I was solo when I visited London for the first time in 2019. It was also the first time I'd ever left the US. I was nervous, but it was the best decision I ever made. There's something really freeing about figuring out a foreign country on your own, and being able to do what you want, whenever you feel like it.

That’s basically the psychology behind boot camps and other rites of passage. Put someone in a situation where their regular attitudes and skills just will not cut it, and they’ll be forced to adapt. With a bit of support and guidance, they’ll adapt in a way that makes them more capable and confident.

JUST returned from London, like yesterday night, and totally recommend going to a show!! Went to see the phantom of the opera and I cried my eyes out, totally didn't feel alone as I was 100% focused on the show!
I was at Phantom recently…. Principally because the Phantom actor is on a short 7 week stint….I saw the same actor 11 years ago when the show was on tour.. was so good went to see him twice more including last night of tour. This time round just as good. Favourite musical in west end

I’ve always loved solo touring, because you can go at your own pace and take in London’s very rich history. I have been coming to London regularly (from Germany) for the past 30 (!) years, with a three year hiatus (not only because of COVID, but also because I was bummed because of Brexit). I just returned from a fun two-and-a-half days and despite some mobility issues, I still think it is a great city for solo travellers! 💕

I love visiting London on my own. LOVE that you mentioned a walk along the canal! Yes! It's the best. My favorite walk was from Broadway Market to Islington; the vibe was great. I stopped along the way for a couple pints -- yeah worth it! -- even though it was March and the weather was suboptimal. Just wandering around in general is a perk in London.

Great video. I solo travel in London often. Agree with Little Venice... lovely walk. Keeping a book handy (and a small umbrella). I'll put the conservatory on my menu. Apart from theater, recommend improv clubs (The Angel, etc) as there's good back and forth to get you connected.

Going to a theatre in London alone is awesome! Ive done many times in a row some years ago and I liked it so much! Bought last minute tickets at tkts and went to see Wicked, the 39 steps and another play. I am an art/museum junkie and for a rainy day I would recommend visiting one of the awesome museum London has! you just can't go wrong and many of them are free ...

I super recommend taking a regent's canal waterbus if you're in little venice! the tour guides are super lovely and funny. if you take the eastbound boat you get dropped off right in the middle of camden market.
I'm also obsessed with seven dials market. the vibes are incredible and the food is * chef's kiss * we went 3 times in the 6 days we were in london ahaha

Also taking a book is great idea - I often took a book when working solo in Paris. As well as more pleasurable than staring at a phone screen it’s a signal to everyone around what language you speak.

Good grief I was going to recommend river buses before you mentioned. (Best to go at dusk/evening when quieter and see the city lights) And yes TodayTix great for online day “rush” tickets. Plus absolute top tip : when they are released at 10am tickets may often sell out very quickly and you will feel deflated…..but and it’s a big but they are not sold but provisionally held for say 7 mins. If the first person doesn’t buy them they will then come back on sale. This is precisely what I did recently to see Best of Enermies….you need a bit of luck and resilience but trust me you may strike lucky

Omg I'm finding this video just in time... I learned yesterday my trip to London planned next week-end went from me & my mom to me alone because my mom has health issues :( so I had to rethink of what to do on my own!

By talking to a street performer in Covent Garden, I ended up at a try out night at Top Secret Comedy Club (£1 entry!), where I met great people who took me to the super exclusive Soho House after the show. For anyone that wants to go to the cheese bar book the 25 pound all you can eat. You will get 27 differnt options (each options if paid by itself costs between 4-6 pound) so you will literally save 75 pound as we eaily had 100 pounds worth of cheese if it was calculated individually!!

I love London and also afternoon tea, but I've struggled to find afternoon tea for solo travelers (tea for one). Any suggestions (Jess or others)?
I'm visiting London next year with my son who uses a wheelchair. He is non verbal so it's all my preferences. Harrods and a restaurant called Tings in the Shangri-la hotel have afternoon tea. It's per person so I think a solo guest would be fine.

I have a question please. I am only in London for 24 hours. I will arrive via Heathrow Airport 7am , trying to figure out how to get to my hotel from the airport. It's near Hyde Park leave suitcases rush back to the city to see at least Westminster Abbey and Tower of London. My two favorite things to see. Get back to hotel to leave in am. I don't know how to use the public transportation and do I book tickets now for the sites I want to see? Trip is in May. I feel lost but yet a chance in a lifetime to be there.
