots of accuracy training & having good video/audio calibration. Accuracy is a vital skill in just about any rhythm game, so if you can train it in one game it'll help you out in most others.
This game has SS Rank? I got a Full Combo on Hard Ravevenge and only got S rank...
Did you forget to use your Vibe Gauge? On some charts it’s impossible to get an SS rank without using the Vibe Gauge in some capacity, even with a perfect score otherwise.
So instead of dungeon diving in rhythm, you're playing guitar hero.
Kinda yeah
But it'll later have aspects of rhythm heaven fever
Noice but now do it to Megalovania
I’m sure people will be making custom charts with the full release
I'm honestly excited to see what people end up doing with songs from more traditional rhythm games. Imagine the madness BBKKBKK or Blackmagik Blazing would be in a game like this.
@@UltraCboy I mean, there's *already* a "custom charts" option (though greyed out) in the DEMO
They're 1000% including custom chart support.
