It's weird, but I can imagine him performing it live, and saying that he was in a dark place when writing it, and he had dedicated it to his late ex-girlfriend (by late, I mean that she had died in a car crash), and holding back tears rather bravely. Okay. You were expecting me to say he'd break down in tears while performing it, but he'd still hold back tears. Same goes for Billie Eilish performing "when the party's over" live, but it's the other way around. I really feel sorry for them, and I just wanna give them a hug rn 😿

A few months ago, there was a girl that I really liked at my school, we talked to each other for a while, but when I finally summed up enough bravery to tell her how much she meant to me, and how much I loved her, my parents sent me to military school across the country, and I always listen to this song and play along with my guitar and cry because it reminds me of a love that I will never have

I remember when I was listening to this song while there was a thunder storm, once Chris sang "we are all alone" and the song got loud, there was thunder. Perfect timing. It gave me chills. gah. :3
This easily became my favorite song
The utterly beautiful sorrow that is City Lights is definitely my favorite sad song. To me, the beginning shows how Chris might have been shocked after his ex girlfriend died, trying to hide his pain from others, hence the quiet singing in the beginning, I feel like the soft tone represents him trying to hide that sadness. After he starts singing louder (not the screaming part), I feel like it can show how he has a building grief and sorrow that gets more intense over time. When he screams, "We are all alone," that's when the emotional climax hits. I can feel the amount of anger, sorrow, sadness, and guilt in his voice. Every syllable is just packed with emotion. That's how beautiful this song is, but in its own depressing way at the same time. Makes me want to weep every time. 10/10 song if you're looking for a sad one.

This is me and my ex's song. At first, I didn't even like Motionless In White. I thought they were weird. But, when he left me, this is all I had left. I watched some interviews, seen them play live, bought their CDs, and listened to their music much more. I learned quickly, they weren't weird. They were unique, and they stood up for peoples and their own rights. After a while, my ex didn't come to my mind. And this band, is now my addict. Love forever.

God i missed this era of motionless i knew about them but never gave them a chance, i mean i tried listening to them several times and nothing clicked until 2016 and idk why I've seen them live multiple times too and i regret not sticking around whenever they played i go to every show i can now and they're easily one of my favorite bands now and even though i didn't listen to them back then their music specifically this album gives me faint and distant nostalgic feelings and memories

As a fan of both groups and someone who listens to everything from Matt Corby to One Direction to Motionless In White can we just stop the hate. Being in a boy band does not make you gay(They all planed on being solo artist) and you may not like their music but don't say they have no talent, because they can sing.

And you're right, they did partially get to where they are because of their looks. Shows like X-Factor don't care about talent and helping someone reach their dreams all they care about is how much money they're going to get.
