Ruby is not a victim. She already was emotionally and mentally abusive to her children before. Maybe even physically. But she just found someone that shared her same demented thoughts and actions and the two of them were horrible together. I truly believe those kids would have died in their hands. Clearly that was imminent.

I'm a mental health professional, which informs my perspective on this situation. Both the Utah licensing board and the LDS church have significant responsibility in the harm to these children as well as others harmed by Jodi. She apparently routinely violated HIPPA and shared information about clients with church officials. There is no way the church officials didn't realize they participated in violating people's privacy in a very significant way. The church had to know her license had at one time been suspended, yet they continued to funnel clients to Jodi. And the licensing board failed in a really big way by allowing her to continue practice. She is a dangerous person and has no doubt harmed innumerable people.

The Morman bishops are definitely culpable for enabling her and tolerating the Hippa violations. Since it was a routine for her to feed info to her Bishop then that gives a good insight to the way the Morman church cares for their parishioners. Those bishops can't say they didn't know that she got the info from a clinical setting, they were the ones who referred them to her!!!

It’s apparently a regular occurrence with the LDS church to recommend therapists and have those therapists report back everything they are told to the persons bishop or if it’s a child they report back everything to the child’s parents and the bishop. Oh and the church new about her last suspension because it was involved in the case. That person came forward and shared his story on the Mormon stories podcast and with in the past week they had to remove the video because of a restraining order that was sent to them requiring them to remove the video

I wonder what would happen if we abolished religious tax exemptions. Churches are treated like charities and are almost treated like a social program. They aren’t charities tho. Maybe they used to be heavily tied to community outreach and giving back (I remember when all the churches in my town had soup kitchens or food banks) and having their books open to audits might uncover corruption before things like this are allowed to happen.
Imagine being a tax payer in this area, and find that this organization is using town resources that you’re paying for, only to keep their own money in order to pay someone to assault and manipulation members of their own congregation. To break up marriages. Destroy lives.
I feel like we give perks to a lot of institutions because we’ve always done it, and the lack of scrutiny over the years has allowed some pretty horrible stuff to breed behind the closed doors of the “virtuous”.

Motion to forever refer to massive abuse-of-power church corruption scandals as "being on par with the LDS"? The Catholic Church has done horrible things, of course, but I feel the fact that the LDS has billions of dollars and has people scared into silence with a simple threat of it could ruin their standing in the church (which God help you if your church standing is affected in Utah... the LDS basically runs that state, lbr) shows how absolutely vile the LDS really is.

The blame for that dynamic lies solely on the LDS Church and its leaders and I'm even more disgusted because first these people were victimized by Jodi (a therapist the LDS recommended) and now they're being bullied by said Church into silence. I personally have adopted a philosophy toward people like Jodi (the people who do awful, horrible things and then play victim or gaslight or deny any wrongdoing when called out). I call it scornful mockery. You'll never break through these people's delulu land that they're in the right and everyone else is wrong. You'll never reach them through expressing anger or sadness at their actions... so the only thing you can go for is ego.
So, as disgusted and horrified as I am with Jodi's actions and the pain she inflicted on people like Jessi, Adam, and the Franke kids makes me want to cry, I also know Jodi is *really* trying to play victim, so no remorse there. So I'm also cackling at how she surrendered her license and how much she's coping and seething that her victims are coming forward (and you just KNOW she knows they are) and I still get a kick hoe deflated she looked in her court appearance photo (at least Ruby had the villian decency to have the "I can't believe I'm in here" angry face 😂). I will make fun of people them because as evil as they are, they're also just overgrown bullies and the worst thing you can do to them is laugh in their faces.

    • @ristopherobbins
      @ristopherobbins ปีที่แล้ว

The best way to hold them accountable is by actively trying to show church members the truth.
The church is a trillion dollar company, they will get a slap on the wrist and then use tithing money to pay people off.
You would need to expose that the whole system is broken but members don’t believe that. All their therapists use sexual shame and “addiction” as a tool. If people believe their sexual urges are unnatural and a sin and that they need therapy to control it, then you have a way to control members.
It’s cyclical and they know it. The Mormon church is a sex cult. They use people’s normal attraction to sex as a way of shaming them and making them feel like they need the church to stay on a path to heaven.
You must go yo the temple to go to the highest heaven.
You can’t have a temple recommend if you are doing sexual things
So not only are you judged for wanting sex, but now we will take away your only way of making covenants with god to go to the highest heaven.
Go get therapy, but only from our approved therapists who will also say sex is shameful and label you as a sex or porn addict instead of showing you it’s NORMAL.
Oh wait but if sex urges are normal then I don’t need the church anymore to make sure I stay on a path of righteousness because wait! All these other things the church is teaching are not true.

Scientology does that with their „auditing“ sessions, where members are getting pressured to reveal any and all dirty little secrets they may have. Which may be one of the reasons for why Tom Cruise never left that cult. He probably knows that Scientology could end him by making what they had been collecting on him public.
Not saying that Cruise may have committed crimes. But we all have a private life. Laying private information open can be damaging, even if nothing nefarious is involved.

My apologies that this is so long. This case has triggered an experience from many years ago.
We can't just start with blanket statements about all LDS people, all LDS Bishops, etc. In this particular case, everyone assumed that if a Bishop or Stake President recommended a certain therapist, that everything was OK. My wife and I faced very similar issues when we tried to help some children who were obviously being abused by their adoptive parents. No matter what we said or did, no one would believe or listen to us. Why? Because while there were COUNTLESS numbers of others who saw the abuse and talked about it, they were turned away or told to ignore it. We met with Bishops and Stake Presidents to no avail. When one of the children finally reached the age of 18, we took them in and were able to make a difference in her life. EVEN THEN, the adoptive family complained about us and once again we were told to leave it alone. We moved and the previous Stake President had our temple recommends canceled without authority to do it. That young lady that we "saved" is now safe and living a happy life, but not without continuing challenges. My questions are this: Where were the people who were supposed to be ministering to these families and abused children? Where were the Primary teachers, Sunday School teachers, Young Men's leaders, Relief Society? And the list goes on and on. Every single one of them are supposed to take mandatory abuse training.
From Richard G. Scott - Do not be discouraged if initially a bishop hesitates when you identify an abuser. Remember that predators are skillful at cultivating a public appearance of piety to mask their despicable acts.
People - start saying things and speaking up, no matter the consequences and no matter what authority says. While my wife and I went literally through hell and were actually sued (they eventually dropped the suit) by extended members of the family, but it was worth it to save this one young lady.
Oh, and as for my wife and I? We are very happy with our membership in the church and believe it with all our hearts and will never deny it no matter what. Brainwashed? Not really. The world is becoming increasingly complicated and evil is more prevalent that ever before. We combat it the best we can and can never be 100% in those battles, but keep trying and never give up.

Thank you so much! I had a similar experience with a child in my Primary class, I talked to the bishop about it and ended up being thrown under the bus by the bishop. Turned out he was long time friends of the child's parents. Am I sorry? He k no, I did what God would have me do. Did I leave the church?no. I also still believe. Getting sooo tired of all the Mormon bashing! So thank you for the positive light.

To obtain a liscense you generally need X amount of supervised hours, extra CEUs, and to pass the rather expensive licensing exam. The exact requirements vary by state. It looks like Jodi spent 5 years working at a rehab clinic before venturing out on her own. In Jodi's case though it doesn't really matter how many hoops you jump through, she's just deluded with entitlement and grandosity and thinks rules don't apply to her.

    • @carolmorgan7998
      @carolmorgan7998 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's NOT just the LDS church!! There are so many other groups that turn into cults, all you need is a charismatic person with a convincing story, and misguided followers. It's that simple. Personally, I think that people are scared, have been for a while, what with the horrible things happening in the world around us. Some people have such a need for guidance and reassurance that they will follow anyone who provides any sense of strength, however hollow it really is. That, in my observation, is how cults start and are maintained...til something happens to blow it all up. We just need to be very kind to each other, especially children!

Insightful interview. I appreciated hearing the personal experience from patient/client of Jodi Hildebrandt's. Very eye- opening to me. Thanks to the young lady for bravely coming forward and sharing. I know from my own experience that therapy/counseling is very personal and not something you want to share with just anyone. I commend her for doing so in light of the damaging results JH's methods have had on the Franke family. The words gaslighting and brainwashing come to mind...most disturbing that a troubled person such as JH believes she can help others when she herself needs help. I feel sad for those deluded from JH's practices.

From what I gathered from other interviews and posts, after Adam Steed reported Jodi and there was a story about it in the paper, the LDS church distanced themselves from her and publicly stated she was no longer on the LDS Family Services referral list. But according to this interview, she was still being referred by bishops and paid for by LDS Family Services. I am not sure which is worse, the church continuing to use her formally as a referred therapist after the fact or going along referring her “off the books”. She was still getting paid by LDS Family Services. It seems so nefarious to me that they used the bare minimum of loopholes to still use her and pay her.

All psychs are rotten to the core, there is something inherently wrong with Psychiatry itself. I don’t think good people will be comfortable or okay with 🔒 up innocent people at Psych wards, tying them, escalating situations just to find some st00pid excuse to 🔒 them and tie them, then put them on lifelong medication that don’t cure anything and do nothing but side effects!!
U wanna improve urselves? Find a good church community, if u are not a Christian maybe find a life coach or mentor. Go pick up a hobby, join classes. Talk to your friends or none Psych counsellors. Go exercise and do things that bring u joy and enrich u , things which are not harmful to urself or others.

I honestly don’t know why anyone would recommend Psychiatry, that type of old fashion thinking that Psychiatrists help anyone nearly k*lled me. I was never suycidal till I encountered the Psychiatric system. They really ab*se patients claiming its “help” but its obviously ab*se. If you break a leg, you go see the Dr, the Dr will prescribe you medication to heal your leg and wrap it in a cast. If you go see a Psychiatrist, they will misdiagnose you, tort*re you and ab*se you, giving the patient more problems and anger they never had in the first place. The patient will be put on meds for life! If you see a Dr for a broken leg, your leg should be healed in a few weeks to months and you don’t need the meds anymore. But a Psychiatrist?? LOL! You just throwing your life away by seeing them.

She said to people they need to know how their feeling in the moment them if their upset remove yourself from the situation before you get out of control, she really does try to help people regulate their emotions
And she tries to help people to get away from the situation before you end up doing something horrible,

  • @sparkyroots369

It seems to me that the amount of abuse you suffer from Jodi depends upon how high up the LDS shit list you are. Adam Steed really pissed them off and so did his dad so he got it bad. Jodi's niece got it bad because nobody in her life wanted to protect her. Whereas this lady was just a client who went through the books, so merely witnessed some bad things but gave the church no reason to traumatise her. I wonder if that will change now she has done this interview?

I hate comparing apples to oranges, but I'm gonna do it here. This way of "counseling" that Jodi Hildebrandt did with members of the church, reminds me somewhat of the Landmark Forum (a personal development program). I took the Landmark Forum 7 yrs ago. They have very similar almost military style teachings when it comes to their classes. I called it emotional boot camp. They break you down emotionally, they will shame you when you are vulnerable about something going on in your life currently or in your past. It has messed up a lot of people, and even ruined some relationships with people. I didn't have that affect on me thank goodness, I wouldn't let it. But they use a lot of emotionally abusive tactics and yes it is a cult.

This is 1980’s Encounter - Group modality, with Jodi as a a Duct- Tape Dominatrix, Therapist, Cult- Leader twist.
I think this plot was spun in the 2980’d by Cult Leader from San Francisco, Jim Jones, poisoned kool-Aid drinkers in his “end of times” suicide cult just 40 years ago?
As a therapist, it is unethical in the very least to continue therapy beyond three sessions without specific goals for therapy: barring rare exceptions.
I have no idea what the goals of this alleged “therapy” were.
It’s impossible to determine if her methods were useful or useless without a single goal defined for anything.
But for what ends or goals?
Therapy is not going to somebody and talking about your feelings and having rambling conversations about personal growth and insight.
That’s more encounter group shit that you can do on a weekend with a couple cases of beer up in the mountains.
This whole bullshit that “therapy equals counseling” is outdated.
    “Therapy” is not:
1970s encounter, transactional stuff with a little bit of behaviorism thrown a few compassionate sprinkles of Toughlove.
Therapy is performed by licensed counselors.
That what JH did is therapy” is bullshit.
