@@cleankiller9back then the sound was better in my opinion, the shows were out of control before they made sellout songs (I like chemical) but it’s not old TDWP or even close. Remembering the days of Plagues or even With Roots Above and Branches below.
The fact that he did this in their early days with a 3 peice setup is immensely impressive and classy from the standpoint of what is normal to hardcore drummers
That's a 4 piece and there a lot of good drummers that played metalcore/hardcore shit with 4 piece. But I agree he was one of the first I noticed doing it that I actually enjoyed
So how many of the bashers got as far as this band? You might not like his drumming, but he is on a stage with a band that has more than 10 years experience and 5-6 studio albums. I think that's an accomplishment and I also like his drumming.
I'm a drummer, and I want to tour, it's my biggest dream. But I cannot understand how this guy can do this everyday, stay on time with the band, and still put so much passion into playing. Maybe someday I'll be able to do this. Thanks for the inspiration Daniel. You're amazing-3
I love the fact that he uses only what he needs, not some big ass fancy drum set that most players don't even fully use. Plus you can see him play a lot better and it looks killer from the audiences point of view.
The very Best TDWP era, just when roots was kind of pop, but they still played hardcore old tdwp bangers! Miss this guys and that sound they had was amazing
*That's what sponsors are for. "FREE" cymbals, and equipment. But, is that the REAL reason to why he left? Because they were "broke" and he was breaking a ton of cymbals....? Hmm. I don't know. I didn't even know he left. I haven't been keeping up with this "scene" in a minute. For some reason, I wanted to look up their live drumming videos, which is why I'm here.*
I agree. It varies from artist to artist and how much exposure the band can give the company... Basically, the bigger the band, the bigger the discount.
+Percius Mercius Hes a decent drummer but definitely not the best part of the band. Plus this was back when the band kinda werent all that great. Zombie (2010) was a major step up for them and for Dan's drumming.
+Percius Mercius You do know the best type of drummer is the drummer that follows the music and that's exactly what he was doing for this record. It's not a race to see who can blastbeat faster... With Roots Above is their best release to this day.
+Austin Childress I respect your opinion but With Roots Above, as fantastic as it is is nowhere close to being their best release. It was still scene and quite generic when it comes to instrumentals. 8:18 is definitely first on the list for me. This is really the album where they stepped up every single thing in the band, from the drums to the vocals. dead throne is 2nd. I think they are one of the few bands out that really gets better with each release.
+Percius Mercius You know what's funny about you saying this is cringe-worthy is the fact that this guy (even with his rather interesting technique and style) still would probably play this song better than you
@MrDraglet5 it has a louder sound to it considering its larger and therefore you can hear it better live since there's so much noise confind into such a little area so it just helps make the drums louder.
@PBronaldo it's basically an upside down little cymbal that replaces the ride bell for a more dingy and fuller ride bell sound. if you drum, make sure you pick one up.
@06livefast Continued from first comment: Also, just because his parts are simple doesn't mean they are bad. It takes just as much talent to find a part to fit the music as it does to do fancy tricks that a master drummer can do. If the music needs just a basic beat, then give it that, not some crazy thing all over the kit. If the fill needs to just be snare drum, do that.
I've seen these guys live a few times. They are the real deal. This guy on drums is sick. I have played in many bands with a drum set twice that size, and they can't get the job done like this guy. Nice.
Okay guys.. this is way back from 09! Come and see him play this year!! .. He is now so epic.. I didn't like him back then... but when the new EP is released .. everything changed.... Dan is so EPIC now...

I've been watching this video for like 3 years or so and I've learned that people always will be hating and talking shit about great bands or musicians.
And it's not the sound quality of the video that led me to my statement, dude. Right off the bat, his countoff with his sticks was a great deal faster than the actual tempo of the song. It immediately sounded like he was dragging tempo from the 1st beat. I agree he has gotten a whole lot better, I was just making a statement. Sorry if it was misinterpreted.

Correct. BUT some endorsement deals offer free kits and stuff depending on amount of influence he/she has on there audience. So basically, the larger influence, the better endorsement deal.
@AngelsOfSilence6 what do you use? heel toe and triggers? or the shuffle and triggers? dont be jealous of a drummer who can get full hits out of his kick.
