Fun fact: Jon’s lyrics in the ending tracks for this album, Acceptance Speech and Instant Gratification all reference the state of the band. This song they thought they were done permanently. In Turn off the Lights pt2 he says to disregard his lyrics from Purple Reign and in Lost he talks about how the band has grown from decay
If you want more Jonny after this album, he did 2 albums with Emarosa. Relativity and their self-titled album. Relativity, from front to back, is absolutely incredible. It starts with The Past Should Stay Dead which is a post-hardcore classic
This whole song is super self aware and it’s easy to miss if you don’t know the lyrics and state of the band. The chorus “don’t bother well I’m a danger to your health” is Johnny basically admitting he knows he’s toxic and can’t stay clean and focused. Then the ending of the song Jon is screaming “well I have got a sense that this is overdone, well at least I’m having fun!” Basically saying they think the band isn’t going to survive after this album because they didn’t want to get a third singer and they knew Johnny couldn’t stay. Which is hilarious because they knew before they even finished the album that they couldn’t keep Johnny Craig around but also really darkens the mood to this song when you realize this is sorta a good bye
You should start with People you knew from the hot topic exclusives and end on Perfect since I feel like Perfect flows better as in end song to the old dgd era
A fun fact: this album was heavily inspired by the tempo and speed of the Mars Volta Band, (The Bedlam in Goalith). The album never lets up, I feel like also DBM2 is one of their most hyper albums.
Perfect is probably a better closing track than People you knew only because it's an acoustic with only clean vocals. While people you know has only uncleans
Dude that riff that blew your mind, I absolutely love that part and I can't help but dance every time! This song is such a jam man! So the bonus tracks were basically if you bought it at Hot Topic, it was a popular tactic for a while where different stores had different exclusive tracks. So you could totally think of them as like deluxe edition type things. Anyway good shit as always my dude, glad to see even some of their weirder stuff works for ya and super stoked to see you hit the Tilian era, my personal favorite. I believe that Wake has finally been cleared, I see reactions posted nowadays so I think you'll be okay when you get there. Also, there is an extra song after Mothership called Summertime Gladness and two extras after Artificial Selection, Head Hunter and Blood Wolf. Just to keep in mind if you're hitting everything, all three are bangers!
Chrrrriiiisss! 2 DGD reactions in a week?!?! Loooove it! If you are checking out Secret Band here and there please don't sleep on the Secret Band ep! Stuck and Glued has that vibe (for me) that you were talking about on the Elder Goose reaction. Breakfast Time is just perfect :)
Yes, the two tracks were just bonus tracks on the album, but just on the albums sold at hot topic. I see a lot of artists do this with target. But they weren’t on spotify until recently so they are some good “deep cuts” for this weird era and the band. You’ll enjoy them.
Dude! I agree with everyone here you need to check out Emarosa! The Past Should Stay Dead. I say start with People You Knew and then Perfect for the Hot Topic exclusives. And I say you should knock them both out of the way in a double feature reaction!
Love the sweater man, the north remembers indeed! Its kind of a deluxe edition, just more exclusive/harder to find/purchase. I have DGDs discography on my phone and was unable to find a version of dbm2 with the two bonus songs on it. Oh well, theyre good but far from my favorites on this album. People You Knew is first followed by Perfect. Theyre two quick ones, and then its time for Tilian and Acceptance Speech 2.0!
Amazing. Completely blown away.
10 years later and the outro still gives me so many goosebumps. So happy someone finally reacted to this

Hopefully Chris sees this!

TAILORED SHEEETTTSS
Yeah, Chris, you have to react to Emarosa's two Jonny albums!
Relativity is still the best post hardcore album to ever drop

The one scream he does in the end, I think he’s saying “am I right?!” Man sooo chilling and dope EVER. TYM.
Purple Reign💜 The second half with Jon....i absolutely love that part..its so good. Glad you liked it!
The outro, i meant lol
This is one of those songs that the more you listen to, the better it gets! I wasn’t a fan the first couple of listens, but I ended up loving it

I highly recommend reacting to "people you knew" first, leaving "perfect" for last - i think its a much better way to end the album.
Would you say it's a perfect way to end the album?
A fun fact: this album was heavily inspired by the tempo and speed of the Mars Volta Band, (The Bedlam in Goalith). The album never lets up, I feel like also DBM2 is one of their most hyper albums.
Another Stark fan! Respect, my guy
Finally 😆💪🔥🔥

You’d really like relativity album with emarosa. Check it out ! By the way love all the reactions man.

Stuck & Glued is amazing. Can't ever play it just once, once it's on for me it gets played atleast 5 consecutive times
You should totally listen to Emarosa for more Jonny! The Past Should Stay Dead is a great song to start with, from their Relativity album.
I remember the first time I heard this song, I thought the exact same thing about the Arabian feel on that section. Love it so much.

Make Them Suffer - Neverbloom
You should do "Landyn 82" recommendation Scars By Josh A but after you should react to The Truth by Josh A.
Thank you
The truth is also amazing
