Great period in Sparks history. Change of image too. Great look. Still gets the hairs on my neck to stand up to this day. Only negative, the live versions at the shows never gdid the songs justice imo.
One of their best albums for sure. I was worried about Sparks "going disco" back in 1979 but I loved the album right away and it still had the Mael brothers personality. The followup Terminal Jive was the first Sparks album that was disappointing but I like it a lot more these days. "Stereo" and "When I'm With You" are my favorites on the album.
Unfortunately, I am unable to leave a link to "So I Married A Record Collectors'" SPARKSTEMBER videos! They must have been removed by TH-cam! Tisk tisk on TH-cam! Morris, can I ask why you have ranked bonus tracks on some albums but not some of the others that have them. In my opinion bonus tracks shouldn't count towards album rankings unless every album has bonus, which some of them don't. By the way, I agree that Beat the clock is the weakest song on the album, although my husband won't listen to My other voice, he says it's creepy.
I did look for some of the bonus tracks for those other albums and they didn't show up. Yeah, I know, I shouldn't include the bonus tracks, but if they are on the album, which they are on, for example, 'Kimono' and 'Propaganda, I'm going to include them, because they feel like a part of the album!! Next year when I do this again, the scores could change.
@@morrisgautreau6704 It's just because I thought you missed the bonus tracks from Big Beat and there are six of them on the CD I have but I've just realised I have the 21st century edition so that's probably why.
I liked your interpretation of the songs refering to Noel.
Thank you. In my mind the story seemed to fit well.

Yup, my review of Terminal Jive will reflect that! No 1 is a masterpiece compared to what followed!

@@wee-weeble49 Cool, I'll have to get that edition when I order it. If I would have seen them I probably would have included them.
