So actually Nasdaq are using AWS EC2 dedicated bare metal instances within the Nasdaq network as you would have used Dell/HPE/COTS servers before that, i.e. Nasdaq switched hardware supplier from Dell/HPE/COTS to AWS (with a little less control since they are managed from the AWS EC2 control plane instead of a local control plane). The AWS Direct Connect was available without AWS Outposts as well and would allow connecting to the Nasdaq datacenter from AWS.
