The local rice is so fragrant and tastes so good but the removing of the stones makes it not worth the trouble. Sometimes you can't even find all the stones and can bite in to one while eating. Thanks for the video 🙏🏾

Why don't you relocate to Ghana or another African country? I live in Africa, 99% of the population dreams of getting out of there, even the rich help their kids settle in the West. It all looks fun, but they have terrible problems like corruption at all levels and major dishonesty issues embedded in then mentality. Ghanaian women love twisting things and creating a scandal out of nothing.
I visit Ghana last year and would love to visit there if I can still make money here in the US. I love how you can put US dollars in an ATM there and get cedis for a small fee.
I really enjoyed watching you shop at the amazing outdoor market and then prepare such a delicious looking meal! In the US, $5 wouldn’t even buy the meat for such a dish. I am in NC USA and yes I can feed my family for $5. I would not get as many different things but I spend less than $10 for every meal I fix for 5 people. Maybe it's just easy for me because I am from the country and my husband is from Mexico. Even now with inflation and rising food prices, I just did my grocery shopping for 5 people for 2 weeks and spent $97.17. Before the prices went up I would spend between $55.00-$65.00 every 2 weeks.
@@woodenNL you can buy rice and beans at the dollar tree. Flatbread, wheat bread, white bread, pasta, sauce, tea canned fruit, soup, pickles and salad dressing. All for 1.25 each. At Aldi’s you can buy produce very reasonable. you can make bean soup for 5 people with a little ham or pork. Chili with a pound of burger. Pasta for 5 for 5 dollars , tacos with a lb of burger, you can stop ll buy chicken pretty cheap if you are lucky real cheap. Pork is cheap. A dozen egged are now 3 dollars. Kids eat oatmeal Bananas and apples. You get 2 packs chicken soup in a box. ALDIs cheese hasn’t gone up it’s still 2 dollars. Burger is 4 or 5 dollars a pound unless you buy the big 10 pound thing which if I’m shopping for 5 people I’m buying that. A bag of potato’s is 5 dollars. Butter 3 dollars Pancake mix is 2 bucks or 1.25 at the dollar tree.

I was able to get one pack of chicken thighs (2 small and 2 big) for $4.35 USD... luckily I had potatoes already at home... The cost of food is killing us here too

If you purchased 3 potatoes 3 carrots, 2tomatoes,1onion, walmart white lond grain rice for 1.47usd,and walmart chicken gizzards for 2.13usd, which all coming from USA , then you can make a stew for family of 2 or 3..Even no need to go to the dollar store where is nothing but poison there anyway.This is extreme budgeting to survive on the basic food .People can learn to shop and budget then they can save money.

The prices here are much higher but it can be done. Most people here are spoiled to excessive spending in my opinion. 10 dollars would be an easier budget meal in America. Yup that’s how it is in the US. But as a reminder we have higher paying jobs. Even someone who never congratulated High School will make more money than most Africans. But still life is expensive in America 🤦🏽♂️ so that’s why you work, save your money and when you think you have enough then you migrate to a cheaper country.

It's very smart to use peanut butter for your stock. It's nutritious and makes you full for a very long period of time. I'm amazed how skilled you are while only using several kitchen appliances.
One thing i found interesting was none of the vegetable vendors weigh the veggies before selling them, Here in India almost every seller has weighing machine which they use to weigh the amount of food and then ask for the appropriate price based on it

They're opening stores where you can buy grains, nuts, etc all over US now. You have to have (or buy) a reusable container too so no more of those damn plastic bags. Most supermarkets have produce by weight too. The butchers sell meat by weight as well. I'd rather buy meat inside and refrigerated.

I mean if you assume that a month has 30 days and you’re eating 3 meals a day it comes down to feeding your family of for 11.11$ per meal which doesn’t sound to bad.
I love how much in common our counties have despite being so far away! The herring, the currency being almost 1 = 1, the cost of some of the things (like onion) being very similar. What we don't have are fun markets, instead it is all the same 3 stores everywhere with the same expensive food (except onion and potatoes because they grow well here). Only one cedi for so many peppers was a shock! They must grow well in Ghana! Here in Sweden they are not grown commercially, but imported. Although many people with warm and sunny windows grow them for themselves indoors. Ghana seems like a lovely place, and the people kind and generous. I was once fed by my Ghanian neighbours, they made the most delicious grilled chicken. Thinking about it, I actually gave them a chilli plant as thanks, haha!

You definitely need to be a clever shopper. While it's growing season, try to find a farm stand in someone's yard, or a free farmers' market where the people who sell don't have to pay a fee. That keeps your cost down. Buy meat on sale in big packages and divide it at home. Don't buy only what your recipe calls for, on the day you are cooking; you'll pay more. When you're cooking with meat, use it like Tatiana uses her dried fish: for flavor. Make legumes (peanuts in this case) and rice the bulk of the meal. Beans, peas, lentils, etc, are tasty and satisfying. Potatoes are inexpensive, but get sweet potatoes if you have a choice; they're more nutritious. Rice is pretty affordable. Peanut butter and tomato paste, buy the cheapest kind; the cost is in the packaging. Don't pay for the name brand. You can't eat a name. Try to avoid depending on wheat and corn; they will leave you empty and unsatisfied and you'll eat more. Over time, you learn....

Groceries here cost about $120-$150 for one to two ppl depending on what I get from the grocery store and markets. $5 for a whole family is incredible and amazing . I spent $75 a week for 2 people and that includes wine/beer. Without that I’m looking at $40-$50 a week and I live in California. I also cook every meal at home and don’t buy prepared, canned, or frozen. It all depends on what you eat. I’m picky so fried potatoes, rice and chicken are great for me. As for my husband he is Russian so big meals with loads of veggies.
As an indian so had you on the ingredients as its quite similar to what we use till you reached cow meat which is holy for us and we worship it... But amazed to see so many other similarities between two cultures

I bet it taste so yummy!!! Back in university days, I sometimes will spend my weekend at my Kenyan and Nigerian girls house. They always cook a nice food and have thought me how to cook the Kenyan chicken curry and then Nigerian chicken red tomato stew. I always love the flavour and still cook it at least once a month until now. I met few of Ghanaian girls back in Uni days too and everyone always so lovely.

I am in NC USA and yes I can feed my family for $5. I would not get as many different things but I spend less than $10 for every meal I fix for 5 people. Maybe it's just easy for me because I am from the country and my husband is from Mexico. Even now with inflation and rising food prices, I just did my grocery shopping for 5 people for 2 weeks and spent $97.17. Before the prices went up I would spend between $55.00-$65.00 every 2 weeks.

you can make bean soup for 5 people with a little ham or pork. Chili with a pound of burger. Pasta for 5 for 5 dollars , tacos with a lb of burger, you can stop ll buy chicken pretty cheap if you are lucky real cheap. Pork is cheap.
A dozen egged are now 3 dollars. Kids eat oatmeal Bananas and apples.
You get 2 packs chicken soup in a box. ALDIs cheese hasn’t gone up it’s still 2 dollars. Burger is 4 or 5 dollars a pound unless you buy the big 10 pound thing which if I’m shopping for 5 people I’m buying that. A bag of potato’s is 5 dollars. Butter 3 dollars
Pancake mix is 2 bucks or 1.25 at the dollar tree.

If you purchased 3 potatoes 3 carrots, 2tomatoes,1onion, walmart white lond grain rice for 1.47usd,and walmart chicken gizzards for 2.13usd, which all coming from USA , then you can make a stew for family of 2 or 3..Even no need to go to the dollar store where is nothing but poison there anyway.This is extreme budgeting to survive on the basic food .People can learn to shop and budget then they can save money.

The prices here are much higher but it can be done. Most people here are spoiled to excessive spending in my opinion. 10 dollars would be an easier budget meal in America. But still life is expensive in America 🤦🏽♂️ so that’s why you work, save your money and when you think you have enough then you migrate to a cheaper country.

Most supermarkets have produce by weight too. The butchers sell meat by weight as well. I'd rather buy meat inside and refrigerated.

Wow your budget is very high now on Americas standards, ours is $350-$400.
I love how much in common our counties have despite being so far away! The herring, the currency being almost 1 = 1, the cost of some of the things (like onion) being very similar. What we don't have are fun markets, instead it is all the same 3 stores everywhere with the same expensive food (except onion and potatoes because they grow well here). Only one cedi for so many peppers was a shock! They must grow well in Ghana! Here in Sweden they are not grown commercially, but imported. Although many people with warm and sunny windows grow them for themselves indoors. Ghana seems like a lovely place, and the people kind and generous. I was once fed by my Ghanian neighbours, they made the most delicious grilled chicken. Thinking about it, I actually gave them a chilli plant as thanks, haha!

A lot of people do not eat this well in the US for $5.00.
You definitely need to be a clever shopper. While it's growing season, try to find a farm stand in someone's yard, or a free farmers' market where the people who sell don't have to pay a fee. That keeps your cost down.
Buy meat on sale in big packages and divide it at home. Don't buy only what your recipe calls for, on the day you are cooking; you'll pay more. When you're cooking with meat, use it like Tatiana uses her dried fish: for flavor. Make legumes (peanuts in this case) and rice the bulk of the meal. Beans, peas, lentils, etc, are tasty and satisfying. Potatoes are inexpensive, but get sweet potatoes if you have a choice; they're more nutritious.
Rice is pretty affordable. Peanut butter and tomato paste, buy the cheapest kind; the cost is in the packaging. Don't pay for the name brand. You can't eat a name.
Try to avoid depending on wheat and corn; they will leave you empty and unsatisfied and you'll eat more.
Over time, you learn....

I spent 130$ a week for two people and two cats, so that’s a great estimate lol
I spent $75 a week for 2 people and that includes wine/beer. Without that I’m looking at $40-$50 a week and I live in California. I also cook every meal at home and don’t buy prepared, canned, or frozen. It all depends on what you eat. I’m picky so fried potatoes, rice and chicken are great for me. As for my husband he is Russian so big meals with loads of veggies.

I bet it taste so yummy!!! Back in university days, I sometimes will spend my weekend at my Kenyan and Nigerian girls house. They always cook a nice food and have thought me how to cook the Kenyan chicken curry and then Nigerian chicken red tomato stew. I always love the flavour and still cook it at least once a month until now. I met few of Ghanaian girls back in Uni days too and everyone always so lovely.
