Calm on the streets of Dhaka after plans for a nationwide shutdown are on hold

- There’s some semblance of calm on the streets of Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, after several days of protests against a controversial job quota system.
A curfew remains in place indefinitely and a telecoms blackout continues to affect internet and mobile phone services.
Seen as a partial victory for protesters, the Supreme Court scrapped most government job quotas on Sunday.
The reinstatement of the policy in June, initially sparked the student-led protests, that have since spread elsewhere.
More than 140 people have been killed and thousands injured after a crackdown by police and the military.

The situation in Bangladesh is far from calm right now. Hasina deployed the army, police and even border guards in every inch of the country and employed curfew after murdering thousands of innocent students. Even the student wing of the ruling party has been deployed to viciously attack protestors. The internet and all kind of mobile network has been shut down to stop communication among people and stop us from posting about this heinous situation and reaching out for international help. In reality, more than 1200 protestors has been confirmed murdered, almost 20,000 injured or missing and hundreds are being arrested under false warrents with no evidence. THERE IS NO JUDICIAL SYSTEM OR FREEDOM OF PRESS IN BANGLADESH. Hearing Hasina promise that justice will be served against the killings of innocents is tragically hilarious. How on earth can we expect the same dictator who orchrested these murders and attacks to investigate them? We do not want a quota reform anymore. Our only demand is STEP DOWN DICTATOR.

Bangladeshi government never passed permission for that to be installed, and Hasina would have a remote to turn that off before even allowing it to be installed. No starlink will ever be available until this govt withdraws

If you’ve been to Bangladesh, you’d notice that you lose network around gonobhobon and Agortola in Dhaka, because there are network blockers placed around it which controls and tracks network around that specific area. General public can’t use network or LTE but verified persons have access. Hope that answers your questions
